Rye knew the exact moment his gaze slid down her face to her chest, as he leaned closer until she could feel his breath on her neck.

Hot and steamy sending shivers down her spine as she felt him lean his muscles against her bosom.

“You want me! You can deny it but I can feel it through the bond we share,”

“Klas!” Rye gasped pushing against him with her eyes closed.

Her eyes snaped open, shocked to feel him pull away something she was convinced he would never do.

“FINE!” His deep voice echoing through the desolate mansion they stood in, after he sent all the servants off.

“I’ll give you five seconds to leave Rye. After that, if you’re still here, I’ll make you regret ever pushing me away.”

“One…”

“Wha-what?”

“Two…”

Rye knew she should leave. Sleeping with Klas was something she had sworn never to do. They were just using each other. She needed his blood, and he needed her to remove the chains that bound his powers.

Yet, the pleasure that thrummed through her body when he had kissed her was unforgettable.

“Four…”

In a panic, Rye finally found the strength to move but by then it was already too late and she saw it in his eyes just as she moved to walk past him.

A cruel glint that made her wish she left when she had the chance to.

“Five…”

The plan was for the both of them to work together and get what they wanted.

Him-the throne.

Her- the blue stone that would send her back to the human world.

Rye had no idea when the plan changed and less how to adjust to it.

I must kill the man I love.

The next day passed even quicker than Rye would have hoped for, and the day of the initiation soon arrived.

Dressed in their usual white robes, which had been washed and in a pristine condition, all the apprentices waited in front of the temple preparing to enter the carriages assigned to them.

But ten minutes later they were still waiting  for Lady Farona who was surprisingly late which was unlike her.

"I can't wait to see your bond though. I feel it's unfair since you've seen mine," Rye spoke to Holi while they waited.

"Your bond is the most good-looking man I've ever seen. My bond is just normal,"

"That's not what I'm talking about. I just think it'll be nice to get to know someone you'll be interacting often with,"

"It doesn't matter. I still intend to change him if the opportunity arises," Holi replied, which surprised Rye since she saw no reason why apprentices like them would want to severe their bond.
