Chapter 205 - Severus Is Dead ?

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Demonic Tower.

...

...

More than a month had passed since Severus Snape disappeared, which left many people stunned by the situation, even those who were confident he would show up soon. But as the weeks went by, rumors began to surface, starting with an international scandal that placed the Durmstrang Institute in a rather difficult position.

England, with its new Minister of Magic wanting to show some results, demanded an explanation for the disappearance of Hogwarts' champion, who was later declared dead after more than three weeks with no indication of his whereabouts.

This was declared in the Daily Prophet, claiming that Severus Snape was dead, shocking the wizarding world. Despite the controversies surrounding his name, many recognized him as a brilliant wizard who had reached a high level within the magical community. After all, everyone knew him for his talent in potions, but his development in potion creation further elevated his prestige, with many claiming he had developed new areas of magic.

Many were interested in the spells he cast during the dueling championship, as they were spells never seen before. Obviously, this drew a lot of attention to him.

Even though Severus had been quite arrogant in refusing to give interviews and keeping a low profile, the wizarding world mourned his death.

The schools in Scotland were still trying to find him, even if it was just his dead body, but nothing. He had simply vanished.

Mrs. ____ had isolated herself, not wanting anyone else to approach her, while saying she was a danger and that they should even destroy her portrait, claiming it was a curse pulling innocent children to their deaths. She was deeply shaken by the champion's disappearance and spent most of her time crying, cleaning her handkerchiefs with her tears and snot.

The greatest wizards from the Scandinavian countries were also called in to help find him, but Severus Snape had simply disappeared, and there was no news of him anywhere in the world, while his whereabouts were being sought by contacting all magical communities, hoping to find him alive or dead, with the British Minister for Magic wanting to show his competence to the wizarding community.

Besides this scandal, everything seemed calm, functioning normally. There were no further movements from the dark lords. Both Voldemort and the second Dark Lord were keeping a low profile. There had been no incidents related to either of them.

But still, a question was raised: Snape disappeared in front of a painting, which was very strange when the second Dark Lord was always after paintings, raising the question of whether magical portraits had something special that no one else understood.

Most did not associate the idea that a student champion of the Hogwarts tournament could be the second Dark Lord, but some had doubts about this, especially since it hadn't happened to anyone else—and even more with stories circulating that Snape had been hunting paintings around the school in recent months, even entering some of them.

In any case, the Aurors went to Snape's house, where his father was, although there was news that he had moved, with only one person knowing this—being the former Minister of Magic—but no one really knew for sure.

When they knocked on the door and a grumpy middle-aged man opened it, he gave a suspicious look to those strangely dressed men.

Tobias Snape was not in the best phase of his life. Despite the months that had passed since Snape never returned, he still clearly suffered the consequences of what his son had done to him.

He was limping, and the doctors had said he would never regain movement in his leg.

"What do you want?" he said in a very grumpy tone.

"We came to give you some information, Tobias Snape, as the closest living relative of Severus Snape, your son," one of the agents said, although he found it odd that Tobias was no longer Severus' legal guardian, according to Gringotts bank, and Severus himself was listed as solely responsible for himself.

"That disgrace? Was he finally arrested for his crimes?" Tobias spat immediately, with a voice full of rage, while the two Aurors in front of him exchanged a slightly surprised glance. This man clearly didn't like his son.

"No... Unfortunately, we're here to inform you that he's been declared dead," the Auror said.

"He's dead?!" Tobias couldn't have been more surprised.

"Yes," the other agent said, while a satisfied smile began to spread across Tobias's lips.

"That pest is dead! Finally, some good news!" he declared, with many teeth missing from his mouth due to the beatings Snape had given him the last two times they had met.

"Yes... I guess..." The two agents were a bit lost as the man closed the door with great joy.

"What kind of father celebrates his son's death..." one of them muttered.

"Go figure. He's a Muggle, some of them don't like wizards," his colleague replied as they walked away.

At the Black mansion, Astraea was biting her nails, despite having abandoned that habit decades ago when she was just a teenager. Clearly, the family was in a difficult position.

"You need to calm down. He might be coming back," her husband's portrait said, while Astraea kept shaking her head.

"It's been over a month... and he hasn't shown up. Now he's been declared dead... Our family will suffer the consequences of You-Know-Who..." she said with a worried look.

"We made our choice, Astraea. Now we have to wait for him to return. I don't think he would fall like that. Besides, you saw the future... You saw him destroying England. Why doubt that now?" the man in the portrait said seriously.

"..." She finally seemed to stop pacing and turned her gaze to the portrait, nodding.

"I think you're right," was all she said.

They hoped Severus would return before it was too late, without knowing how much longer he would remain there.

"Our granddaughter also seems calm, though she's in a bad mood. She told me he wouldn't die like that," the portrait added, as Bellatrix had stated her opinion about Snape's death, not believing in that nonsense—

but still in a bad mood that he hadn't appeared yet.

At the Black family mansion, things felt tense. Albert Greengrass was in his office... quite worried that Severus Snape had ultimately been declared dead.

He was his biggest buyer, and he had accumulated so many things. Despite his daughter insisting he was alive, Albert still saw the situation with pessimistic eyes.

In the Prince family, the eldest brother among the three—two of whom were now deceased, with Eileen having died long ago and the other brother recently killed after failing to escape the city they attacked—

the oldest didn't know exactly what had happened to his brother, but he knew the body was later found with his throat slit.

He was being heavily investigated after that by the ministries, and his life hadn't been easy this past month.

However, when he saw that day's newspaper declaring Snape dead, his eyes quickly lit up with joy.

He had been waiting for this, waiting for his nephew to be found dead, and it finally happened after a month.

He wanted Snape dead to see if the family's situation would change, since Snape couldn't produce heirs.

Since then, his days had become lighter—after all, he had joined the Death Eaters specifically to kill Severus Snape.

At Hogwarts, people were quite divided.

Some were truly grieving the news that Snape was dead, while others were satisfied with the outcome, seeing it as a form of revenge against Snape, holding onto negative feelings about him—especially resentment for what he had done the previous year.

The professors officially declared that Severus was dead, with many deeply saddened by the confirmation. Even Professor Minerva went into mourning.

Despite Snape's poor behavior toward her the previous year, this year he had improved and attended classes, showing great talent.

Professor Slughorn was the most devastated, having lost one of the greatest students he had ever taught. He had hoped Snape would create great things to place on his wall of successful students. He believed Severus would have a major role in the magical world and a bright future.

At the same time, there were some young people who were quite indifferent to Snape's death, while at that moment, Pandora skipped cheerfully through the Room of Requirement, stopping beside Dobby, who was cleaning and dusting the grand entrance of the room.

"Hello Dobby, how are you?" she asked brightly.

"Miss Pandora! Dobby is still a little sad with Master Snape's absence... Has there been any news of Master?" he asked hopefully.

Every day, Dobby waited to hear something about Severus, but as usual, Pandora shook her head in reply.

"I see..." Dobby lowered his head, even more saddened.

But Pandora smiled and spoke with confidence. "Not yet... but it won't be long before he returns. It's already been a month—he's never been away this long," she said cheerfully, and he nodded.

At the same time, one of the doors opened at the edge of the Room of Requirement, with the girls exiting after their training inside. Clarice had her hair a bit messy and was drenched in sweat.

At her side, Rosária, the History professor, walked calmly.

"Oh, are you training now?" Pandora asked, turning her gaze to them.

"Yes, she wanted training, so I gave it to her," Rosária said with an arrogant tone.

Clarice glanced with a look that showed she didn't like the comment, but said nothing. She certainly wasn't stronger than the half-vampire—not that it mattered much, since she didn't have two hundred years of experience like Rosária did.

"Any news of Severus?" Rosária asked Pandora, who shook her head.

"No, nothing in the paper today," the girl replied.

"It's been a week since he was declared dead by the Ministry..." Rosária seemed pensive about that. She asked about Snape every single day without fail.

"Does it matter? He's fine and will be back soon," Clarice murmured. And they all nodded in agreement.

They had confidence that Snape was okay, because the Shadows that worked for him continued doing their jobs tirelessly. While they brewed potions, they kept sending them to his stores nonstop.

That was the living proof that, as far as they were concerned, he was alive.

That's why they weren't just mourning like some others at the school.

"I hope he comes back soon," Rosária murmured.

At the same time, in Gryffindor, someone was crying nonstop.

"Lily... you've been like this for weeks," a friend said, while Lily was in tears, her face stained with dry trails of crying, sitting on her bed with her knees hugged to her chest, mourning the loss of her friend—or rather, the one she loved.

The girl affected by the sea potion clearly had a shattered heart.

"Leave me alone," Lily murmured, without moving.

"Forget him, Lily. He didn't even care that much about you," her friend tried to offer some advice, weighing the passionate look Lily had always had for Snape.

"He never returned any of it and was always indifferent... even kept his distance from you, especially this year."

"Let me be alone," was all she said, while her friend sighed.

"Alright, do whatever you want. Just don't forget that the mid-year holidays are starting, and you said you weren't going to stay at Hogwarts. So you better get ready. We only have a few days."

With that, she left the room, leaving Lily there, isolated, still deeply affected by what had happened.
