Woke Up (Part 3)

Standing at the stove, her movements looked natural and relaxed.

Watching her back, Huo Tianzhou felt a strange sense of unease.

Noticing the fire weakening, he turned his attention back to the medicine pot and opened it with a damp cloth to check.

Liang Hongyu quickly cooked the egg soup and added some chopped scallions at the end.

Meanwhile, Huo Tianzhou poured out the brewed medicine.

Liang Hongyu poured the egg soup into two bowls.

Just as she was about to drink it, Huo Tianzhou pushed his bowl over to stop her, causing some of the medicine to spill over the rim.

Liang Hongyu who is not particular about the order of drinking the medicine, glanced at Huo Tianzhou, then took the bowl of medicine from him.

Huo Tianzhou carefully took the egg soup from her hand and returned it to the pot.

Liang Hongyu: ?

She turned around, picked up the other bowl, and saw the confusion on his face.

Remembering how feverish she was when he had fetched the doctor, Huo Tianzhou felt a sinking feeling and poured the egg soup back into the pot.

Before Liang Hongyu could react, Huo Tianzhou covered the pot, turned around, and took an hourglass from the corner.

He placed it on the stove and gestured towards the medicine in her hand.

Watching Huo Tianzhou leave, Liang Hongyu turned her head back to the bowl of dark medicine in her hand with a troubled expression.

Huo Tianzhou lost his father at the age of five and lived alone with his mother ever since.

When he was seven, he had a severe illness that damaged his vocal cords, and despite numerous consultations, his mother found no cure for him.

His mother worked tirelessly to support the family, but in Huo Tianzhou's fourteenth year, she succumbed to illness due to overwork.

Speaking of his mother, Liang Hongyu had a lot of respect for her.

After her husband's death, she single-handedly took care of her child, managed the household, and fended off the relatives who coveted their house and land.

Father Huo had a tough life as well.

His family background wasn't that great, and when the family was divided, he got nothing but the house.

He eventually lost his life because of them too, leaving behind his wife and son, who were constantly harassed by his relatives.

Thankfully, Mother Huo was strong-willed and tough; otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to keep the house.

The original owner's situation wasn't much better either.

Liang Hongyu was the third child in her family.

Her mother died in childbirth, and shortly after she was born, her father quickly remarried.

With an older brother and sister above her and several younger siblings below, Liang Hongyu wasn't favored much at home.

She was often hungry and had to do heavy labor every day.

Many times, it was Mother Huo who secretly helped her out of pity and prevented her from starving.

Agreeing to Mother Huo's proposal to marry into their family was not only because Liang Hongyu couldn't stay with her own family anymore but also because she owed Mrs. Huo a debt of gratitude.

At that time, when the Huo family divided the family property, Father Huo only got this house.

However, although Father Huo only got the house, the rest of the family wasn't happy about it.
