"I, I've come of age!" Ethan furrowed his brow, as if carefully pondering just how old he was. Finally, he said solemnly, "I should be forty years old!"
"Pfft!"
With such an adorable and innocent demeanor, claiming to be forty years old?
Cutie, are you teasing me?
Amelia's annoyance from Alexander's elopement vanished in an instant.
She teased him with a smile, "Alright then, bring out your microcomputer. If you're over twenty, you can help me with this favor and marry me. After we resolve the crisis, you can leave if you want."
Although divorce wasn't an easy affair in the Interstellar Empire, it was better than being randomly married off to a man without knowing anything about his height, weight, or appearance.
Most importantly, Amelia was particular about appearances and couldn't tolerate ugliness. If she ended up marrying an ugly husband, she wouldn't be able to eat or sleep!
Back then, she was willing to display her deep love for Alexander and marry him because he was fairly good-looking.
But compared to the Ethan in front of her, Alexander was just a potato!
"Microcomputer..." Ethan glanced around, then spotted the microcomputer on his wrist.
However, it seemed to be malfunctioning. He fiddled with it for a while before finally opening the marriage application interface.
"Sister, is this it?" Ethan asked.
Amelia leaned over to take a look. It was a black microcomputer, and she couldn't tell what brand it was, but the texture was glossy and it looked expensive.
It might have privacy features or it could be damaged. She couldn't see anything else; her personal information page was a bit scrambled, but luckily the marriage application code was clear.
As long as Amelia pulled up her own personal information page, and both of them scanned each other's codes, it would be considered submitting a marriage application to the Imperial Central System.
If the two of them met the marriage requirements, the central system would approve it.
Just then, footsteps approached from behind.
Amelia turned her head and saw two women approaching.
One was older, wearing a purple dress, with an elegant and dignified demeanor.
The other was younger, accompanying the woman in the purple dress.
It was Alexander's mother and sister.
"Amelia, my brother hasn't arrived yet. What should we do about this wedding?" Daisy asked, with a smirk on her face.
She had never liked Amelia, considering her to be a clingy sickly person who always pestered her brother, in Daisy's eyes.
More importantly, she and Charlotte were good friends, having known each other for seven years.
Alexander's mother, on the other hand, didn't oppose the marriage at all, given the relationship between the two families.
Moreover, in Fiona's view, that Charlotte was just an adopted daughter of the Johnson family.
How could she compare to the proper Miss Amelia?
She said with emphasis, "Amelia, just wait a little longer. Alexander will definitely come back."
Amelia lowered her head and glanced at the time on the microcomputer. It was already past nine in the evening.
There were less than three hours left until midnight.
If Alexander really wanted to rush back, he should already be in the third district by now.
But he wasn't.
Amelia smiled and said, "Aunt, the wedding will proceed as planned. You should return to the banquet hall first."
Fiona nodded in satisfaction. Although Amelia was physically frail, she came from a good family, had good manners, and was obedient and sensible.
Daisy supported her mother and glanced back at Amelia, sneering as she left, "Stubbornness brings suffering!"
They walked away, not noticing Ethan hiding around the corner.
Amelia squinted, turned around, and found Ethan still sitting there. His fluffy tail, which he had just withdrawn to avoid being seen, was now cautiously poking out again.
He was delicately hooking Amelia's ankle.
After this entanglement between the mother and daughter, more than half an hour passed, leaving little time for Amelia.
After all, the main system's review of marriage applications also takes time.
She looked at Ethan's beautiful big eyes and asked, "If you marry me, will your family object?"
"They wouldn't dare," Ethan replied.
Amelia was stunned, feeling as if she had just turned forty. The phrase "they wouldn't dare" sounded fierce at first, but in reality, it melted her heart.
The Ethan before her looked especially like the Alaskan husky she had raised back on ancient Earth.
He was masculine, yet sometimes incredibly cute and soft, making one want to kiss him!
Amelia remembered the people in the banquet hall, either waiting to see a joke or pitying her, with a slight smirk on their lips.
She reached out her hand to Ethan, smiling gently, "Then Ethan, marry me."
A beautiful white wedding dress, a sweet woman, was now reaching out to him.
Feeling a strange familiarity with her, Ethan hesitated for no moment, nodded, and opened his personal information QR code.
Beep.
Did they actually succeed in scanning each other?
The other party was indeed of age, which relieved Amelia, but seeing the somewhat bewildered beautiful eyes of the other, she felt a bit guilty.
Was she deceiving him?
The marriage application had been sent to the main system for review, and within an hour, there should be a result.
Oh well.
If Ethan regrets it later, she will find a way to dissolve their marriage.
If Ethan doesn't regret it... she could take care of him for a lifetime!
Such a beautiful husky-like young man, she wouldn't lose out.
Amelia looked at Ethan's tattered black clothes and said, "Come on, let me find you a suit to wear."
Ethan stood up, took Amelia's hand voluntarily, and followed her obediently.
As he stood up, Amelia belatedly realized, Ethan was so tall.
In the bridal suite, there were groom's suits next to it, a total of eight, all tailored to Alexander's figure.
While changing clothes, Amelia noticed a wound on Ethan's arm, fortunately not deep, and it had been treated.
She frowned, "How did you get this? Should I call the doctor to have a look?"
Ethan shook his head, "No need, it doesn't hurt."
After confirming several times that the wound had stopped bleeding and was healing, Amelia finally relaxed.
She thought that after the wedding, she would find out where Ethan came from and why he didn't remember anything.
Amelia chose a black suit for Ethan, with white diamonds inset on the cuffs, complementing the diamonds on her wedding dress.
However, Amelia discovered that despite looking very young, Ethan was even taller than the 1.8-meter-tall Alexander. The shirt on him was tight, accentuating the contours of his muscles.
His face was exquisitely beautiful, but his body... was quite impressive!
As Amelia looked up, she found Ethan staring at her, his fair neck tinged with a slight blush.
"Ethan, what's wrong?" Amelia asked.
"Elder sister, I feel like I've seen you somewhere before," Ethan replied.
Hearing this line, which had been considered quite cliché back on ancient Earth, Amelia couldn't help but chuckle.
"Yeah, maybe we met in a past life," she said.
Ethan frowned, feeling a bit troubled because he didn't think it was from a past life. But his chaotic mind prevented him from thinking further, causing a headache whenever he tried.
Although the suit was a bit snug, it would do. Standing in front of the mirror, the handsome man and the beautiful woman looked perfectly matched.
Suddenly, Amelia remembered that videos of her and Alexander's wedding were still hanging in the streets and alleys, although it was almost time to take them down. It felt ironic.
Suddenly, a warm hand grasped hers. Amelia turned her head and saw Ethan's dewy deer-like eyes.
"Elder sister, what are you thinking about?" he asked.
"I'm thinking, why hasn't the main system approved our marriage application yet?"
