Adrian's POV

Emily's arrest spread like wildfire.

I heard the rumors before I even had time to confirm them myself.

They said Mason had ordered it personally, that he'd had her dragged from the packhouse in the middle of the night. That she hadn't even been allowed to speak before the guards locked her away. I wasn't sure how true the details were. But he did have her locked up in the dungeon.

I didn't know her well, but I knew enough.

She was the one who had helped Bethany. The one who had told her about the bomb.

And now, she was paying the price.

I sat on the edge of my bed, fingers pressing into my temple as I tried to think. Mason wouldn't have arrested her without reason. Either he was getting paranoid, or she had made a mistake.

Either way, this wasn't good.

A sharp knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. I didn't even need to answer before the door swung open, and Silas stepped in, his face dark.
