Woke Up (Part 2)

During the few days she lay in bed with some consciousness, apart from the neighbors' Wu family who came to see her, it was Huo Tianzhou who had been taking care of her.

Although Liang Hongyu's complexion had improved considerably, but Huo Tianzhou was still worried.

He didn't get up to make way for her, instead, he raised his hand to urge her back to the room.

Noticing his movement out of the corner of her eye, Liang Hongyu instinctively grabbed his arm with surprising strength, causing Huo Tianzhou to wince in pain.

She quickly realized what she had done and released him while suppressing the murderous intent in her eyes.

She hadn't paid attention earlier outside the door, but now Liang Hongyu got a clear look at Huo Tianzhou's appearance.

He has handsome features and pale skin that make him look like a sick person.

Sitting there quietly, he seemed to lack vitality.

Liang Hongyu suddenly worried that she might have broken his arm with that grip.

"Did you eat anything this morning?" she asked him casually.

Huo Tianzhou who is still feeling the pain in his arm, looked at her in surprise.

He shook his head but then suddenly changed to a nod.

Liang Hongyu clicked her tongue lightly, "If you didn't eat, you didn't eat. What's with the shaking and nodding?"

Huo Tianzhou froze, then silently turned back to add more wood under the medicine pot.

Liang Hongyu suddenly remembered that this guy had damaged his vocal cords and couldn't speak.

Unsure of what else to say, she turned around to look for food in the kitchen.

She had only been drinking medicine for the past few days, and her stomach was growling with hunger.

There were two pots on the stove, one for boiling water and the other for cooking.

On the counter, there's a bamboo basket that was covered with a cloth and a water jar in the corner.

Liang Hongyu opened them all, only to find them empty.

Now she understood why Huo Tianzhou had shaken his head and then nodded.

The two old hens in the house usually laid an egg every other day.

With this in mind, she turned around and walked out of the kitchen, heading to the chicken coop to retrieve a still-warm egg from the nest.

Next to the chicken coop, a small vegetable patch was fenced off.

Most of the vegetables were wilted, but her eyes scanned the area, and she picked a few that still seemed usable.

She also grabbed some scallions, washed everything with water, and returned to the kitchen.

Huo Tianzhou's gaze fell on the egg in Liang Hongyu's hand.

He looked up at her and subtly furrowed his brow.

There was still some salt and lard left in the two small jars on the stove.

Liang Hongyu planned to make a simple egg soup.

She cracked the egg into a bowl, sprinkled some salt, and casually stirred it with chopsticks before lighting the fire and heating the pot.
