Chapter 13

Guys, Lots of shelling of my city, You can google Kharkiv.

(In general new horrible tactics, first they make a volley of rockets to destroy houses, and then wait and launch rockets in the same place to kill more rescuers, firemen. So it's pretty hot here, explosions all day long.)

Here's a video. This is the village where I was born and lived until I was 3 years old, and then came to visit almost every summer (my grandmother lived there). In general, there is not much left of it, as it is 6 km away from the country that attacked us.

Whew... I've been flying the Impulse for almost 3 hours now, and the reserve is already showing half. At a quick glance, I've travelled about half the distance, and upon arrival, I still have to track down that maniac....

However... I was saved from not happy thoughts by a familiar flying stingray. Or rather, saved by the fact that I had spotted it. In the distance, behind my back, he was trying to catch up with me, which turned out... frankly badly. I wondered who was following me.

I dispelled my curiosity by dispelling the Impulse, and after a somersault in the air, I started in the opposite direction. A dozen seconds later, I landed on the slope, which made a displeased rumble. Apparently, the flame in front of his muzzle, he did not like it very much.

As I looked round at the riders, I grinned cheerfully.

- What are you doing here? - I asked Chelsea and Mein sitting next to me.

- The boss gave a joint order, so that ... we got to know each other better. - Maine almost growled, glaring at Chelsea angrily. Oh, yeah... she's kinda messing with our sniper, so it's not really working out.

- And she ordered me to chase you down. - Chelsea added, blatantly ignoring Maine's stare.

- Why? - I raised an eyebrow. Well, it's pretty obvious...

- Because you've been made our commander. - shrugged her shoulders, clearly not going to dispute it.

- So... What's the order, then?

- A drug lord. One of the largest in the Capital, but for a long time, we could not find out anything about him. - sighed Mein. - Recently, however, information has come to light. It's heavily guarded, so Chelsea and I can't get close. But if you could distract them....

- Okay." I nodded. "Okay, I'm fine with that.

- Yeah, a flatboat like Mein wouldn't distract them. - Chelsea giggled.

- WHAT DID YOU SAY? - Mein reacted instantly.

Yeah, this is going to be a very long flight.....

***

I frowned at the two beds in the room. One double and one single. There were no other rooms available in our hotel, so....

Except there was another problem.

- He's sleeping with me! - came from Maine's side.

- Fi, with a board like that, you're not going to get anywhere, so you might want to stand back. - Chelsea pointed her finger at Maine's chest.

The latter, by the way, was just pretending to have a reason to piss off mein. I knew it, and she knew it. But she didn't let the pressure get the better of her.

- Go to hell, you wet cat! - Maine was furious again. Yes, Myne had thrown water on Chelsea when she was about to prank the sniper while in her cat form.

Sighing, I silently jumped out the window. Even after a dozen seconds, I could hear the girls bickering. Humming, I looked up at the full moon, and putting on my hood, I walked leisurely through the streets, trying to find any emotion of fear and pain from possible new victims of the maniac.

And... I succeeded! A kilometre away, there were a couple of such emophones, to which I rushed.

***

I glumly examined the torn bodies of the two girls. They were on the roof, which meant they'd been dragged up here somehow.

- So it was you?" a man's voice came from behind me. I flinched, realising that... empathy wasn't working. I felt absolutely no emotions, and I hadn't even noticed the time they'd disappeared.

Abruptly jumping away from my possible opponent, I was even more shocked when I saw him. A black-haired guy, with a black jacket unbuttoned over his naked body. Tucked up to his knees, black trousers and... a kagune with a kakugan.

The latter, I was particularly shocked by. Completely black eyes, with scarlet irises, you don't see very often. And four dark red tentacles extending from the base of its back. The only thing that confused me was the closed mouth at the end of each tentacle.

- Who are you?" I asked coldly, switching to magical vision.

And I was shocked even more! The reserve of a weak god-chosen one, that's no big deal! The same Esdes has only a weak S rank. I naturally have a lot more than this guy, but still.....

- Me?" the unknown man grinned. - Ghoul, like you. Though not the one who ate nine demons of Tartaros. - the guy completely dumbfounded me. Seeing my totally fucked-up face, he continued. - Yeah, yeah, I know who you are, Waldemar Blutege.

- Blutege? - I asked him again. I guess that's my sword, but not my last name.

- Don't you remember? - was also surprised by the unknown Ghoul. - Strange, I thought the mistress said you were him. Or part of him? - The boy raised his eyes to the sky thoughtfully. - It doesn't matter. If you don't remember one of the two, your old self is your problem.

- Who are you? - I asked again.

- My name is Krauser. Krauser Hippus. Did you really think you were the only one who got the attention of Mistress? - Ghoul raised an eyebrow.

- Mistress? - I questioned, uncomprehendingly, keeping my guard up.

- You don't know who she is? - Krauser asked, already very surprised. - Of course you do, you retard. Not for nothing, she ordered your elimination.

In the next instant, a ball of... Darkness magic flew at me! Damn, once again I regret losing my ability to use it....

After easily dodging it, I realised it was time to get serious. All 8 blades of the kagune were released, but I didn't shine the light on Blutega. It would be an unexpected surprise, should anything happen.

- Oh yes, in order to swat you, Mistress has given our fight a little justice. Your regeneration with healing magic just won't work. - Krauser smirked, sending another ball at me.

What, is he serious? That, some "mistress" there, deprived me of some of the strength? It's worth checking, though.

But when the simplest spell from the section of treatment, diagnostics of the body simply did not work, all my scepticism disappeared in a flash.

A spell seal appeared under my feet, and I had to hurriedly dodge the pillar of Darkness that appeared from this seal. At the same time, I managed to send a wave of Hellfire at my opponent. And now he had to dodge it. Hmm, the speed is not too far behind mine....

- Not bad..." Krauser said with a snicker.

And the next second, we were closing in. I have to admit that four jaws clacking viciously in your direction looks pretty creepy... to the average person. I, on the other hand, am almost used to this nastiness.

Its tentacles attempted to bite off chunks of all my limbs, but were repelled by my kagune. With the four blades left free, I stabbed at its torso. He dodged and tried to take another bite or two out of me, creating a few of those familiar shadow arrows in the air, which were instantly embedded in my kagune. I grimaced in pain, but that didn't stop me from wrapping my kagune around his tentacles, keeping them free. By this time, we were close enough to engage in hand-to-hand combat.

In his hands, two shadow blades appeared, which he instantly tried to thrust at me. However, I swung the Hellfire from both of them, in parallel, trying to burn my opponent with it. However, he closed with a powerful shadow shield, cutting off 2 of my tentacles in parallel.

I roared in pain, instantly pulling the 2 remaining intact Kagune away from him. Those began to regenerate instantly, and after a couple of seconds, were back to their original form.

Damn, so much for a simple maniac. Who can beat me.

- You're good..." Krauser grinned. - "Although, for five worlds, you're a little weak.

- Five worlds? What are you talking about? - I said with maximum coldness, while creating a huge fire trap on the entire surface of the roof, in which I had to pour almost a quarter of the reserve. However, THAT will definitely kill him.

- Oh yeah..." Krauser grinned. - You don't remember half of yourself at all. That's a shame. You know, poor Akemi is still waiting for her flawless one. - pouting his lips, that bastard said.

- I don't know what you're babbling about, but you're obviously out of your mind. - I snorted.

The next moment, we were back in the melee. Only, I did it differently. By making it look like I was going to intercept his jaws with my kagune again, I made him change the trajectory of those jaws. As a result, 2 of them ended up in my fists, after which they were instantly blown away by my blades. From Krauser's side, there was a painful scream, and his remaining 2 jaws, about to bite off pieces of my legs, slammed into the stone in front of me, missing their target. And in the next instant, were also severed by my blades.

From Krauser, there was an even greater scream, and I grinned lustfully and leapt towards him, setting him on my blades.

And then, my trap went off. All around, flames flooded the area, and from Kreiser's side, I heard an even more painful scream. However... here, my stomach exploded with pain, and I screamed as well, collapsing to my knees. Oh, how painful this is turning out to be....

A few seconds later, the flames disappeared, revealing to me the roasted body of the Cruiser. The slightly recovered jaws, lay listlessly on the stone of the roof, in the shape of a star. However, even in this state, this brute was still alive!

- 'Ahem... ahem...' the Ghoul coughed with difficulty. - Beast... how did you... defeat me? After all... the mistress gave me so much strength.....

- Phew... - I exhaled, also writhing in pain. After a glimpse of the wound, I realised that I wouldn't last long without help. The hole was pretty big. - What are you doing to me?

- The Spear of Darkness," Krauser said with difficulty. The next thing I knew, I was falling into the Darkness, and my stomach was regenerating at breakneck speed.

***

I woke up... or no, I started to wake up, to a few vaguely familiar voices. I was about to open my eyes when suddenly--

- You saw him kill Dr Stileish! Did you hear what he said?! He is the smoking man! - came Seriu's voice, about a step away from me.

Whoops... Was that incomprehensible feeling of being followed... was it because of Stileish? Oh, yikes...

- Seriu... Get away from Kaneki. - Esdes' voice was heard.

- He killed Ogre-san... then he killed Stileish-san... Now it's his turn to die! - Seriu shouted angrily, and there was a clicking sound above my ear, more appropriate for a firearm.

Oops... and the kagune, I never got it back in. And now it was, mimicking my dead opponent, lying on the ground in the shape of a star.

I snapped my eyes open sharply to see the muzzle of a cannon right in front of me. A moment later, it was sliced into four pieces by my kagune, and I jumped back to the other end of the roof.

Bad, bad, very bad! All plans are going to hell! And there's a full complement of Huntsmen here!

- Kaneki! - Esdes exclaimed.

Seriu, however, did not share her joy, and with a grimace on her face, came at me with another cannon. Meanwhile, a huge overpowered mutant, vaguely resembling Koro, was coming at me from the right.

- Esdes, hold her down or I'll have to spill someone's blood! - I said rather loudly.

A wall of ice instantly grew in Seru's path, separating me from the rambunctious maiden. But... Koro was more annoying, swooping in from the right... and after a moment, crumbled into ashes. Namely, because I pierced with my kagune his "core", responsible for... everything! I remember in that book on the Teigu, it said that if you break that core, the Teigu will be destroyed.

- I warned you. - I sighed, but I was in no hurry to remove the kagune. I don't know what the hell they'll think. - I had to admit that I was being frivolous. May I ask how you knew who I was?

- Stileish had some kind of thing that gave us a picture from his eyes. - Wade said angrily.

- Koro-" I heard Seriu's confused voice behind the wall.

- Well, it's true what they say, love is one step from love to hate. - I grinned, casting a small glance at Esdes, retreating to the edge of the roof.

And then... I saw a stingray flying towards us. On which Maine was standing with her rifle. Aiming Maine.

- Stand down! - I shouted, but it was too late. The energy charge was already flying towards... Esdes. Yeah, I guess Mein has absolutely no brains.

After all, someone like Esdes, from such a shot, easily dodge or close. But if she had shot Wade... or Seria... I would have rushed to defend Balls and Kurome, since I have no complaints about them (Kurome does, but for Akame's sake... so be it, I won't make them), and Mein is my subordinate. Well, that's a good excuse. I still want to continue my relationship with Esdes, and defending her subordinates will give me a couple of points.

The charge is coming, and I'm in the way. Damn... that hurts. The unfortunate stomach, once again pierced through, even though the charge had dissipated.

Behind me, a few gasps sounded, and without turning to face the Huntsmen, I watched the flying Main.

- Kaneki!!! - Mein shouted fearfully, looking at the hole in my stomach. Which by the way has already started to regenerate.

- Mein, you'll be punished severely. Not only did you ignore the conspiracy, coming here, but also shot. - I said, menacingly.

- Your wound..." the pink-haired girl began.

- Not seriously, for me it's like a mosquito bite. - I waved my hand, more playing to the audience than really resenting it.

I didn't realise that the stingray was Chelsea.

- What about you, Chelsea? I've never doubted your mental adequacy before. You don't have to answer that, though; we'll talk later, in private. - I sighed, then turned to the Huntsmen. - I must take my leave. It's a busy night tonight.

And after my words, I jumped on Chelsea, who immediately carried us with Mein out. I had to melt a couple of icicles flying at us...

Meanwhile...

- Failed... - said the blue-haired girl with a smile, watching through a small window a flying stingray, with a white-haired guy and a pink-haired girl.

- 'My Lady... I beg your forgiveness...' whispered the black-haired Ghoul, kneeling at the girl's feet.

- However, you haven't disappointed me too much. Compared to his experience, you're a mere minnow, unable to defeat him. - The girl sniggered.

- Mistress... - said the boy, but after a second, just turned to dust.

- Still, you are much more interesting than that kid. - smiling, said the girl, looking at the white-haired man. - What did my brother see in him? And he didn't let me in. - The girl pressed her lips together with resentment.
