Lecturing The Growing Up Boys (Part 5)

Realizing now that she herself was the cause, her complex gaze reflected obvious disbelief.

She knew Huo Tianzhou was frail and couldn't survive on his own.

If he were thrown into an apocalypse, expecting him to see the next day's sunrise would be impossible.

But she hadn't expected him to be so weak that a simple grab from her could leave such severe, lasting bruises.

Liang Hongyu felt relieved that she had held back her strength at the time; otherwise, she might have seriously injured Huo Tianzhou's hand.

In order to avoid making him even more uncomfortable, Liang Hongyu looked away, picked up the kitchen knife, and headed out.

At the door, she remembered she had forgotten something and turned back.

She grabbed a bowl from the dish rack, then went outside to prepare the pheasant, leaving it aside until the water boiled.

After washing her hands, she stood in the yard for a moment, thinking.

She then decided to go to the main hall and find the medicinal wine the family had soaked before.

The medicinal wine was stored in a slightly chipped ceramic jar, about the size of Liang Hongyu's palm.

She removed the tightly sealed wooden cork, sniffed a few familiar herbal scents to ensure it was okay, and then carried the jar to the kitchen.

Huo Tianzhou hadn't noticed the bruises on his hand before, nor did he realize they were as severe as they appeared.

Even if he had seen them earlier, he hadn't considered treating them or applying any medicine to speed up recovery.

Now, seeing Liang Hongyu bring the medicinal wine, he lifted his hand to receive it, but Liang Hongyu didn't hand him the ceramic jar.

Instead, she glanced around, then walked over to the square bamboo stool leaning against the wall and placed it beside him.

The pot of boiling water was positioned against the wall.

Huo Tianzhou sat down with a stack of dry firewood and straw behind him, piled nearly as tall as a person.

The space left in the middle of the stove was just enough for one person.

With the addition of the bamboo stool, the area felt cramped.

Liang Hongyu examined the setup and then used her leg to hook the stool further out, creating more space before sitting down.

Understanding her intention, Huo Tianzhou didn't get a chance to say anything before Liang Hongyu uncorked the jar and poured some medicinal wine into her palm.

Placing the jar on the floor, she grabbed his arm and began rubbing the wine onto the bruised area with firm pressure.

The action was forceful and not to be resisted.

Huo Tianzhou grimaced as Liang Hongyu rubbed his arm vigorously.

After just a few strokes, Huo Tianzhou's arm turned red, and his eyes misted over from the sensation.

He looked away.

Liang Hongyu focused on her task, repeating the motion with a determined intensity.

This type of medicinal wine required strong rubbing to be effective in dispersing the bruising quickly.

Therefore, she applied it with significant force.
