Chapter 233: Galactus

[3rd POV]

With the looming threat of Galactus, and his eventual arrival coming, Gwen and her people began to work in overtime. Tens of thousands of clones were made en masse, making more weapons, more energy fields, and even more shields surrounding Earth, and even some that surrounded and were stationed on other planets in the area.

All prepared so that they can stop Galactus when he comes.

SHIELD had been working with the world governments, making sure that they understood that they CANNOT panic, and that they WOULD need to keep the general populace under control so that they do not get in the way of the plan.

All the government knew was that the heroes of Earth would be fighting against the threat that was invading, and that they had a rather big plan undergoing, one that could not be intruded on, or it would cause some serious issues.

The Governments of the world threw a fit over it, of course, but in a situation like this, they decided that letting SHIELD and the Heroes take over, was the best course of action. And it was because of this that around the world, more weapons were built and ready to be fired off against the oncoming threat.

But finally, after two days of working hard to insure the safety of Earth and its inhabitants. Gwen felt it, the entity was now in the solar system, and would arrive at Earth within literal minutes.

At the moment she was in the clearing outside of her city, the heroes of Earth, the heavy hitters that could survive in space, or could do meaningful damage against the Silver Surfer, were all there. The last lines of defense, aka the various Jean Grey's, Franklin, and even Nate, who had been growing rapidly over the past few days.

"He's here, in the solar system. He'll be within the lines of sight of Earth within minutes, and once that happens, it'll be up to all of you to hold back Silver Surfer while I personally deal with Galactus. The battle shouldn't last too long, as it will end once I starve him enough, or force him to flee somewhere else. Remember, we are NOT killing either of them, as they MUST survive. I cannot tell you the entire truth of why, but trust me, it is better off that they live" Gwen said, as they all nodded.

They trusted Gwen enough to not question what she was saying. And with the way Gwen knew the most about Galactus and Silver Surfer, it was likely that she wasn't lying about whatever it was that could be worse than them. And something that was worse than a literal eater of worlds? Not something they wanted to think about.

"When are you going to fire the orbital cannons? And do we need to steer clear when you fire them?" Blue Marvel asked, as he had been coaxed into helping by Nick Fury himself. The man was powerful, and would be a huge boon to stopping the Surfer from intruding on the fight she would be having.

"I'm going to fire them when they're needed. And no, you won't. I'll be making barriers when I do fire, so you won't need to worry about them. The energy fields will be at full power the second I can have them active, and the shields surrounding Earth will be activating in a few moment" Gwen responded, easing their worries as Gwen stopped, and looked up, the rest of them looking up with wide eyes too.

"He's here" Gwen stated, as they saw his figure blur on by, their faces paling slightly as they realized what it is that they would be fighting against.

"That is him? He's...huge" Carol said, now understanding why he was called the Eater of Worlds.

"That is. Now lets go! We cannot waste any time!" Gwen said, as they all blinked before nodding, taking off as they all floated into the skies above, taking off at full speed towards Galactus and his Herald.

"I'm putting the city on full lockdown, all security measures are coming up, and the orbital cannons are being primed. You all will remain here to protect the city, unless I explicately call for you. I'm leaving the last line of defense up to all of you" Gwen told them, as they nodded, knowing their duties already, as she took off in a blur of speed.

Space shattered and Gwen blurred, reappearing over Earth, as a large dome of energy began to coat it. A dome made of magic, pure scientific advancement, and all sorts of other energies, like chakra, nature energy, and anything else that can be used. Hundreds of thousands of runes engraved into it, strengthening the shield many times over.

All around the planet, the energy fields began to glow. The fields above Mars began to glow as well, as around the solar system, the orbital cannons were primed, ready to fire with a singular word from Gwen, as she floated above Earth, staring up at the incoming form of Galactus, her eyes glowing.

"So you're Galactus, huh?" Gwen said out loud, as she stared at the massive being that stopped far from her, but enough that it felt "Close". He was powerful, stronger than her by a long shot, that much Gwen could tell easily enough.

But, thankfully, he was not impossible for her to defeat, as the heroes all flooded in, stopping next to her as they all turned to Galactus, breathing in to calm themselves. Their eyes zeroed in on the Surfer, who floated in front of the large entity.

"Your resistance is futile" Silver Surfer spoke simply, his unique voice echoing through the space in front of them, which...isn't exactly possible, but it did. Gwen looked at him, he was immensely powerful too, but not enough for it to be a problem for the heroes around her.

"You all know what to do" Gwen said simply, as they all nodded, before taking off with immense speed, as they first blow slammed into Silver Surfers side, coming from Blue Marvel, while the others chased after him, leaving Gwen and the Eater of Worlds alone.

"You wish to stop me from feeding, do you? It is futile, little worm" Galactus's voice boomed, as she looked up at him, a sigh escaping her lips as her form began to glow a bright golden color.

Space around her shook and crackled as she began to radiate more and more power, as the energy fields around the solar system began to active according to her will, causing Galactus to stop and frown.

"What are you doing to me?" Galactus asked, as he began to feel something drain him. It was slow going, weak, but...it was draining him.

"I'm doing what I need to in order to stop you. I will not allow you to eat this planet, Galactus. You will leave this place, and never return" Gwen replied, knowing the man could hear her. In response, he just scowled, as she felt a power begin to weigh on her heavily.

She only scowled in return, as she stomped the intrusion as if it was nothing, her true energy beginning to radiate out of her being, as she spread her will and spoke.

"Fire"

Around the solar system, the orbital cannons began to glow brightly, sounds akin to that of Godzilla before he attacked, sounded out, before a deep earth shattering BOOM sounded out from each and every one of them. Large beams of energy and power slammed against Galactus a second later, as he let out a roar of pain.

With the orbital cannons repeatedly firing at him at full power, she blurred with the speed force running through her veins, as she inwardly began to use her power.

*Boost* *Boost* *Boost* *Boost*

She boosted four times, which multiplied her power by an immense 16 times, as it stacked, 1 times 2 to 2, then to 4 and then to 8 and then to 16. The power rolling through her was immense, but controllable as she struck with a blade she had created, causing the large entity to stumble.

Her blows moved faster than the speed of light as she threw blow after blow against the entity, doing no damage to him, but she was bringing him pain, and he was being drained of power. That was enough for her, as she did her best to dodge and block every beam of energy that blurred towards her.

She couldn't block and dodge them all though, as this was the Power Cosmic, a force above her.

And boy did it hurt like a bitch when it did hit her, but thankfully she was immortal, and it didn't seem to permanently harm her besides taking a bit longer to regenerate than usual, as instead of an instant, it took a couple of seconds.

Either way, she was doing her best, as the energy fields were draining him, the orbital cannons were firing at him at full might, and the Surfer was being held back by the combined might of the heaviest hitters of Earth.

It was working shockingly well.

And it was ONLY working because Galactus was already hungry. Had he been fed, even half full, he would have been many times more powerful, and would have likely caused her a lot more problems.

"Leave, Eater of Worlds! Earth is under my protection!" Gwen repeated, as the entity just roared his energy shaking space and time, as reality itself began to shatter and warp around them, but Gwen ignored it as she imbued the power of the Emperor and Chaos Gods through her, her power rising further as the Gates of Babylon began to form around them, firing weapon after weapon at the Eater of Worlds.

It was then that Gwen blinked, an idea coming to mind that could do more damage than anything she had utilized so far, something that could actually make the entity in front of her leave, a weapon that had been sitting within her Gates for so very long.

A weapon that was ready to see the light of the universe.

And so, a golden gate formed next to her, as she reached her hand out, clones working to hold him still as she gripped the hilt of the weapon that was revealing itself. A large weapon of gold, red, and alien origin. A large weapon with runes and engravings across it.

The weapon known as...

Enuma Eilish, aka...EA.

Gripping the Weapon in her hands, she stared down the Eater of Worlds, and lifted it, pointing it at him, as she spoke.

"I will tell you of the beginning. Heaven and Earth split, nothingness praised creation, my sword of rupture cleaved the world! Mortar of Stars, heavens hell is the eve of creation's celebration"

As Gwen paused, she activated another of her abilities, this being...transfer.

Basically, she just boosted the power of the EA in her hands by 16x.

And thus, she finished her words, as the brightly glowing weapon, bathed in crimson light of immense power, began to charge up more and more power.

"Enuma Eilish!" Gwen yelled out, as the weapon paused for a moment, before a bright red beam of pure, almighty destructive power slammed against Galactus, illuminating the space around Earth with a bright crimson beam, one that spread so far, that it quite literally stopped near the sun itself.

A beam of energy that could obliterate stars, end worlds, and cause supernovas.

A beam of energy that caused the Eater of Worlds genuine, true harm, as he let out a scream of true pain. His entire being was illuminated with the light, as it slowly began to fade revealing Galactus, who was...not looking pleased.

"I apologize for this, Galactus, but I cannot let you eat this planet. I can help you find another to consume, but only if you swear to never attempt to eat this planet, or any other within the solar system again" Gwen said, her figure glowing as she stared at him seriously, the orbital cannons stopping for a moment as she kept herself ready to block any sort of attacks that he could launch towards her.

She'd rather not get hit by any of his beams, not again.

And was it cruel of her to say that she could help him find another planet to consume? Probably, but he was a necessary evil in this universe, and if she had to point him in another direction to keep Earth and her solar system safe, then she would do so without hesitation.

And as she stared up at the being in front of her, Gwen watched a deep scowl form on his face.

"Fine...send me to a planet to consume, and I will never return here, annoying worm. You are lucky that you have such powerful and annoying defenses, or else I would consume this planet and make you watch" Galactus said with a deep scowl on his massive face, causing Gwen to chuckle, watching as Silver Surfer blurred over, as Gwen motioned for the heroes to stop attacking.

"Well then...goodbye!" Gwen said as she teleported them off to a planet she sensed far off, full of energy and also overridden with populace, a perfect place for him to consume, as horrible as that sounds.

Watching as the Eater of Worlds was sent off, the heroes all blanked, before looking to Gwen.

"That...that's it? Shouldn't it have been harder?" Carol asked, confused. Sure, they had been fighting for around 30 long minutes, but this was...a little underwhelming.

"Hmm? No, it shouldn't have been. If anything, this was longer than I had hypothesized. I'll have to improve the efficiency of the energy fields and the output of the orbital cannons" Gwen muttered, not pleased with the time it took.

"Huh? You mean to improve on them? But I thought those weapons were for Galactus?" Carol asked, alarmed.

"Nah, I had the orbital cannons made a long time ago. They were for anyone who thought they could invade my planet. The energy fields were to be utilized to drain the energy of any entity that attempted anything, instantly turning them into a husk if they were weak enough" Gwen responded as if it was nothing, knowing that the notification had appeared, but she needed to do that particular part alone, and in a safe environment, as she was likely to get knocked out when it happened.

"And you didn't think to tell anyone that you had weapons of mass destruction that you were not going to be getting rid of after Galactus?"

"Nope, it's for the safety of my people. Nothing your governments will say will make a difference, even if they now know of my existence as they no doubt do. I am not some dog they can order around, I am the ruler of a planet, Carol, and you should remember that. Now, I'll be off, as I have important matters to deal with" Gwen responded, not wanting to waste anymore time, as she teleported off.

At the same time, the barrier around the planet let up, and disappeared, but was prepared to be utilized again in the future if needed.

All the while, all the heroes had one thought on their minds.

'What the hell just happened?!'

___________________________________________

That's the end of the chapter!

Sorry if that was underwhelming, but I didn't want the fight to be too long, as that simply isn't the way to do things when it comes to Galactus.

This also means that the Galactus arc is officially over! He will be appearing again in the future of course, but not for a while now.

Next arc is the "Dimensions" Arc, which will include a lot of interactions with dimensions, and more.

Anyways, have a good day!
