Going Into The Mountain Again (Part 3)

After a moment of not hearing any further movements behind her, Liang Hongyu turned around.

Huo Tianzhou stood a few steps away from her and stared at her blankly.

His clothes were a little bit too big for him, hanging loosely and making him look even thinner.

Standing in the dim morning light, he looked like a gust of wind could blow him away.

Liang Hongyu glanced at him and then turned back.

Only then did Huo Tianzhou seem to remember himself, and he moved away to wash his face, fully waking up in the process.

He noticed that Liang Hongyu was carving something.

As he walked closer, he saw a few bamboo sticks on the stone slab beside Liang Hongyu.

They were short, about half the length of an adult's palm, with one end blunt and the other sharp.

Huo Tianzhou had never seen anything like it before and couldn't figure out what it could be used for.

He stood nearby, watching Liang Hongyu's hands.

She held a small knife in one hand and a bamboo stick in the other.

Whether it was because she had just woken up or not, her head was slightly bowed, and her movements looked relaxed and unhurried, yet there was a practiced skill in the way she carved.

She finishes one piece and sets it aside before picking up a new one.

After watching for a while without understanding what she was making, Huo Tianzhou saw the prepared bamboo basket in the yard and realized that Liang Hongyu was planning to go into the mountains.

He then turned around to prepare chicken feed.

Liang Hongyu had been keeping an eye on Huo Tianzhou's actions.

Seeing his curiosity but no questions, she didn't initiate conversation either and focused on carving the bamboo tips.

These were her preferred self-defense tools during the apocalypse, ready for any unforeseen circumstances.

She planned to go deep into the mountains today.

If she encountered large wild animals, these small tools could come in handy.

With limited time, she only carved a few, and they were rather rough.

After brushing the debris off her clothes, she put the small knife and bamboo tips into her cloth bag, got up, and walked out.

Huo Tianzhou took a plank and sat by the fence, placing yesterday's harvested chicken grass in the basket at his feet, preparing to chop it up to feed the chickens.

As Liang Hongyu passed by, she glanced at him, then went to the corner to wash her hands before heading into the kitchen.

When she came out again, she walked straight to Huo Tianzhou's side.

He had just finished chopping a handful of chicken grass and was about to start on a new one when Liang Hongyu grabbed his hand and placed a boiled egg in it.

"After you eat, remember to wash the medicine pot," she said.

The egg was still wet and hot from being freshly boiled.

Startled by the sudden handoff, Huo Tianzhou couldn't hold it for long.
