It was not the time to dwell in pain.
-----------
A cacophony of sounds flooded Maximillian ears – the panicked swish of uniforms brushing past, the frantic barking of orders, and the metallic clang of medical equipment hitting the ground.
His own ragged breaths joined the symphony of chaos.
"Agent Grant!!! Please hold on!"
Julia's voice reverberated through the air.
"We need an ambulance, stat!" A voice, raw with urgency, cut through the din. It was answered by a chorus of clipped confirmations, punctuated by the rhythmic thud of heavy footsteps.
Through the haze of pain, Maximillian registered the frantic recitation of his vitals. "Alpha, male, injured, three gunshot wounds..."
Before long, a faint wail pierced through the air. The shrill sound grew increasingly louder, drowning out all the other noises.
Maximillian closed his eyes and the world around him dissolved in a vortex of black.
