The horde

"Roarrrr" a beast emerged from the tree and jumped down before me. It was an ape, a mid silver ranked one. It charged at me but I held it back with my gyro-telekinesis, floated it towards me while it struggled before painlessly ending it's life, earning me a hundred points.

Ignoring the corpse, I moved deeper into the valley and towards Owen's direction. Just as I reached about a hundred meters from his location, I felt a gaze locked on to me. I got on guard immediately but then I realized the sense of spying I was feeling was Owen's.

"Took you long enough" the scion grumbled as I appeared before him. Clearly he had sensed me long ago.

"How much points did you manage to amass? I asked.

"Nothing much, a little over twelve thousand" he shrugged. "You?"

"Just a little over ten thousand, it looks like we'll meet the deadline". "Let's head deeper" I suggested to which he gave a nod.

So with that we started heading deeper into the valley, the flora became thicker and the fauna increased in number, there were even some moving in packs but with finesse, we easily took them down

It wasn't until around 4pm that we decided to take a rest, as we've been moving and fighting nonstop.

"I'm spent" Owen let out in between breaths. "And my muscles are protesting".

"At least we managed to get halfway to our goal" I comforted, seeing as he and I had twenty five thousand and twenty four thousand points respectively.

After one hour of rest we decided to continue. As we were moving, "shhh" I motioned to Owen who was constantly talking with my finger on my lips. My senses were picking up something. Sensing my caution, he also tried to sense what was going on.

Soon, his eyes narrowed. Glancing at each other, we headed in the direction where we sensed whatever it was. Soon we came across a nest. A nest is a habitat of a species of beast, usually having hundreds of numbers or even some in the thousand.

This nest had a familiar species. They were just like the ape I encountered earlier this morning. They were at least two meters tall on average, have grey fur, with their leader who was standing on an elevated platform and hitting it's chest having white fur instead.

But if it was something that stood out about them the most, then it was their rainbow colored butts. Really it was somewhat comical. Waving my hand, I gestured for Owen to go back.

After we were about a hundred meters from the nest, I spoke; "Listen, if we play our cards right, we can finish getting the necessary points in the next few hours".

"You're not seriously thinking about attacking that nest, are you? he asked sceptically.

"No, attacking them would be a foolish endeavor, instead we'll take out strays during a chaos" I stated.

"What chaos" he asked.

"Obviously the one we would create, you see if they're in a frenzy, they won't be well.....organized, even though that's a strange thing to say about beasts. And then, that'll be our chance" I explained the plan I thought of carefully and I could see Owen's eyes widened in realization.

"But how are we going to cause a chaos" he asked. "How about.." I paused bring out something from my storage, "a stink bomb" I said showing the oval object in my hand.

"Alright, now I just need to place a ton of stink bombs where they would be most effective. All I need now is a distraction" I said staring at him.

"Oh please no, how the hell am I gonna distract them!!? that white furred one is a peak gold ranked beast and why cant you be the one to distract while I place the bombs? he protested.

"Do you know where to place them?"

"No...." he started.

"Okay then you distract them" I interrupted.

With a resigned face, he headed to do whatever he he'll do to distract the beasts.

While I patiently waited for the distraction, I heard multiple roarings and the ground shaking and just then, I heard Owen's voice;

Run, they're coming, it's a fucking horde" Owen yelled as he flew towards me. And I didn't need him to say it a second time as I also took off to the sky.

Which then brought us to our current situation where we are fleeing away from the beasts. Thankfully, beast only began to fly from platinum rank so we're safe.

Looking back I saw a horde of apes chasing after us with the white furred ape at the front.

It was even jumping to the sky trying to get hold of us, but we kept evading.

"Hey, I have an idea, let's keep attacking them from up here, even if you don't have massive attack abilities, you can simply use your control to snap their neck one by one" I suggested.

"Do you think control is easy" he scoffed but still proceeded to do as I suggested. I also didn't stay idle, I was using my crushing to the limit. Those at the mid silver rank downwards, were flattened on the ground.

With Owen snapping necks like twigs, and my massacre, we easily noticed a sharp decrease in their numbers but we weren't the only ones, the white ape seeing this was further incensed and kept trying to reach for us but to no avail.

I started making spiky constructs, then draw an unsuspecting gold ranked ape right towards the spiky ends, though it was mainly early gold ranks.

And Owen kept twisting necks here and there, though he could only do that to silver ranks, as the gold ranks were able to resist his control over their necks.

"Roarrrr"

"Roarrrr"

The white ape kept roaring as we reached the edge of the valley. As soon as we crossed out of the edges of the valley, the white ape and it's brethren stopped chasing after us and instead just kept roaring at the boundary of the valley.

"Whew almost didn't make it" Owen heaved a sigh. "Stop exaggerating, there was no way you could have died there and you can't deny that it was worth it" I said with a smile almost appearing on my face especially when seeing the number of points I had amassed.
