Chapter Twenty-Four: A Collision of Egos and Hearts

Liam stared back at her in shock. The last thing he expected was for Ava to ditch him. He understood this was her way of getting back at him for refusing to apologize earlier. All he could do was grit his teeth against the surge of anger.

Part of Ava knew accepting Dough's invitation was a terrible idea. She could barely tolerate the sight of the smarmy man, with his annoying, insincere smile that he no doubt thought was charming. She had made it crystal clear in the past that she wanted nothing to do with him romantically. If only Liam would swallow his pride and offer a simple apology. Then she could have spent her evening with him instead of this bald, creepy little man beaming at her expectantly. 

"How fortuitous," Dough purred. "What do you say we make an evening of it, just you and I?"
