A month later...

I calmly looked at the people walking by. Some are going to work, some are going to the construction site that is still going on after the last battle of the revolution.

To be honest, I'm bored. I've more or less learnt not to devour people with a single touch, but that's only when I'm fully concentrated. I get a little distracted and that's it. I miss my time in Tokyo... I'd go hunting, track down a bandit, strip him down for meat, take him to Anteika... I'd meet up with Touka, have a few words with Nishiki, and go out with Hina. Oh, those were the days... Though it ended at too bad a time. I wonder what the time ratio is between our two worlds?

By the way, another nice fact about my new body structure has come to light. Now, if I wished, I could awaken certain, the most vivid memories of the new absorbed, but the memory of all those I had absorbed before was somehow inaccessible to me.

I sighed. I was still too weakly in control of myself to attack that doctor's base, and it would take time, not training, to adjust. The body, simply hasn't fully transformed yet.

Suddenly, I caught sight of a couple of silhouettes in the crowd that caught my eye. The first was a russet-haired, brown-eyed girl, about 18 years old, wearing the new uniform of the captains of the guard. With ears. On her head, there were real cat ears, which twitched amusingly at every shout of the surrounding people.

The second was an almost naked woman with a huge golden staff behind her back. She seemed to be someone from the new king's forty teigu.

I grinned, pushing off from the roof, flying to the opposite street, following the couple, listening to them in parallel. And I had stumbled upon a very interesting conversation.

- The Emperor told me to find his remnants. Why hasn't that happened yet? - asked the half-naked woman rudely.

- Have you ever considered the fact that there are simply no remnants left? - replied the long-eared woman, from whom I finally smelled a pleasant feline odour.

- Eyewitnesses say that during the construction, a pool of blood was present at the site of Kaneki Ken's death. - Teigoyuser remarked with a wicked grin.

I grinned as well, noticing the ladies turning into the alley. It was time to have some fun!

- Dry, then. - Eeyore hissed as they entered a small courtyard surrounded by buildings.

- You're the one who's dry! - I shouted angrily.

Both girls flinched, turning to me.

- What kind of rubbish are you? - The half-naked one snorted.

- Ohhh, so you haven't even been shown pictures... Funny..." I grinned. - You're the only trash here.

- Boy, run. - The cat turned to me with concern, and I just grinned, looking at the strange yellow charge coming slowly from the spear of the angry woman.

I easily dodged it and jumped down to the ground, taking a relaxed pose and looked at the woman who was looking at me in surprise, reaching for my belt.

- Who the hell are you? - shouted the half-naked woman, waving her staff.

- Kaneki Ken. - I said, and looking at the faces of my opponents, I released the kagune, simultaneously turning my right hand into a blade.

The kagune's tentacles darted towards the half-naked woman, but she jumped back sharply, fighting back with her spear.

- You'd better stay away. - I advised the twitching eared woman. - I don't hold a grudge against you, and as soon as I kill this upstart, we'll talk separately.

In the meantime, the half-naked woman lost her spear, losing her right arm, after which she was immediately strung up on the kaguna, which swiftly braided her body and absorbed her.

The euphoria I was expecting pulsed through my body, and I smiled faintly as I removed the kagune. Finished, I deactivated the kakugane, glancing at the eared woman looking at me tensely.

- What's the name? - I asked.

The girl hesitated a bit, confused by the friendliness in my voice, but answered nonetheless:

- Felicia.

- Mm-hmm... well, you already know my name, so I don't see the point in introducing myself....

- Kaneki Ken is dead. - said Felicia. - Stop lying to me!

- You know, that's a shame. - I'm a bit of a wreck. - But I'm in a good mood, so I'll forgive you. And I want to say that being a puddle of blood, for me was very unpleasant, but fortunately, not fatal. So it's safe to say I'm Kaneki Ken.

Felicia gave me a suspicious look for a while, then asked:

- You're just telling this to the captain of the guard like that?

- Yes. I can always kill you. - I brushed it off.

- What do you want?

- Not much, actually. - I shrugged. - But since we've met, I'd like to ask about the ears.

- Huh?" The girl's ears perked up in surprise.

- Your ears. I've never seen those before. And besides, they're obviously not simple teigu.....

- Hey! - Felicia exclaimed indignantly. - They're real! I'm a nekomata!

- Nekomata? - I was surprised, and then sarcastically added: "And what did the cat deity herself forget here?

- Actually, nekomata is not a deity at all! - She pointed her finger at me and said.

- Yeah? Well, tell me about yourself. How do you feel about talking over a cup of coffee... or milk, you decide. - Feeling the end of boredom approaching, I asked.

Felicia took in air indignantly with her mouth, but suddenly froze, thinking about something and sighed.

- I don't really have a choice anyway, do I?

- Sure you do. - I asked with a smirk.

- Fine, I'll drink tea with an enemy of the Empire. - The girl grumbled, and then walked towards me. - Come on, I can't wait to answer your questions and leave.

- Yes, yes..." I nodded my head, letting the girl go.

Felicia turned out to be quite a clever girl, or rather a kitty cat, which were present in many animations of my home world. It turns out that somewhere to the south of the Empire, there is a continent where these pussycats live. Halfway through the conversation, I managed to finally convince Fish that I wasn't as evil as I'd been described, and we got to talking afterwards.

Her problem was that she had a family of traitors. They were either smugglers or just illegal traders, telling her daughter that they were perfectly normal traders. And so, almost six months ago, she found out the truth, subsequently escaping to the Empire, where she was received... not very warmly, shall we say. She was almost burned at the stake, but at the very last moment, she was rescued by one of the revolutionary killers, so Felka decided to join them. And there, her powers of illusions, fire magic, and so on, were much more well received. So after the revolution, she got a job as one of the captains of the guard.

- And you? - Felicia suddenly interrupted the silence that had settled after her story.

- М? - I arched an eyebrow questioningly, taking a sip of coffee.

- And how did you become an opponent of revolutionaries? - Felicia explained.

I rubbed my chin, trying to figure out whether I should tell her or not. However, as a result, I came to the conclusion that everything I would tell her would be known to those in power, so I began to tell her.

- To begin with, I, like you, am not human. My species is much less numerous than yours, at least on this continent. - I chuckled a little. - Ghoul. I am born with those wonderful tentacles called kagune, as well as the black eyes you saw during the battle. But in return for the power, we can't eat human food. Unless it's coffee, or rather unpleasant tasting water. We can only eat human flesh, though less regularly than humans. 1 human is usually enough for almost a month. So, I was born in a small village, my mother died in childbirth. When I was 9, my father was killed by the villagers, after which they got a nice taste of my wrath through a massacre I caused. Next, at 16 received a teigu allowing me to control fire and left the village. Some uninteresting adventures followed, but eventually I wandered into the Capital, where I was taken in by a wealthy family who offered to shelter... well, it turned out that they tortured travellers to death in their barn, mocking them in every way possible. That night, I met the Night Raid. I joined, started killing all sorts of bad guys, I liked it. Eventually, I met General Esdes..." at this point, a smile involuntarily broke out on my face. - Oh, what a story it was then... well, in the end, I lured Esdes to us, at the expense of losing the fire teigu, after the loss of all the other, at that time alive, Huntsmen. But, the end of the story was in sight, so I thought, "What happens next?". And came to the conclusion that the entire Night Raid staff would try to be eliminated, as we would cause some difficulty. We escaped, and I had to kill a couple of dissenting Raiders in the process. The battle for the Capital began, which at that point had a few of our own in it... so I rushed to the rescue. As a result, I had to cover ours with my body from a shot from the First Teigu. At that moment, I progressed to a completely different level. Within a week, I'd built up my body, and now I'm sitting in front of you. I won't tell you any more than that, because we don't trust each other yet.

- Yes, you have a much richer biography. - Phisha stretched out.

- Ug...

- THERE THEY ARE!!! - Suddenly a man shouted.

It was a man about fifty years old, dressed in exactly the same clothes as Fish. Behind him, there was a crowd of guards, swords in hand. I lazily looked round at the crowd, and the captain, seeing my gaze, began his speech.

- Captain of the Third Guard, Felicia Trevolan! Because of your co-operation with an enemy of the Empire, you are hereby declared a traitor and are to be executed!

- Phisha, will you come with me? - I turned to the girl nonchalantly.

She looked fearfully at the crowd, but after my question she nodded without a second thought, moving further away from the wall. I grinned and looked at the crowd and let out a kagune.

- How did this happen? - Felicia groaned once again.

We walked leisurely along the road towards the shelter. The forest had already started, which meant it wasn't that far to the shelter.

- I've been told a couple of times that I bring bad luck. - I shrugged.

- And what happened to them? - Phisha asked worriedly, clearly preparing to flee if she didn't like the answer.

- Not them, but her. It was the same girl. - I dismissed it. - And now she's-" I stammered, remembering the last time I'd seen Touka. - I don't know. Our paths accidentally parted about a year ago and I haven't seen her since, though I'm sure she's doing well.

- 'Mmm...' Fisha stretched out. - Was she dear to you?

- Yeah... you could say that. - I came to my senses, mangling my original 'yes'.

- That's how... What about General Esdes and Akame's assassin?

- They're... also dear, though not as dear as that one. - I answered honestly.

- Your feelings are somewhat understandable to me. - Felicia nodded thoughtfully.

- Heh... you don't understand shit. - I grinned.

Dorothea's reaction was... mixed. At first she was overjoyed that I was finally talking to normal people, but when the chemist found out that this "someone" was a girl, she got really angry.

- Is that... your girlfriend? - Phisha asked cautiously as Dorothea walked out of the room, slamming the door loudly.

- No." I grinned. - 'This is Dorothea.

At my answer, the kitty was taken aback, looking at the door in surprise.

- When I read her file, I had a different impression of her. - she confessed.

- Mm-hmm. - I nodded. She seemed strange today. There's a certain Torila who lives here, but I haven't talked to her much.

***

Recently, I've been thinking that I want to go back. In the back of my mind, I want to go back to Anteika, to see Touka again, to play with the Hinami, to spar with Nishiki....

They've all been on my mind more than Mira, Louise or Krul. Although, the last one's a little out of place, but that's beside the point. I've never wanted to go back to the previous world, and now this is a disaster.

Maybe I should have asked that guy. Although, it was possible that he was just a glitch I'd created in hopes of getting out of my nightmare.

I sighed, looking at Felicia sleeping on my bed. We didn't have another room, and I needed sleep a lot less lately, so I gave it to her. Hmm, well, I'll leave her alone.

Going into the kitchen, I started rummaging through the drawers looking for coffee, but....

- How did you do that? - came a slightly familiar voice from behind me.

I instantly turned around, straining my legs to roll over, but standing in front of me was... the guy I'd been thinking about recently.

- Y-You!?? - I said in a daze.

- Mm-hmm. - He nodded. - I hear you want to come back here?

- W-what? - I asked him again. - Oh yeah... you're a mind reader.

- Yeah. - he nodded. - So, do you want to go back?

- To your home world? No, thanks. - I wrinkled my nose.

- I know that. - God, if you can call him that, dismissed it. - Yes, you can.

I gritted my teeth, but he just smiled.

- And as for your return, I thought you wanted to go back to Ghoul, didn't you?

- You're willing to do that? - I was surprised.

- It doesn't cost me anything. Just a simple thought, and you're already there. - He shrugged. - But I can sense that something's bothering you, right?

- Akame and Esdes. - With a sigh, I agreed.

- So no? You don't want a comeback?

- Partially. - I shook my head.

I'm not ready to leave the world right now. Akame, Esdes, I can't leave without saying goodbye. In the past, I could go looking for them at any second to do that, but if I go to that world, I can't go back.

However, the urge to go back outweighs the urge to go back. So... what should I do then?

- You can't decide? - The god grinned.

- Yes." I didn't deny the obvious. He didn't even have to ask the question, he's a mind reader anyway.

The god smirked a little, and then looked at me piercingly, thinking about something. But, after a few minutes, he turned to me:

- You know, I have a suggestion...
