Chapter 45: The Truth?

Felix was surprised to realize that the "female ghost" was actually a man wearing a wig and a woman's nightdress. The man had pale skin, and the wig had made him look like a ghost.

Felix quickly figured out that this wasn't a real ghost. According to the Secret Service Nine, many ghost-like events were actually caused by infected people.

He remembered that Xu Wenhan had been reported dead but might have just been close to death.

The infection could have brought him back to life, which made his body disappear and become something different.

Seeing Xu Wenhan now, Felix felt more at ease. He was experienced with dealing with infected people. Xu Wenhan, realizing his wig had fallen off, looked confused and then frightened when he saw Felix.

"You need to stop her," Xu Wenhan said weakly. "Yunyun... she's not herself anymore.

It's not her who came back, but something else. No one will believe me, but Dr. Li was already harmed. You have to stop her from hurting others."

Felix froze for a moment and quickly pieced together what he had learned.

Ten days ago, both Xu Wenhan and Guo Xiaoyun died in the snowstorm. Guo Xiaoyun was cremated, but Xu Wenhan's body disappeared.

Xu Wenhan had described seeing visions of Guo Xiaoyun as a ghost with a knife, and he also reported finding body parts in the fridge.

Felix said, "You mean Guo Xiaoyun is dead."

Xu Wenhan argued, "You don't believe me. She's been here, but she's not normal. She's become something evil."

Felix asked, "If she's here, why isn't she showing herself?"

Xu Wenhan didn't answer.

Felix continued, "Guo Xiaoyun was cremated last week. Deep down, you know she's dead, but you can't accept it. You imagine she's come back as something monstrous, but really, you're the one causing the problems."

In fact, Chu Cheng had roughly guessed what was going on here.

Chu Cheng started to piece things together. He remembered a similar story from an old movie and realized that Felix might be right.

As the boy sat with his head lowered, his face was hidden in shadow, making it hard to see.

Chu Cheng thought Felix was surprisingly reliable, though it might also be because he didn't expect much from his teammates.

Sector Nine's agents felt like Gotham Police Department to him so far. It's not completely incompetent, and independent handling of cases is not without highlight moments, but there is a gap compared with Batman.

Of course, the Gotham Police Department may have been spoiled by the boss leading the team all the year round.

As long as they team up with Batman, they will immediately have the mentality of "batman will solve this for us".

Seeing that the other party lowered his head and showed no response,

Felix, feeling confident in his deductions, spoke softly, "Losing someone is hard. But we must move forward. She wouldn't want you to be stuck in the past or make mistakes in her name."

The boy's body trembled, and he began to cry. "I'm sorry," he sobbed.

Felix reassured him, "It's okay. It's not your fault. We'll find someone to help you."

Felix felt relieved, knowing that the boy was beginning to regain his sanity and calm down. He also breathed a sigh of relief knowing that the boy had regained his sanity and his state had stabilized.

Felix knew from his Secret Service training that sometimes people infected with strange powers can lose touch with reality.

If someone helps them see the truth, they might regain their sanity. However, if an infected person's condition level of more than 50% they are hopeless, they are beyond saving and must be dealt with carefully.

If it exceeds 80%, the infected person has already died on the biological level.

And Xu Wenhan, as an infected person who "resurrected from the dead", the infection rate is likely to exceed 80%.

Of course, even so, the things to be done will not change.

He's dead now. The deceased must rest in the grave quietly, and even if he doesn't want to, the infected person can spread the infection to others.

Xu Wenhan closed his eyes, knelt down on the ground with his head down, and seemed to be saying "sorry" vaguely in his mouth, as if he had completely lost his intention to resist.

Just as he was thinking of this, Chu Cheng suddenly saw an attack warning sign on the side of the screen.

Chu Cheng's pupils shrank, and he clicked the right mouse button out of reflex .

He saw a figure in the dark swinging at him but managed to block the punch. However, he wasn't quick enough to avoid a powerful kick that sent him sliding across the floor.

A sinister, smiling face emerged from the shadows, making Felix realize that the situation was far from over.
