An indescribable hollowness settled in the depth of his gaze as he stared at the fading black speck against the bright luminescent pearl in the sky.

The bullet tore through his flesh, a crimson fountain quickly erupting from the wound.

Ignoring the searing pain, Julian cradled Maximillian's limp form to his chest. With trembling hands, he pried open the alpha's mouth and pressed his own bleeding wrist against it.

"You are going to be fine, Maxim," he whispered as his blood flowed into Maximillian's throat. "You are going to survive. You are going to live a long, long, and happy life. You must not die here."

Julian did not know how much of his blood he fed into his alpha. With passing seconds, his body temperature gradually decreased. A wave of dizziness crashed over him, threatening to pull him under the suffocating weight of his own fading consciousness.
