Chapter 38: Pharmacy Encounter

Chu Cheng soon realized that he had miscalculated.

He might have acquired Captain America's experience and skills, but he lacks the physical ability to fully utilize them.

Fortunately, he now has his game, which can improve his body.

Playing games is better for him than exercising; the only issue is that he gets tired easily.

This is not too big of an issue, as he has gradually discovered that his body is getting stronger with each gaming session, allowing him to extend his game time. Forming a positive cycle of gaming and getting stronger, which allows him to game longer.

He also found out that taking drugs and medications can assist in this situation.

He came across a helpful medicine in the pharmacy below that can aid those who are awake late at night; it restores energy fast, enabling him to keep playing games.

To help him sleep, he also takes a pill before bedtime, which enables him to wake up feeling refreshed and relaxed the next day. After waking up, he went to the pharmacy to get more of the medicines.

When he walked in, he noticed the pharmacy owner was in tears. He approached her and glanced at the computer screen, quickly realizing she had suffered a big loss in the stock market.

In his past, he dabbled in stock trading. He believes the stock market is full of ups and downs and should be approached cautiously.

He has suffered from the stock market, losing money and feeling stressed every day from the price changes. This stress has made him more resilient, but he promised to avoid stocks in the future.

The pharmacy owner, still feeling sad about her losses, quickly smiled when she saw him enter and asked, "Can I help you with something?"

"Yeah." Chu Cheng nodded. "Do you still have the medicine from last time? It seems to work quite well. I want to order three more boxes."

"You used it all already?"

The pharmacy owner felt a bit surprised. Even though her memory isn't great now that she's older, she vaguely recalls that it was only a few days ago when he came to buy medicine. Has he used it all up already? Did he eat it like candy?

She wanted to remind him: "Although this medicine is not painful in large doses and has no side effects, too many supplements are not good for the body."

Chu Cheng smiled. "It's okay. I know what my body can handle."

"Alright. You made it just in time; there are only a few left." Aunt Li said, "Stock is low this month as a young man purchased a large quantity two days ago. I need to check what's left."

Saying that, Aunt Li turned around and went in to look through her stock.

Chu Cheng leaned against the counter and waited. After a bit, a voice sounded at the door.

"Chu Cheng?"

He looked back and found that the person standing at the door of the pharmacy was his friend, Wei Futong.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but his skin looks much better now than when I saw him in the game yesterday.

Chu Cheng asked, "Are you here to buy medicine?"

Wei Futong looked nervous. "No, I just happened to pass by."

"Who just happens to pass by a pharmacy?" Chu Cheng thought.

Realizing his lie was caught, Wei Futong tried to explain, but Aunt Li came out with the medicine. "Oh, you're back! Too bad you came a bit late. This young man bought the last three boxes."

Chu Cheng and Wei Futong both fell silent.

Chu Cheng: "..."

Wei Futong: "..."

A few minutes later, they walked to school. Chu Cheng said, "I don't need all this medicine. Why don't you take two boxes?"

"No, I'm fine," Wei Futong said quickly, looking anxious as if the medicine was dangerous.

"Uh, okay, but you don't look very well." Chu Cheng glanced at his pale face and expressed concern for his brother. "Did you have a rough night?"

Wei Futong responded, "What? Nothing happened last night."

He shuddered in the middle of his speech and took back his statement.

Wei Futong hesitated, then said, "I was playing video games too late last night."

"Oh, is that so?" Chu Cheng knew he was lying but, as a good friend, didn't press.

Trying to change the subject, Wei Futong asked, "What's wrong with your legs?" He noticed that Chu Cheng was walking unnaturally.

"Oh, I was exercising at home last night and accidentally strained my muscle." Chu Cheng said.

Wei Futong doubted him. "Exercising at home could hurt you that much?"

Seeing Chu Cheng's limp and the medicine, Wei Futong realized something. He thought Chu Cheng was just like him.

Looking at his buddy's unnatural posture and at the bag of medicine in his hand, Wei Futong's pupils shrank, and he realized something.

Immediately afterwards, looking at Chu Cheng's limping appearance, he actually felt empathy.

Chu Cheng guessed what Wei Futong was thinking and got annoyed. "I'm the one who really plays video games, okay? Don't mix us up!"

"Ahem."

Maybe he also felt that this topic should be avoided, so Wei Futong changed the topic again.

Then a trace of vitality suddenly appeared on his pale face, and he said excitedly, "By the way, don't be surprised when you say it."

He approached Chu Cheng mysteriously and paused for a moment to create a mysterious atmosphere.

"...I met Batman yesterday!"

Chu Cheng: "..."
