Chapter 97 - A New Toy

During the evening, Ray was out on a leisure walk nearby the mansion. Surprisingly, he was alone this time. Usually, either his daughter Sirin or Abby would accompany him or Ravel would jump on any occasion to spend time with him, especially when alone.

However, everyone is busy. His daughters are spending time in the Danmachi world with Tanya to show her and the newcomers, Jack and Alice, the rope at first but somehow they got into the mood for exploration and started their own little expeditions down into the dungeon.

Ravel had family matters to attend to, so she returned to Underworld for a whole week.

Kuroka went to hang out with her old comrades with the Vali Team. She will return tonight.

Asia had a girl's night with her classmates. Apparently there's an upcoming test and she was invited for a sleepover that doubled as group study with her classmates.

Thus, Ray is alone. Also, he is bored. Definitely not a good combination to have for someone with omnipotence power.

Perhaps the universe sensing his plight or trying to appease his desire for entertainment, something interesting just occured.

"Lady Gabriel, at the very least we must inform the Devils lest our presence are viewed as a threat for arriving without any announcement."

"But, I cannot wait. I don't want to wait anymore! I am tired of waiting! Father is here. The Heaven's System confirmed it. He must be here, probably waiting or unaware. I must find him and bring him back with us, back to the Throne of Heaven."

"Then I beg you, Lady Gabriel, to at least inform Lord Michael about your escapade at the very least before your brother turns Heaven upside down looking for you."

"Hmph! Let him suffer for denying my request to find Father."

While the two obviously angels hiding under thick robes like Xenovia initially does when she arrived at Kuoh, Ray saw the new toys sent his way by the universe and rubs his paws eagerly.

"Mom! See! I told you the crazy cat is real!" A passing kid points at Ray who is laughing diabolically while his imagination is running wild.

"Where is the cat? Is this some kind of trick you are playing again?" The mother obviously couldn't see Ray while her son could. She pulls her son along and walks back home while he is shouting and pointing at Ray doing Dio pose while laughing in a similar manner like a schizophrenic person.

(Gabriel PoV)

While enduring Uriel's constant nagging about her reckless adventure, Gabriel stumbled into the park in Kuoh, a location of great significance because many major events had happened here so far.

Gabriel followed her instinct which led her here. Immediately her eyes landed on a boy. His unnaturally charming cuteness aside, she can sense a feeling of radiance from him. It was not quite like the radiance her Father used to own, awe inspiring, stern and inviolable.

But this boy, although he lacks the awe inspiring and stern presence that her strict Father used to have, his presence of inviolability and omnipotence is still there and remains unchanged.

There is no doubt in Gabriel's mind, this boy must be him. Perhaps his reincarnation or perhaps his successor just like her brothers speculated.

"Excuse me, young man. Do you perhaps have tim—"

"No! My mom said I shouldn't talk to strangers." The boy answered, a little frightened and inching away to the edge of his seat, trying to slip away.

Gabriel frowned. But then she looked at Uriel and then herself and agreed that two strangers draped in thick robes were indeed suspicious looking.

"P-Please wait, we mean you no harm!" Gabriel quickly stopped the boy who was trying to escape.

"No. That is usually what the bad guys would say before they kidnapped someone." The boy retorted disdainfully as if his intelligence is being looked down upon by the two.

"What! I wouldn't ever dare imagine harming a child much less doing such a horrendous act." Gabriel proclaims in disbelief and hastily reassures the boy but Uriel seems to have caught on to the game the boy was playing and sighed.

"Boy. I would advise that you stop playing your tricks on us and waste our time." Uriel sternly advised the boy with slight pressure intended to scare him off a little. But the boy seems to be unaffected.

"Tricks?" Gabriel mutters as she turns to Uriel and then back to the boy who looks soured because his prank was exposed.

"Tch! This is why I dislike adults like you. Always too serious and busy doing this and that." The boy groaned before he sighed and jumped off the bench before he walked away.

"Wait!" Gabriel stopped the boy again.

"What? You wouldn't want to play with me but keep pestering me. This vener— *cough* I mean, stop wasting my time because it isn't free." The boy faked a cough because he almost slipped into the wrong character.

He made it clear that he wouldn't entertain them if they didn't do the same for him too. This challenges Uriel's patience since he is the chill type of person that dislikes wasting time and his time here is wasted protecting Gabriel and convincing her to return while his duty in Heaven was left unattended.

Obviously, Uriel snapped back and chastised the boy.

"Wasting yours? Your time? It's I that should say it to you. Boy." Uriel snapped at the boy before turning around and sternly advised Gabriel to return to Heaven while threatening to contact Michael if she refuses.

Gabriel felt torn between investigating the boy or freeing her brother, Michael, from worrying about her wellbeing. Due to her own personality which she herself understands, she is very susceptible to Falling. However, she knows that the boy is special. Her intuition is telling her that the boy is the answer she is looking for.

Although what she isn't aware of is that while the boy is indeed the answer she was looking for, that doesn't mean he is what she is looking for. He is merely the answer to the problem she faces. He isn't the Biblical God but he could bring Big G back or replace him entirely.

"I am sorry, Uriel. But I must look for the boy. He might be the person we, my brother, Michael, was looking for." Gabriel apologized and immediately sprint towards the direction the boy previously went but unfortunately he was nowhere to be seen until she saw him walking on a street with a familiar acquaintance.

"Grayfia Lucifuge…?" Gabriel, who is in shock, unconsciously mutters the surname with venom and hatred in her voice upon seeing the spawn of the traitor's bloodline. The traitor that caused whether directly or indirectly the death of her beloved Father.

Meanwhile Grayfia is openly cooing and fawning over her master's childish form with affection and also lust while blissfully unaware of someone staring at her as if she wanted to kill and rip Grayfia's gut out and give her the most painfully slow and torturous death imaginable.

Unknowingly, some of the feathers on Gabriel's wings flicker between black and white briefly before it returns to pristine white that is befitting for a Seraph.
