Chapter Nineteen

When Jin barged into his office, Seth was not surprised. He expected it.

"Tell me everything. Am I an angel?"

"Are you?" Seth chuckled.

"Don't fucking joke around! I can't be an angel!" Jin was not usually angry. Seth knew it very well. However, when he was, it was a little hard to calm him down.

"Haven't you read the entire book?"

"I read enough."

"If you read it whole, you would know the answer to your own question."

"Just answer me, damn it!"

"Go and read it," Seth said. It was not like he could not answer Jin. He simply wanted to give him a hard time.

Jin returned only a few hours later. "That's it, isn't it? Except for angels and demons, no one could see another angel or demon?" Jin said as a question, even though it was a fact. "But how am I-?"

"If Agnes is an angel, you are an angel too."

"And our souls are bound together," Jin said.

"Yes," Seth said with distaste.

"I don't understand. When did we bind our souls?"

"Well, that was a long time ago."

As Seth pinned her to the ground, he did not know whether to kill her or kiss her. He wanted to do both. She helped him when he did not need her help. She made things easier for him even though he did not need her to. She forced her way into his life.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Agnes," she said. Her silver eyes were sharp and she had a small smile on her lips.

"Agnes," he said, tasting the word in his mouth. "Aren't you afraid?"

"I was a warrior angel. Should I be afraid?"

"Was?"

"I'm now an angel gone rogue," she said.

Seth's lips formed a smile on their own. "Well, it looks like we match."

When Seth found Agnes, he was fascinated by her. He left the battle and went back to his mansion, taking Agnes with him. She was not a chatty person. She liked to stay quiet.

"Why choose this path?" he asked her.

"Why did you choose it?" she asked back.

"I asked you first."

"I'm not entitled to answer first."

Seth chuckled. "Well, it's because I hated the to be always kind and smile even when I did not feel like it. I wanted to do what I wanted. I did not want to live to protect others," he said. "Now, your turn."

"They told me show gratitude in every step. My parents wanted me to be a guardian angel. Gosh, I hate humans. Why do I have to protect them? The Base chose me to be a warrior angel. I hate fighting. I don't know why they chose it. Maybe because nothing else fit with me. Then, I became one of the top ten."

Looking at her body, it was amazing how she could be one of the top ten warrior angels at the academy. During Seth's time, Seth became first.

"What was your position?"

"First."

"It means you are good at it. Fighting, I mean." Seth said.

"I hate it. I'm no good at fighting. Angels are gentle, you know. I'm just aggressive. That's why I won," Agnes said. "I would start hitting right away and won't stop. Anyway, as I said, I despise it all. That's why here I am."

"Your parents must be disappointed," Seth said.

"Who cares? They can go- Anyway, I want you to show me all the books on demonic powers."

"I don't have them."

She rolled her eyes. "Seriously, Seth, you think lying to me is fun?"

"How do you know I have them?"

"You are ambitious, Seth. I know what ambition can do. There is no way you won't get the books," she said as if it was obvious.

Seth and Agnes spent years together. He trusted her. She was selfish, he had to give her that. However, she was still loyal to those she cared about. It looked like she did care about him. He met her when he was twenty. He decided to keep that age forever. Agnes was nineteen and she chose that.

Seth saw the mark on her wrist a long time ago. When he asked her about it, she did not hesitate saying she had a soulmate.

"Who?" he asked.

"His name is Jin."

"Your lover?"

"No. My friend."

"A friend is your soulmate? A man?"

"Think of it as you like," she shrugged.

Seth hated it. He wanted her for himself. Even so, all the 10 years they spent together, she never mentioned Jin or even said she wanted to meet him.

"Don't you miss him?" Seth asked one day.

"Who? Jin? Of course, I do."

"You don't even act like so."

"Do I have to cry, Seth? I have nothing to prove to you."

"Yes, you do!" he yelled. "I won't rot loving you when you have another man you love."

"You love me?" Agnes looked surprised. It made Seth angrier. Did she not realize what she was to him? After all the time they spent together, did she have any right to be surprised to hear him say he loved her?

"I fucking do and I know I shouldn't."

"Because I am bound to another man's soul?" she chuckled. She hugged him. "I like the way your heart beats for me."

"I want to kill you."

"No," she whispered. "You want to fuck me."

Seth pushed Agnes against the wall and pressed his lips to hers. He wrapped his fingers around her throat and pressed. She moaned into the kiss and pulled him to her tighter.

"You like to choke me," she smiled, her lips swollen and a blush creeping up on her cheeks.

"You like to be choked," he said and kissed her again.

He ripped her clothes and kissed her everywhere. His hands explored every curve of her body.

"Your Jin touched you like this?" Seth asked, his voice husky, as he rubbed between her thighs.

"No," she said with a moan.

Seth did not trust her. But when he pushed her down on his bed and explored every part of her body with his own, he thought maybe she was not lying. But how would he be sure? He was not experienced at all. In fact, she was the first woman he held in his arms.

It did not matter anyway whether she was lying or not. He would get rid of Jin soon.
