Fubao's Beacon of Hope: A Tale of Resilience and Redemption

Being born into the Li family, Fubao considers herself incredibly fortunate. However, the Li family is known throughout the region as the poorest and most unfortunate. Despite their kind hearts, tragedy seems to follow them relentlessly.

Her grandfather passed away struggling for breath, unable even to close his eyes. Her grandmother, blinded and later found dead in a ditch, suffered a similar fate. Li Chengyuan, framed and imprisoned, met a violent end in jail. Lin Yanfen, upon hearing of her husband's demise, fell into despair and met a tragic end herself.

Even her four older brothers faced misfortune, their lives turning bleak as they grew older. It's clear that this warm family will face great turmoil in the future.

Fubao understands her mission: to use her lucky star essence to reverse the family's fortunes, to be their savior in times of trouble. The old lady Li echoes this sentiment, urging Lin Yanfen to focus on raising their daughter and waiting for Fubao to grow up, assuring her that they have everything they need.

In the next room, the old man Li listens silently, his coughs betraying his guilt. Fubao senses his remorse; if not for his paralysis, he could share the family's burdens. He, too, has suffered, refusing treatment for his injuries to avoid burdening his family.

Determined to help, Fubao knows she's too young and powerless to act now. She'll have to wait until she's older and stronger.

The next morning, Li Chengyuan sets off to find work in the county, eager to provide for his family. Despite the hardships, he remains hopeful, sharing his plans to earn more and rebuild their home. His mother scolds him gently but supports his aspirations, while his father encourages him from his bed.

As the family gathers for dinner, Fubao tries to cheer for her father but can only make incomprehensible sounds. She feels helpless, unable to contribute despite her desire to help.
