We were progressing, and when we reached the empty area, barriers surrounded us. A ghoul appeared. Kenji started speaking quickly and fearfully.
"I'll break the wall. Run and save yourselves."
I looked at Kenji fearfully.
"We won't leave you here."
"Ghouls, they are creatures that can kill even S-level adventurers. You'll die. Run!"
I spoke sadly.
"N-no... I can't leave you, brother."
Kenji broke the wall. Arisu picked me up and started running towards the exit.
"S-sister, let me go! We can't leave brother behind."
"We must... Kurumi. You don't want to die, do you?"
"IF I MUST DIE, I WILL, BUT I WON'T LEAVE MY BROTHER BEHIND."
Even though Arisu swallowed her fear, she quickly composed herself.
"I'm sorry... Kurumi."
I started crying, and my voice became thin.
"Brotheeeeeer..."
Tears came from Arisu's eyes, but she tried not to show it.
Why? Why does it have to be this way? Why?
What was the reason? Why did we have to proceed this way? Why did you have to write the story like this? I'm calling out to you... Yes, you, the writer... Why? Why? I will kill you. I hate you.
Time stopped. Everything darkened. I was transported to a different place. When I opened my eyes, something was in front of me. It was blurry, so I couldn't make it out. I felt the need to attack. I created a sword in my hand. Supporting myself with magic, I started attacking. With great speed, I cut off the monster's arm. While the monster was writhing on the ground, I cast a spell.
"Fire of hatred that rules the earth and sky, find my target and burn it completely!"
This spell was an SSS-level spell. I think I'll become an A-level adventurer soon.
After casting the spell, the monster died. I fainted with the death of the monster.
I guess a few hours later, I woke up. Kenji, Arisu, and Mai were there, looking at me worriedly. Kenji spoke first.
"Are you okay, my bird?"
"I-I'm fine... What happened to me? Where am I? I don't remember anything."
