Hunting The Wild Boar (Part 6)

"Wild boars are charging at you, and you're just standing there like an idiot! Can't you use the weapon in your hand or at least get out of the way?" Qian Huihong yelled at him after rushing over, unable to hold back his frustration.

If it hadn't been for Liang Hongyu pushing him aside in time, this fool would have lost his life, yet he still wants to learn how to hunt!

Qian Huizhong whose face had turned pale because of fear, finally spoke, "I-I'm okay..."

On the other side, the other wild boar was still in a standoff with the hunting dogs.

After Liang Hongyu killed one wild boar, she turned around and rushed over to help.

It wasn't the time for scolding people now.

After Qian Huihong finished reprimanding his foolish younger brother, he and the others who had run over with him hurried back to assist.

Qian Huizhong finally snapped out of his daze, grabbing his weapon and running over.

This boar was even larger, with the hunting dogs tangling it up from both sides.

The archers seized the opportunity to shoot arrows, but without hitting any vital spots, the arrows only served to infuriate the boar.

A cornered wild boar becomes ferociously angry and will attack relentlessly, fighting to its last breath.

The intense barking of the dogs continued as the wild boar was surrounded.

Those on the outside could only look for an opportunity to land a killing blow while on the move.

This boar was particularly fierce and strong.

Wu Erlang's machete was knocked out of his hand by the boar's brute force, and he was thrown against a nearby rock.

The encirclement broke, and the wild boar charged straight at him.

"Erlang!"

Liang Hongyu grabbed a spear from someone nearby and hurled it forcefully.

The spear landed in the ground near Wu Erlang's feet.

He pulled it out with both hands and thrust it two inches behind the wild boar's eyes as it charged.

Blood splattered all over him as the wild boar's roar echoed through the mountains.

The boar's final burst of strength slammed Wu Erlang against the rocks once again.

After expending its last breath, the boar collapsed heavily to the ground.

Wu Erlang released the spear, leaned back against the rock, and sat down, exhausted.

Seeing Liang Hongyu approaching him, he caught his breath and couldn't help but raise a thumbs-up, "You've got guts, throwing that spear like that."

Fortunately, the spear had landed just beside his shoe, not a hair's breadth off.

If Liang Hongyu had missed by even a fraction, it could have been him who was lying there instead of the boar.

"In the heat of the moment, I didn't think much," Liang Hongyu replied, then asked, "How are you feeling?"

Liang Hongyu was very confident in her shoot.

From her position, she couldn't target the boar's vital spots.

If her throw hadn't been precise, Wu Erlang would have been in grave danger.

The moss on the rock face had cushioned the impact.

Judging by Wu Erlang's expression, he didn't seem to get hurt badly.

Wu Erlang waved his hand, "Just a couple of hits to my back. I think it's just some bruising. I'll rub on some medicinal wine when we get back, and it'll be fine."

They had been chasing the wild boar from the outer mountains to the inner areas, and now they were all utterly exhausted.

Seeing the boar finally down, several of them collapsed to the ground, too tired to care about the dirt.

They sat on the dew-covered grass, soaking their pants but lacking the energy to move.

Everyone looked disheveled, their clothes damp with sweat and torn by tree branches.

Some of them had even lost their shoes and had their feet scratched up.

They sat on the ground, breathing heavily.

Among them, Liang Hongyu appeared relatively better off, her clothes only smeared with dirt and leaves.

Qian Huihong walked over and said to her, "Thanks a lot. If you hadn't pushed my brother away in time, he would've been dead."

Then he turned his head and smacked Qian Huizhong on the head. "Hurry up and thank her."

"Liang Hongyu, thank you for saving me," Qian Huizhong said while bowing his head in genuine gratitude.

After coming to his senses, he realized how dangerous the situation had been.

If Liang Hongyu hadn't pushed him aside, he would indeed be dead.

"No problem. I was the closest one to you. Anyone else would have done the same," Liang Hongyu replied.

Qian Huizhong was around the same age as Huo Tianzhou.

As Liang Hongyu looked at Qian Huizhong, she couldn't help but think of Huo Tianzhou.

She wondered how Huo Tianzhou would fare if he went hunting in the mountains...

"This time, I'll have stories to brag about for half a year! We usually can't even catch one wild boar, but this time we got two. It's unheard of in the village!"

One of the men, having rested enough, looked at the fallen boars, still in disbelief that they had managed to hunt two wild boars.

"Half a year? This is a fully grown adult boar, the hardest one to deal with! You need to tell your grandchildren about this!" another chimed in.

"Zeng Qiang, you don't even have a son yet, and you're already thinking about grandchildren!" someone nearby teased.

The group had made a great haul and no one was seriously injured.

Having caught their breath, they started chatting and joking.

In this era, pork was very expensive.

With two wild boars in their haul, each person would get several pounds of meat once they returned to the village.

The mere thought of it rejuvenated them.

...

Hearing the barking of their hunting dogs, Shen Niu knew that Butcher Ma and his team had encountered wild boars.

He led his team to turn back and provide support.

The two groups joined forces to hunt the wild boars.

Two people were injured, so they arranged for someone to stay behind and look after them, while he took the others to find Qian Huihong.
