Chapter 179 - The power of death may be something that the Death Eaters cannot handle.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

Snape and Rosaria waited as the shadows began to approach the place, while they struck the ground, smoke spreading and finally revealing people wearing black robes with skull masks.

They were Death Eaters—three of them.

Snape had never encountered a Death Eater like this before, aside from the former patriarch of the Norton family, whom he had killed months ago, and his brother, who was also a Death Eater.

The new arrivals—two men and a woman—quickly scanned the scene in silence, not recognizing the hooded man or the woman with black hair due to the effect of her mask. Clearly, they were acting in secrecy, just like them.

Their gaze fell upon the three family members lying in the courtyard, visibly trembling despite being paralyzed.

"The Cruciatus Curse..." the woman said, raising an eyebrow as she observed the scene.

"Who are you?" the man, who appeared to be in his fifties, asked, his eyes glinting dangerously as he looked at the two.

"Does it matter?" Snape said.

"How arrogant..." the other man remarked. "Do you even know who you're dealing with and what our masks mean? We serve the Dark Lord—you should be begging now that we've arrived," he said with an arrogant tone.

"Big words... but we know who you are. Either way, it doesn't matter what we talk about here—we're going to fight regardless..." Severus said in his distorted voice. After all, it was a waste of time.

"This guy!" the woman said, raising her wand. Rosaria quickly prepared herself as well, but the older man placed a hand on his companion—he had something else to ask.

"You must be the alchemist, aren't you?" he asked, but Snape did not reply.

"So, that's a yes... To think we would find the one our master is searching for in this place, invading the house of one of our members..." he said.

Snape ignored the man and looked at the three paralyzed figures on the ground. "You said we were finished, didn't you? Let's see how your friends handle my shadow army," he said.

"Shadow army?" the man raised an eyebrow behind his mask.

"I just want to see how my soldiers fare against real wizards, so I'll use you as test subjects. It's no coincidence that I waited patiently for you to arrive," Severus said calmly.

The next moment, catching the men by surprise, his shadow beneath his feet suddenly began to expand without warning.

"What is this?" the woman murmured in shock as the shadow started to rise behind Snape, growing upward as it took form.

Kargalgan, the orc shaman, began to emerge, forming behind Snape. Those unfamiliar with him—everyone except Snape and Rosaria—could not hide their astonishment at the creature made of shadows and red skin. Even those who were paralyzed could see it, their eyes flickering with surprise.

"First, block the entire area—I don't want anyone leaving or entering with spatial spells," Snape ordered as a circle appeared behind Kargalgan. The orc began selecting symbols before the wizards could properly react. The next moment, a shield began to form, starting from above the Norton estate and covering the entire property.

"I can't let you escape, can I?" Severus said, noticing, for the first time, that they were becoming cautious of him.

"Avada Kedavra!" the man shouted, aiming at Snape as the green bolt shot toward him. However, Snape did not move. Instead, a red orc materialized in front of him, placing itself between Snape and the attack. The spell struck the creature, turning it into shadows, but it did not pass through to Snape.

"This is certainly useful for protection," Snape remarked, watching as the destroyed orc began regenerating once again.

"Go," Snape ordered as more and more orcs began to appear. Only half a dozen of them, but they advanced toward the Death Eaters. It was ironic—they had to fight the dead.

The next moment, the Death Eaters transformed into smoke, vanishing into the air as the orcs missed their initial strike.

"They are not as easy as the other dark wizards I've faced..." Snape muttered, though he knew Dumbledore was far more powerful. But these ones—these would be handled by the shadows themselves.

They first tried to pass through the barrier before being repelled by Kargalgan's magic, which was different from this world, making it even harder for them to deal with.

Seeing that they couldn't escape, they turned back toward the mansion, landing on the roof while looking visibly annoyed by the situation.

"We have to defeat him, whatever they are..." the older man said as the orcs ran toward the mansion, trying to reach them.

"Those things can regenerate!" the man exclaimed, seeing that the orc he had hit with the Killing Curse was back and running toward them, followed closely by two others.

"What are these things? Kill the summoner!" the man shouted, pointing at Snape once again.

Another Avada Kedavra flew toward him, while another, cast by the woman, shot toward Rosaria, who prepared to dodge the spell. However, both in front of Snape and Rosaria, orcs appeared, standing against the Killing Curse, stopping it as the shadows were destroyed, only to begin regenerating using Severus's mana.

"He can summon these things endlessly?!" the man said, unable to comprehend how Snape's powers worked.

"We'll have to use a different spell. I need you to help me with this, but first, we have to deal with these strange monsters!" the older man said, pointing at the orcs climbing the mansion walls, trying to reach the roof and kill them.

Countless Avada Kedavras were fired, eliminating every approaching orc, while Snape continued watching them without making a move. The orcs that had shielded them had already recovered and were advancing toward the house once more.

"They don't stop regenerating?! How is this possible? Nothing should withstand the Killing Curse!" They couldn't believe it, even as they kept trying to hit Snape, but each time, a shadow would rise to protect him, recovering instantly and going after them again.

The Norton family could only watch the chaos unfold above their mansion, with orcs trying to reach the wizards while they kept destroying them, only for them to regenerate and continue advancing.

"Let's go!" the man suddenly commanded as they transformed into smoke again, leaving the mansion's roof to distance themselves from the now more than twenty-five regenerating orcs.

"We'll use Fiendfyre, but we need all three of us to control it, understand?!" the older man ordered as he began pointing his wand where Snape, Rosaria, and the orc shaman stood.

"This spell..." Snape raised an eyebrow as flames began forming from their three wands. Since they couldn't hit them directly with the Killing Curse due to its single-target nature, they were now using a large-area spell to eliminate the summoner of those monsters.

Kargalgan prepared to defend himself, watching as the flames started to emerge from their wands before a fiery explosion erupted in front of them.

"You don't need to protect us, Kargalgan. I want to test something," Snape said as the shaman obeyed his king's orders.

Snape glanced at Rosaria, who was preparing herself. "Stay close to me," Snape said, and she nodded. They even seemed willing to sacrifice the Norton family right there, as this spell would engulf the entire courtyard.

The next moment, the fire began to take shape, resembling a massive dragon, while the three Death Eaters appeared to struggle slightly to control it. The next moment, the dragon expanded in all directions and charged toward Snape and Rosaria as Kargalgan created his own shield.

The flames consumed everything while the Norton family burned alive, unable to scream due to the paralysis spell.

The three Death Eaters watched the entire area burn, along with the shadows, and even the mansion was caught in the flames, spreading everywhere. They could hear the screams of the portraits inside.

"Stop now!" the older man ordered, seeing that the entire area had been affected and that they had to stop before they themselves became victims of their own spell.

"We killed them..." the man murmured.

"It doesn't matter now. They were hostages, and the Dark Lord does not want weak people..." the older man said.

"Why hasn't the shield disappeared?! We still can't get out of here!" the woman warned, pointing upward, seeing the magical barrier still standing over the property.

"Those monsters! They're regenerating!" the man pointed at multiple shadows doing the same as before, both in the burning courtyard and on the roof of the blazing mansion.

"Damn it... They weren't destroyed by that?!" the old man said, watching as, in the middle of the courtyard, a shield began to vanish. But within it, only Kargalgan remained.

In front of him, a dark layer stood there, solid like another shield, yet behaving like any other shadow. It began to shift, revealing a coiled serpent, with Snape and Rosaria in the middle, along with two unconscious Muggles, untouched by the magic. After all, that shadowy serpent was not so simple.

"This?! It looks like a basilisk!" the old man could not have been more shocked as he watched the shadow begin to extend around Snape, staring at its enemies and letting out a deep, rumbling hiss.

"You are right. This is a thousand-year-old basilisk... They're quite effective against magic, after all. Impenetrable shields," Severus said calmly, as another shadow emerged beside him, forming into a centaur with a spear in hand.

The shadows of the orcs sank back into the ground, racing toward Snape across the burning grass, while the only untouched area was the one the basilisk had shielded.

"It's a shame you killed the Norton family. I wanted to show them how I would kill you... and that I do not fear your master, Voldemort," Snape said as a system message reminded him that he could not draw attention from Voldemort and his Death Eaters due to a curse. Because of this, he could say the name freely, unlike others.

The Death Eaters were visibly shaken hearing Snape speak the name, yet nothing happened.

Snape could have saved the Norton family, but letting them die at the hands of their own allies seemed far more interesting. However, seeing their bodies, he had another idea. He only had Ouroboros, Kargalgan, and Voltaran as his shadows...

His eyes fell on the three Death Eaters, who seemed to be reaching the peak of fear, and Snape smiled.

"I can feel the fear of the unknown in you... You call yourselves Death Eaters, but what do you really understand about death?" Snape said, stepping forward as his movement created a pressure that extinguished all the flames in the grass, leaving only the mansion ablaze.

"What do you mean...?" the older man furrowed his brow.

"It's very simple. Let me show you the true power of the dead," Snape said before raising a finger.

"Arise."

In the next moment, the three burned corpses began to stir, as a slow surge of shadow erupted, growing until it took the form of three humanoid figures.

"Is this necromancy!!??" the old man stammered, realizing the implication of what he was witnessing.

"Interesting... They don't need their physical wands..." Snape observed with curiosity, watching the black wands in their hands.

"Now, I'll let you fight... If you don't defeat them, I'll send my other three shadows to join the battle. Good luck," Snape said, as the three newly risen shadows nodded without hesitation before kneeling before their new king.

Snape ignored this gesture and gave his command. The Death Eaters were still paralyzed as the three shadows raised their wands toward them.

Author's Note: Do you think it makes sense to give them their own black wands? Since physical wands can be tracked, I'd like your opinion on this.
