Episode 1.4 The Sword

The tall bright green followed the waves of the cold wind as it came over the open patch in the woods. The oak trees spread their leaves out in an oval shape, swaying with the wind. The wind whistled with the chirping birds, creating a melody within this forest.

The barking of a fox pup disrupted this melody, but yet it added to it. As if it was the percussion playing with the vocals. In truth the entirety of this untouched forest was a giant melody playing in harmony.

The bright sun, centered in the middle of the blue sky, shines down upon the opening in the woods, where only grass grew. Trees surrounding it are like guardians protecting the woods and its inhabitants. Reflecting the sun's radiance, a sharp silver blade parried the light of the sun. The sword was long, but not so long that it'd be impossible to wield with one hand. It had been forged from iron and steel, making a brilliant silver coat color. The edge of the sword stayed straight all the way down the sword, until making a sharp straight curve inwards after going a 3rd of the way down the blade from the guard. The fuller of the blade made the shape of a rectangle going down the blade, before sharpening into a triangle at the end.

A sleeping hand held the grip of the blade, it had a nice leather material over it. And at the pommel, a Greek cross with 4 arms all connecting at the center.

With a twitch, and then a wake. Aaron would groan, stretching his arms behind his head, his eyes heavy to open. He sits himself up, supporting himself with his hand to his side. Finally able to open his eyes from a sudden rest.

The forest bestowed upon his eyes, like a grace. His first thought was in disbelief of beauty, and the second, was in disbelief of how.

The recollections flooded his head like the wind crashed against his skin.

Thoughts field Aaron's mind..

God.. he truly did fit the world he ran, he was no heavenly sovereign that guided humans to the afterlife. No, not at all. All the religions had lied to us, god and the devil have always been the same person.

Besides that, how did I even get myself in this situation? I can't even tell if starting from the beginning will help.

Taking a breath of air he pondered thoughts in his mind. While sitting criss-crossed.

My memory's past waking up covered in blood is very foggy. I remember basic things like language, my name, where I went to school, and my only friend Gabriel. But I can't remember anything else besides the things that have been embedded into my soul.

I can remember this job I have to do, to kill the highest god of Eternia.

He looks around him, at the beautiful trees, the bright blue sky, the birds soaring with the winds, and the sword he had drawn from the stone.

He sighed before pushing himself up, stretching out his arms and his back.

"This is Eternia."

He didn't have to think about it, he just knew. For whatever reason, maybe it was the books he had always read as a kid. The settings were just like this, nearly identical for some of the story's he read.

He held the sword in his hands, tightly to his side. He had never once wielded something that could "kill". Which was a lie, but he didn't know that.

He had no choice but to just walk. So he did.

As he took steps closer and closer to the woods, soon passing through the trees and onto the other side. Thoughts unraveled themselves in his mind, like a spool of twine.

This is a world of "Fantasy", so there must be monsters, or beasts of magical origins at the least. This could probably just be his inner fantasy nerd talking. But even if it's not, there's without a doubt something in this world that's unexplained to him.

Inside the forest it wasn't as windy. The aroma of pine sap crawled its way up Aaron's nose, it was a strong but kind smell. Aaron had never learned about trees, so he couldn't tell the kinds of trees that surrounded him. But due this overwhelming scent, and the beautiful brown coat over the trees, he assumed it was an oak forest with lingering pine trees.

fresh soil and green grass, molded and melted together to make the base of the forest floor. It was such a soft dirt, so soft he could feel the squishiness through the soles of his shoes.

Aaron had been wearing a pair of black chuck taylors, that's what he had always worn. His mother had always dressed him with them, he hadn't always liked them, but over time it became symbolic for him.

Many flowers, and plants scattered around the forest floor, many blooming in the cracks between the trees, this being the only place where the sun shall shine. As for the leaves guarded from the sun, creating a shaded environment, but enough light poked through which you could see the color of the overgrowth.

Aaron had absolutely no idea of where, and when he was. He navigated himself through the woods just using his ability to walk and breath, he had no final destination. So all he did was think, and learn.

A giddy humming sound began echoing through the trees.

A young girl with brunette hair smiled, as she bent down to pick from a patch of Roses. Her hair was straight, and freckles filled her face. She wore a blue dress, the dress you'd see when reading a children's folk book.

He let out a gasp of air holding his sword close to him, Aaron shivered looking out behind a tree towards the young girl. She seemed human, and just human. But he couldn't be sure, he needed to know she was human before he did anything.

I'm terrified. Yet excited, and I can't understand why.

A sudden cracking noise interrupted the humming of a young girl, and with a gasp she looked out behind her. She began breathing so heavily Aaron could hear her, in front of her was a walking mushroom. It had short feet, short arms, but such gross and vile teeth. Teeth that crave the taste of humane flesh. Even though Aaron was not of this world, his mammal instincts told him. The beast wanted her blood.

Aaron stood still behind the tree unable to move, unable to look back. He was frozen still, frozen with terror.

The monster waddled closer to the girl, growling, and frothing at the mouth.. She was scared, she was in fear. She couldn't move, she was stuck there in fear

But then a thought came into his head. And immediately he gripped his sword, his body tensed and he ran out from behind the tree in front of the girl.

What right did he have being scared? After what he's done.

Gripping the sword by the grip with both of his hands, tensing his muscles. The sword was heavy, hard to swing. But still he lifted the sword above his head, losing balance, going off footing as the sword tried to weigh him down, sending him back.

The monster growled at Aarons appearance, so with no other option it jumped forward at Aaron. Aaron caught his footings, slamming his left foot behind him forcing all his weight forward swinging down at the monster. The sword followed with the momentum swinging downward towards the monsters mushroom cap.

"SLASH.."

The sword was sheathed into the ground as it flung forward. The monster, cut in two on the ground. Aaron gasped for air, breathing heavily, in relief.

Looking back at the girl, his hands were shaking and his face visibly nervous. Aaron thought to himself. That was fun.

He kneeled down at the girl who was sitting flat on the ground, he reached out his hand for her.

"I'm sorry.. are you alright?"
