Trouble Is Coming (Part 1)

"I'm fully recovered. I wouldn't dare come out if I wasn't. There's someone at home to take care of," Liang Hongyu replied, feeling both amused and touched by her concern.

She mentioned Huo Tianzhou to reassure her.

Seeing that Liang Hongyu looked much better than before, Aunt Wu knew she couldn't persuade her, so she said, "Don't go too deep into the mountains. Come to my house for dinner tonight. Two extra mouths won't eat much."

The Wu family's eldest son had joined the army years ago, and her daughter was married.

She and her husband were busy with the farm and taking care of their grandchildren.

The only other able-bodied workers at home were her eldest daughter-in-law and her younger son, who had just married last year.

Their conditions weren't that great, yet they still took care of them.

Liang Hongyu didn't know how to respond.

If she argued, Aunt Wu would get really angry, to the point of wanting to teach her a lesson with a sieve.

"There's nothing troublesome about lending a hand! Your mother helped out my two sons and daughter plenty when they were little..."

Seeing her granddaughter about to run over out of curiosity, Liang Hongyu had to agree, planning to repay the favor in some other way in the future.

The area behind the mountain was vast and lush, stretching as far as the eye could see.

Even the most experienced hunters wouldn't venture alone into the dangerous depths of the mountains.

The villagers who come here to play would only explore the outskirts, never daring to go too far.

The well-trodden paths near the mountain entrance showed no signs of wildlife.

As Liang Hongyu walked along, she found no traces of animals.

The forest breeze felt refreshing, and Liang Hongyu, after walking for a while, thought that going into the mountains to hunt had been a good decision.

After just a short time, she felt much more at ease, and the unfamiliarity of the place seemed to lessen.

Perhaps it was the aftermath of living through the apocalypse era—after years of constant tension and suddenly relaxing made her want to do nothing.

She even fancifully thought about building a house on the mountain and living in seclusion.

But that wasn't possible.

Back at home, there's a young man who is burdened with debt from her medical expenses and on the brink of starvation was waiting for her to support him.

Liang Hongyu hadn't been walking for long when she encountered a hunter who had gone into the mountains early that morning.

Judging by the weight of the bamboo basket on his back, he had a good haul, but he looked rather disheveled, with muddy clothes and torn sleeves and pant legs.

The original Liang Hongyu occasionally ran into him in the mountains.

She knew his surname was Hong, and he lived at the east end of the village.

He was one of the best hunters in the area.

"Uncle Hong, you're heading back already," Liang Hongyu greeted him.
