Putting on my mask, hood up, and letting out a kagune, I spiked at a squad of soldierboys consisting of as many as 20 men! The kids were unlucky enough to walk into this courtyard, where their lives were about to end.

The first four, were killed by the remaining uninvolved kagune as they fell. The rest of the squad only had time to turn around before I had already landed, killing eight more. By the time I had freed my tentacles from the corpses, the remaining eight had already rushed to escape, but a wall of fire I'd scaled got in their way, and the survivors were no more.

And for the next 30 minutes, I did all sorts of boring stuff. You know, hanging intestines on a tree, tearing off limbs, that sort of thing.

But as I finished the scene for tomorrow's audience, I thought about the implications of the Night Raid. I might get nagged for "they were innocent, how could you?". After all, the ogre was our target, and the method of reprisal was still somewhat unimportant. And here was a simple squad of guards.

However, I quickly found a way out of the situation. I snatched three girls from the nearest pile of corpses in the gutter, which were here in the alleys quite often, and dragging them to my last place of action, began to tear their maiden places in disgust. Once again the kagune proves to be such a useful thing. It's like an extension of my body, which I control, but I don't feel disgusted to death at such a horrible thing.

Promising myself that I wouldn't do it again, I left the naked and dirty girls in one corner of the courtyard, making a pretty clear picture.

A squad of guards decided to have some fun with the girls without considering their opinions, after which they killed them. Well next came the Tokyo kuroken, which tore the guards to shreds.

When I was done, I went back to the hotel, where I took a bath.

***

- You're in a very good mood, I see! - Mein remarked, re-eating her strawberries.

It had been a lovely morning. However, the massacre of yesterday had also contributed to it.

- It was nothing... - I dismissed it, taking another sip of coffee. - I came across a group of rapist guards last night.

Maine choked at the ease with which I said it.

- Wh-what? - she asked with difficulty.

- In one of the courtyards, a squad of guards was raping three girls. Unfortunately, they were already dead, but I decided to send the guards to the other world as well, for their deed.

Mein immediately became sad.

- Yes... It's not uncommon in the capital... You did well. - She said, eating strawberries again with a sad face.

Hmm... my scene will probably be discovered soon enough, so.....

  - A wild female squeal sounded not far from us.

Mein jumped up sharply, clearly about to run at the scream, but I stopped her by grabbing her wrist.

- They've found the rapists. - I said phlegmatically, eyeing the half-filled cup of coffee.

***

The coffee cup was professionally swiped by me, as Myne, despite my warnings about her strawberry coming back out, was eager to look at the corpses, and I wanted to finish my coffee.

- BOEEEE!!! - came a multitude of such sounds from outside. Mein was one of the sources.

And in the daylight, things were looking really creepy. Even half of the men had started spilling back the breakfast they had already taken. And there were no women left in the crowd at all. And everyone was whispering about Tokyo kuroken.

- Let's go. - I put my arm around Maine, taking her in my arms.

By the way, judging by the emophone, the girl to me did not have a drop of disgust or anger, which testified to the success of my work on her processing. Although on the other hand... because to such creatures, as I imagined these guards Main, she should not have pity, and at most, she would say: "Why did you hurt them so badly?".

Main a little coming to her senses, realised what position she was in, and then sharply twisted out of my hands, standing on her feet, and then blushing terribly said:

- Thank you.

***

Me and Myne were already outside our inn when we were almost run over by a girl with brown hair and armour. A black and white dog was running briskly beside her. Stop!!! Isn't that the girl who killed Shelly in canon?

- I'm sorry! - she exclaimed. - Can you tell me where two dozen soldiers were killed here?

After explaining the route to Seru, she seemed to thank us, and then rushed to "Defence of Justice!".

Mein didn't react to that, so we immediately continued our route. When I got to the girl's room, I grimaced at the mess that was going on.

- Don't mind me. - Maine waved her hand. - So, I got a letter from the boss. Our target is a blood relative of the Prime Minister, a man called Ivokaru. In the name of the prime minister, he kidnaps girls and beats them to death. Five of his guards are also involved. This is a very important mission. - Mein finished seriously.

- 'Mm-hmm...' I scratched my chin. - What's the plan?

- I'll take him off Pumpkin when he leaves his estate, and you'll cover me in case of a confrontation with the enemy.

- Or maybe-" I smiled. - I'd rather let him be killed by a Tokyo kuroken?

Mein opened her mouth in surprise and was about to object, but after some thought, she answered:

- Although it would be against the plan... but I guess so. We're getting too much attention as it is. We'll be covered by the rest of the team as well... but I'll be able to inform them of the change of plan. By the way, what's a Tokyo kuroken? It's the first time I've heard such words. - Mein asked.

- Tokyo is... the village I grew up in. And kuroken - is the original name of me among the villagers of this very village, in the days when I terrorised them. And then I learnt about the Ghouls. And my name in the surrounding villages that knew about me changed from "Tokyo kuroken" to "Tokyo Ghoul". Even then, I had already gained a similar reputation to today as a horrible monster. - I finished with a slightly revealing wry smile.

***

After I finished making my plan, I headed outside to see what happened to those guards' corpses. Halfway there, however, I was bumped into again. And it was Seru again.

- Oh! You again! Forgive me again, please. - The girl said with a smile, rubbing her shoulder.

The thought of Seriu's future usefulness as an informant crossed my mind. After all, I have plans to establish close relations with Esdes, and I already have a rough plan.

So, it will be possible to find out more about the general before the tournament, and therefore to adjust my plan. And for the Night Raid it will be possible to get useful information about Imperial plans.

Instantly making a decision, I smiled back.

- I'm Kaneki! And what's your name?

- Seriu Yubikitas! And this is my teigu Koro. - She waved her hand at the dog. The dog barked in affirmation.

- You're in the army, I take it?

- Aha! I fight evil in the name of justice! - Serue exclaimed cheerfully, then squinted suspiciously. - And you haven't done anything evil by any chance?

A few slaughtered villages in Fiore and all those guards flashed before my eyes, and then I answered:

- No, I haven't. Funny dog. - I waved my hand in Koro's direction.

***

We talked with Sera until the evening. During that time, I'd bonded with her while learning about the evil that lurked in the darkness of the alleys. She complained that she couldn't find the Tokyo kuroken, which she wished she could because he had killed her mentor Ogre. In the evening, however, I remembered today's business, and promising to meet again, I left for the hotel.

At the entrance of the building, a disgruntled Mein was waiting for me, which surprised me a little. It seemed to be about half an hour before our appointment time....

- Why are you sad? - I asked cheerfully.

- The owner of the hotel pushed me out. - snorted Maine, picking up her suitcase with a rifle.

We decided to leave early, and immediately set off for the target's estate. Myne hunkered down on a small hill, not far from the entrance, while I, donning my mask and hood, headed even closer.

It was already dark, which allowed me to get very, very close to the target's escort team. The target was already close to his manor, so I couldn't delay, otherwise I'd have to wait for a couple of hours for the fat man to come out again.

And so my kagune broke free abruptly. I instantly gave the command to transform into thin blades, which allowed me to kill 15 people at once with just eight tentacles!

In general, this fatty's guards were in two circles. In the first were the usual guards, who were not difficult to disperse. Then there was a circle consisting partly of ordinary slave girls, as well as the same five bodyguards.

I was originally aiming at them, but I managed to take only three of them. Also, at the same time, half of the regular guards were killed in the first strike.

However, the bodyguards are good... Since the tentacles were "blocked", I just had to cover myself with the bodies of the guards that were hovering on the kagune. However, the second bodyguard swung over them. And even managed to hit me with several throwing knives with magical sharpness on each.

I was only inconvenienced by the iron, but the bodyguard obviously thought I was dead, as one of the knives went straight into an open eye. And for her misdemeanour she was killed with a clear stab to Blutege's heart. The second meanwhile attempted to go round from the back, however... when I turned towards her....

It must have been a truly terrifying sight... a creepy mask, terrifying tentacles consisting of blood for her, so also a knife in her eye, causing me no discomfort at all.

A couple of blades had already been freed from the corpses, and so headed after the fleeing target and the guards. The target was finished, as well as half of the fleeing guards.

Meanwhile, I finished off the remaining bodyguard. Not to be trifled with, I tore the interfering corpses apart, chasing after the remaining guards. A moment later, it was all over.

After a moment's thought, I tore apart the bodies of the bodyguards, before noticing a shocked Main standing in the nearby bushes, staring at the knife in her eye.

- Kaneki..." she whispered, tearing towards me.

I undid the clasp on my mask, allowing my normal voice to go, and pulled the knife out of my eye, which instantly began to regenerate right before my eyes.

- I can't be killed by some knife in the eye. - I reassured Myne, who came closer. - unless you rip out my heart, or cut off my head....

- Kaneki... I was so scared... I thought there would be one less psycho on the team. - said the girl, hugging me in relief. True, she only reached my shoulders... but still.

- Mein, I have two more knives in me, so please let me take them out. - I asked, frowning at the slight pain. Still breaking through my resistance...yep, apparently something needed piercing.

Main, from my remark, bounced like a stung, traitorously blushing and frantically began to pull the knife out of the base of the neck.

- Don't, I'll do it myself. - I waved her away, pulling out the iron with a sharp movement, and then I started to pull out the second one in her shoulder.

The eye, meanwhile, was fully healed, allowing me to switch off the kakugan. I took off my mask, monitoring my surroundings for observers. There were none in the area.

- It's... Already healed..." Myne said shocked, pointing at my eye

- Yes, I also have a very fast regeneration. But hunger comes much faster... - I was embarrassed, nodding expressively at the corpses.

Mein quickly realised this, turning away hastily. But she didn't seem to be going away.

- Will you stay? - I asked with interest.

- Well... if you don't stay long... - the girl mumbled.

I released the kagune again, still tearing the target's body into two torn pieces. There were no whole bodies left... But deciding to feed on one of the bodyguards, I still found her half, which I began to eat.

After finishing my meal, Mein and I went to the rest of the group, which in this mission, was on hand in case of complications.

- Yo! - waved Myne's hand, entering the clearing where the guys were. - mission accomplished!

- Hi there! - Leone smiled and waved back at us.

The others only waved back, remaining silent.

- Any difficulties? - Akame, who was eating some kind of animal meat again, asked with concentration.

- No, Kaneki did a great job. - Main replied cheerfully. - I didn't even have to help.

- In that case, let's leave. - Akame concluded, while giving me a strange look.

***

Najenda had a big blowout. She calmed down pretty quickly when we all voiced our outrage, but it was still unpleasant....

A couple of days later I decided to go to the capital, to continue contact with Seru. So, under the pretext of helping Leona to buy provisions, I managed to get permission to leave. However... to my surprise, Akame wanted to go along with us.

Leone and I had no objections, and our battle cook (I won't forget that frying pan!) travelled with us.

But on our arrival we had some news that worried the girls. I, on the other hand, was indifferent to it.

- It's not enough that we have Tokyo kuroken, but we also have Zank the thug... - I heard the conversation of the men sitting next to me. Looking at the girls sitting across from me, eating fried meat, I took a sip of coffee and started the conversation:

- What do you think?

Hooded Akame looked at me and replied:

- Zank is killing ordinary people. So when we get back, we should gather a group and eliminate him.

- Hmm... There's no need for that. - I answered thoughtfully.

- М? - The girls looked at me questioningly.

- Tonight... - I smirked. - Tokyo kuroken will be out hunting.

***

- Are you sure? - Akame asked doubtfully. - Are you sure you don't need help?

- Trust me, it won't. And it's going to look creepy. - I waved my hand as I put on the mask.

- It doesn't matter. It's more important to me that you survive. - replied the girl phlegmatically.

- Don't worry about it! Everything will be fine! In case of emergency I'll be able to escape. - I smiled, zipping up my mouth, thus changing my voice.

- Good luck! - I heard Leone's cheerful voice in my wake.

Akame gave my changing hair a strange look, and then I threw on my hood and jumped out the window of the hotel room. By the way the room had to be booked by me, after which Leone and I headed there under the guise of a couple, before dragging Akame in through the window.

Having habitually unravelled the kagune with illusionary charms, I released my mental wave across the city, tracking the sources of the bloodlust that is almost always present in such thugs.

After a couple of minutes, the search was successful. There was such a source about a kilometre away from me, and several sources of fear and pain nearby. Instantly, I sprinted towards it, smiling bloodthirstily.

What do I know about this Zank from canon? He can read minds, which makes it a big blow to me, due to the very severe weakening of my mental shields. Even though I have them, I don't think they'd be enough for one of the Great Teigu. Also, it seems to be able to examine the enemy for concealed weapons. I don't know if that works on spatial teigu, i.e. my sword... But no matter, I think I can defeat him with a single kagune. Oh yeah, he can cast an illusion of the most important person to the opponent... but knowing that... I won't have any trouble with it.

***

I hovered over Zank in the alley, eyeing my opponent.

Extendable blades. Not likely to cut through a kagune. So you're fucked, Zank. And stop pretending you don't read me.

- You're the famous Tokyo kuroken, aren't you? - In a mad voice, he shrieked, raising his head in my direction.

I instantly formed a wave of fire at the street exit, which I directed at Zank, driving him deeper into the alley.

- Ha-ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!! This is going to be fun!!! - He laughed madly, jumping back deeper into the alley.

I jumped down from the roof, diving at the maniac, sending 3 of my blades at him in parallel. He dodged 2, but I sent them in such a way that at least one was impossible to dodge.

Blood trickled out of the deep cut on Zank's right arm, and the next thing I knew, I saw Akame standing in front of me. Unwittingly thinking about why Akame was the most important person to me, I sent four more blades at Zank.

He dodged three of them again, but then his back hit the wall and the fourth one reached its target, which was Zank's heart.

When I approached the maniac, I removed the artificial eye from his forehead, which shone with a complex of mental charms. It wouldn't be good for me, though. It would conflict with empathy, so I'd have to hide it in some hideout... I couldn't give it to the revolutionary army, could I? It's the rest of my team that is terribly naive in this regard, however I...

After my thoughts, I dragged Zank's carcass to an empty street, where I began to methodically tear off one piece at a time...

***

- Good morning! - I waved with a smile at the hooded Akame and Leona walking towards me.

I was, as usual, sitting at the tables outside, the very café across from the hotel where our team is always settling in. And every time, this is where we go to eat. Just now, Akame and Leone came to eat, and caught me drinking coffee.

At night, I decided not to return to the hotel, so I did the "Tokyo kuroken atrocities". Namely, I beat up some local thugs who tried to attack me in the middle of the night.

- Oh, hi!" Leone waved at me. Akame, however, had the complete opposite attitude.

"YUCK."

I grimaced as I rubbed the back of my head, which had received a blow from Akame's gentle hand.

- I was worried. - she said coldly. - And you didn't even deign to come back!

- I had things to do. - I replied, taking a sip of coffee. - I had to teach a couple of thugs a lesson for attacking me.

- And still, you..." Akame started again, but Leone interrupted her:

- Let's eat quickly, let's get you to the shelter. The guards are running around like crazy, so the risk of you being spotted is increased.

Akame looked at Leone unhappily, but did not object, accepting the tray of meat from the metamorph's hands.

- What are people saying? - I wondered.

"THOUGHTS."

I was slammed against the table once more, which was particularly painful.

- It was leaked that the Prime Minister had summoned General Esdes because of the Tokyo kuroken and the night raid," Leone grimly explained Akame's punch. - Although the main reason is because of your actions.

- Because of a few assassinations, is it customary here to summon the strongest warriors? - I raised an eyebrow sceptically, inwardly exulting with happiness.

- If you look at it from the Emperor's point of view, your killings have caused a lot of harm. People have become afraid, and discontent with the government has grown even more. And yet, we did our part. - the Metamorph waved her hands.

- So that's how... I'll stay in the capital for a few days, maybe a week, and then I'll come back with some fresh news, okay? - I asked. - I just need to talk to someone, and finding him might take a few days. - I added.

The girls thought about my request, and then answered positively. They had forgotten about Najenda's upcoming reprimand... We acted unauthorised, for which a woman likes to yell....

***

As I saw the girls off, I grinned inwardly, heading off to find Seria, who I'd forgotten about all these days.

A few minutes later, I found the girl thanks to the mental link I had made. The imp was walking sadly down the street, and next to her was a similarly downcast Koro.

- Why are you sad? - I asked cheerfully, clapping Seria on the shoulder from behind.

The girl turned around, and immediately became cheerful and waved her hands in a friendly manner.

- Hi Kaneki! - General Esdes herself is coming to the capital, in case you didn't know! And we've been told that she'll be assembling her own troop! And... I hope to be chosen. That will make my infliction of justice much easier!

Yep... still a girl with a bit of a twist on the subject....

- So it's true? For the Tokyo kuroken, General Esdes herself is going to take on the Tokyo kuroken? - I acted surprised.

- Yeah... - Seriu nodded. - By the way, there were two attacks today. The usual thugs who nobody really cared about, and then Zank the thug himself. I have to admit, though justice demands the death of a kuroken, he's served it a bit himself.

WHAT? My cerebral meanderings began nervously kicking in epilepsy, trying to comprehend that last sentence.

- Ahhh... Yeah. Shall we go for a walk? Or are you busy?

- Come on! Shall we go to your favourite coffee shop? They had a pretty good steak there!
