Chapter 25: Secret Hideout

Chapter 25: Secret Hideout

It had been a short amount of time since they reached the mountain and they were already urged to move again.

Their departure had progressed after Barnabas met up with them with a troop of dark puppet soldiers claiming that was his ability.

He used those puppets to carry a lot of load from the trucks. Who knew why he did not allow his crew to do that, but they seemed comfortable with it.

Eri took his eyes off the dark coloured Puppet and to Carl and Elsa, they were all alerted by the simplest movements in the soldiers.

Eri was an exception, he only neared the youngest of them who looked in his early twenties.

"Hey my name is Eri?" Eri first began with a polite gesture, surely this was to get the reaction of the soldier first.

"Hi, I'm Colby, nice to meet you Eri," the young man was also nice and looked of no harm.

[Eye of Truth has been Activated]

[Colby is interested in you]

'That is quite good to know, this skill is useful.'

Eri thought through his line of questions and found the most worthy to be asked, "where are we going? Is this the way to Rika whatsoever?"

Colby shook his head and heaved a sigh, "not really but we have a strong fort, let's say a remote area we could call our own safezone."

[He speaks the truth, but Colby is worried]

'Worried? What the heck is he hiding from me?'

Eri simply needed to dig deeper, "have you ever been to Rika safezone? I'm not sure how to put this."

Colby took his time before replying, "just once, but Barnabas prohibited it, he said we best build our own safezone out here."

'Eye of truth dig deeper.'

[Processing]

[Eye of truth has seen through Colby's mind]

[Warning: The route user passes through is dangerous and filled with mutants, most importantly there is a secret group in this forest. Colby recalls when all survivals rescued died and he ran seeing a glimpse of a man in a dark cloak glower at them.]

'Uhm, so Colby is scared of this figure.' Eri placed his hand on his chin, 'The world's changed past my own imagination, I cannot think of such a group.'

It could be a group of humans or mutants, but mutants like those he fought during the oil station? If it were possible why did they not kill the soldiers?

Eri was sure, the enemies here were humans.

"So Eri what power did you get from the world's end?" Colby was quite persistent with the way he asked his question.

Eri rolled his eyes and shrug, Why do everyone try to predict his strength and ability? Literally he was not a people person and would hate to reply this, however just for this situation...

"Enhanced body," Basically a lie he formulated.

'Come to think of it, it's been ages since I checked out my stats.' Eri wanted to order the system to reveal his status but stopped in accordance to the red notification that appeared.

[You are yet to have a fill on blood, your body will soon take over]

'Another problem I can't seem to avert, I need privacy though, and I'm almost out of blood,' Eri thought of how life would be in the safe zone if he got no blood in time.

The thought of Becoming a monster and killing people for blood sent shivers up his spine, he needed a solution fast.

[Bing]

[Bloodlust: 89%]

In a rash moment Eri's instinct kicked in as he grabbed Colby by the collar with and extremely powerful force pulling him out of the way in time.

At the same time a dark almost invisible shuriken made a diagonal movement past his hind head missing him by a foot.

Eri's instinct did not stop there as he swiftly pulled his bag and extracted his knife. Using his vampiric speed he charged to meet his friends.

*WHOOOSH*

Eri got to them in time narrowing his eyes until he caught the approach of four more shuriken.

He could see them coming slowly at them and was able to block every single one with his knife.

"We are being attacked?!" Eri screamed out to everyone alerting them and as he looked around to see those that replied his beckoning, all he saw were bodies of the soldier and puppets on the ground.

The bodies were pierced by a weapon of two and lying unmoving on the floor.

Everyone was dead but them.

'What kind of enemy did we encounter? Everyone in a matter of seconds died, this is not a mutant, but a...'

Eri's eyes finally met with the red sinister glares of a being standing on the tree in a weird ninja outfit.

"A human."
