Chapter 85

Evan doesn't particularly like the idea of Bennett being here. He's the King, and he needs to be respected, but he's also his girlfriend's mate; his competition. He knows he should trust Norah when she says nothing is going to happen between the two, but he can't help but feel a little frightened at the thought of her leaving him.

He would go out of his mind if that happened.

Norah and Rowan stand by the cake table as they get ready to cut their cake. They blow out the candles, which are in the shape of an eighteen, as pack members gather around them to watch. It's the twins' first birthday together, so everyone wants to watch as they do everything for the first time.

Evan sits alone at a table close to the one where the cake is. His elbows are propped up on his knees and his hands are out in front of him, his fingers fiddling. He lets out a long sigh. He should be at the cake table being happy for Norah.
