Chapter 158: Infinte Air time

Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen make an ideal pair. They both have spiders in their names, share the same abilities, and have similar life experiences.

Each has lost the other in their own parallel worlds. Put these two together, and it feels like meeting an old friend for the first time.

In fact, this holds true in the game. Chu Cheng had tested this, and teaming Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen indeed provided buffs.

When two spider heroes team up, they can execute unique combos not possible with other heroes. Additionally, their individual stats improve during solo battles, making it easier to achieve top performance in both strength and speed.

As we all know, greater power comes with greater risks and costs. It's not like in those comics where heroes face either golden opportunities or life-threatening challenges.

Spider-Man, who is currently the strongest hero under his command, has abilities that are on a different level compared to other heroes.

Managing two spider heroes at the same time with their enhanced abilities is manageable occasionally, but Chu Cheng worries that his own back might not handle it well over time.

Even he isn't sure what would happen if he really showcased this combination. After all, it's hard to find a target that can withstand two Spider-Men at once.

But today, he found one.

Gwen kicked Leng Ji into the air with a web-assisted kick. As Leng Ji was mid-air, he twisted around, trying to lock onto Gwen's position. Suddenly, a tentacle shot out.

Leng Ji had intended to use the tentacle to hit Gwen while she was airborne, but to her surprise, Gwen let go of the web and, in an almost defying physics move, jumped even higher. The tentacle missed as it pierced the empty air.

Leng Ji wondered:

"How did she doge in mid air?"

Before he could even think about the feasibility of this "left foot on the right foot" ladder cloud vertical anti-physics move, he was interrupted by shouts from the other side.

"Hey buddy, don't look around while flying!"

Spider-Man, who had swung by earlier, was now right in front of him. Leng Ji was startled and quickly tried to fight back with his tentacles, but Spider-Man just used his webbing to dodge in the air, then turned around and kicked him.

The kick was powerful, coming from below and almost dislocating his insides despite his body armor. The force of the kick lifted Leng Ji back into the air.

Immediately, Spider-Man shot a web to the top of the cave, pulled himself up, and chased Leng Ji through the air.

Leng Ji, hanging in the air with his back to the ground, couldn't clearly see Spider-Man behind him. But, being experienced, he instinctively sent out two more tentacles to attack behind him.

Spider-Man, anticipating this, dodged with a web swing and rolled to Leng Ji's side, delivering a solid kick to his face.

The kick caused Leng Ji's head to tilt and his body to spin through the air. His head was spinning, but he kept trying to attack the irritating shadow next to him.

However, when his tentacle struck again, it only hit a red and blue blur. Spider-Man had already flipped to the other side with his webbing and delivered an uppercut to the other cheek.

In an instant, the figure blurred, and with the help of spider silk, red and blue afterimages zipped around him in an almost impossible way, slamming into him repeatedly.

Leng Ji felt a force hitting him from all directions. Every time he thought he might land, someone would kick him back into the air. A flurry of fast, hard-hitting attacks came from all sides.

Leng Ji's mind raced, considering a possibility most people wouldn't even think about.

This guy won't... actually plan to keep him off the ground, will he?

With ultra-high-speed movement, smooth maneuvers, monster-level strength, and the ability to stay in the air almost like flying, the attacker was using continuous combo strikes to keep Leng Ji airborne.

Since he had nowhere to move while in the air, he was essentially a stationary target until he hit the ground.

This was known as the "floating infinite combo."

Normally, this would seem like a concept from a game, and even suggesting it in real life would sound absurd. To be honest, Leng Ji used to think the same way.

Until now.

Astonishing surprise filled his mind—

—How is this even possible!?

But it was happening. He was being hit from every direction, his body repeatedly sent back into the air. The red and blue figures flashed around him, making it feel like he was completely surrounded.

Bullshit, pure bullshit!

It feels like neither side can actually fly, but they're engaged in "air combat" anyway. If he hadn't experienced it himself, he wouldn't believe such an operation was even possible.

But Leng Ji's sharp vision and quick reactions were up to the task. After taking a series of hits, he noticed patterns in the opponent's movements and saw Spider-Man suddenly extend his webbing, cutting off Leng Ji's path.

Spider-Man, still moving at incredible speed, released his webbing and spun through the air like a bullet. The black tentacles almost hit the spider symbol on his chest but missed as he changed direction.

Leng Ji had anticipated this. He knew that an attack of this level wouldn't connect, but he aimed precisely as Spider-Man was about to land, forcing him to move and dodge. This missed opportunity allowed Spider-Man to land safely.

Leng Ji never imagined he'd miss solid ground so much.

Just when he thought he'd finally ended the floating nightmare, a kick from the side sent him back into the air, shattering his hopes.

Spider-Man was pushed back, but Gwen was still in play. She dodged in time for Spider-Man and capitalized on the moment.

As Leng Ji flew into the air again, he was furious.

"Why won't you guys quit?!"

Red, blue, and white streaks flashed around Leng Ji, hitting his armor so hard that he collapsed. His body flailed helplessly, unable to fight back.

While Leng Ji was being pummeled, his confidence—boosted by the ancient demon god's power—was shattered. For the first time, he started to doubt the demon god's promises.

Is this really what the boss described? Am I no longer human, or what's going on with this constant beating?

It wasn't just a regular thrashing but a complete beatdown.

The only thing that might save him was that he had enough backup.

Boom!

The top floor of the cave was blasted open from above, creating a huge hole. Debris fell, smoke billowed, and figures began jumping into the cave from above.

It was the remnants of Leng Ji that Batman had just left behind.

They all chased after them.
