Chapter 35: Crowbar's Debut

Ten days ago, the Regulance Mountains.

The night arrived quietly, bringing a harsh cold. As the light disappeared and the mountains became dark, there was no moonlight.

As the cold wind howls, carrying snowflakes across the sky, the snow falls slowly, creating layers on the mountain.

On this mountain, an off-road vehicle has gotten stuck halfway up the mountain and is slowly being buried in the snow. A young man was wrapped in a padded jacket and struggled to stop the trembling as he worked on the engine.

It has been hours now, but he still couldn't get the car started. He kicked the front tire angrily and nearly slipped. He sat back in the car, annoyed.

"Still can't... start it? a girl sitting in the passenger seat asked. Her head was resting on the edge of the car window, but her pretty face was covered with frost; her lips were pale as she shivered in the cold.

"It's okay, the rescue team will come soon." The man comforted his girlfriend.

But his voice was getting farther and farther away from the girl's ears. The snow-capped mountains outside the car window in front of the girl and the heavy snow blurred around her.

Her eyelids became heavier with each passing moment. It felt like her body was plunging into the icy sea, inching towards the abyss.

In a trance, she seemed to hear her boyfriend calling her name.

"I'm just a little tired," she mumbled. "Just a little sleep."

"Stay strong! Help is on the way!"

The young man shook her desperately, trying to hold onto her fading warmth.

In the midst of the blizzard, a beam of light broke through, resembling a sharp sword slicing through the dark sky.

"Help is here!" The young man exclaimed. "Did you hear that, Yunyun? They are here; we are saved!"

She heard the boy's voice getting farther and farther away.

Are we saved?

She closed her eyes contentedly, and she fell into a long sleep with peace of mind.

The present.

Bright flames exploded from the gun's muzzle, and a claw extended from the grappling hook, firmly seizing the building's edge.

Right after that, as he neared the building's edge, he quickly pulled back the grappling hook and shot up into the air. His cloak transformed into a glider with a swoosh, giving him the appearance of a bat as he soared through the air.

This memory fabric created by Wayne Group is soft at first but can become rigid with an electric charge.

Now after dinner, Chu Cheng would go play the hero game every night. He patrols around the city dealing with crime along the way, slowly farming points.

He recently received a bat signal from the prize pool. The description said he could choose to light up the bat lamp in the sky in any part of the city he was in.

The bat signal will linger in the sky for three minutes and cannot be followed, creating the impression that it suddenly appeared.

It doesn't serve any real purpose, just a way to let all the gangsters know that Batman is around.

He prefers staying home and skipping classes to play games, as earning points and experience is his top priority. His body is fatigued from playing the game too often, leaving him feeling weak and fatigued.

Chu Cheng limited his gaming due to health concerns, so he mainly played at night to avoid drawing attention.

This is also one of the reasons why Chu Cheng loves to use Batman, even though he has other heroes.

He did try other heroes before, but Batman is just easier to use.

Either the character stands out too much, or they are too powerful and consume too much of his stamina.

He attempted to play as Captain America, but despite having greater strength than Batman, he tired out after half a night because Captain America used twice as much energy as Batman.

Among his heroes, the crowbar is the most energy efficient in terms of stamina. He used it throughout the night and still made it to class the next day.

He went out using the Crowbar that night and unexpectedly encountered a gang of street thugs. The leader, who was a robber, directed his group to rob a house.

When he went to stop them, he was mistaken for a fellow robber; they even suggested to rob the house across the street instead.

But looking at the image of the crowbar, he could understand why they would take him as a fellow robber. With his menacing face and the skull on his chest, no one would believe that he was a hero.

The robber leader saw Crowbar take out his weapon, took a closer look at it, and thought, "Isn't it just a Crowbar but slightly thicker?"

He never thought that a simple crowbar would be a technological weapon of destruction. When the crowbar was activated, it shot out a laser beam.

The beam vaporized a few of the robbers, while the explosion caused the others to fall down, leaving them with serious injuries.

After this incident, he never used the crowbar to fight again.

Not to mention the crowbar's poor stats; the crowbar hero is just a gangster with a laser rifle twisted into the shape of a crowbar, and when compared to Batman and the other heroes drawn by Chu Cheng, he is even worse.

He lacks super strength and advanced technology, and he can't sneak or fly, so his combat skills are weak.

While wandering around the city at night, suddenly a small exclamation mark popped up on the map.

Chu Cheng knew that it meant that Batman had discovered an anomaly in the nearby area. In other words, an event/mission marker.

He pressed the M key to open the map and followed the directions on the map to check.
