The Call

Meanwhile, outside Colby's room, Elle speaks to Kim, who is on the other line. The game is still in her hands.

                                     "Hello?" Kim answers.

                                     "Kim? It's Elle," She responds.

"Hey, Elle. Is everything alright? How's Isaiah doing?" Kim asks.

                                     "Everything's-" She pauses.

"Elle?" Kim asked nervously over the phone.

Elle takes a deep breath, calming herself down.

"It's just that Isaiah's neck has been hurting him, and I think it's right to send him home tonight," Elle explains.

                                     "His neck?" Kim asks.

"Yeah, and it all started out of nowhere," Elle says.

"Like out of the blue?" Kim asked.

                                     "Exactly." She responds.

"Huh." Kim mutters to herself, confused.

"Well, you can drop him off and I'll check on him tomorrow. I'll call his sister and let her know he's coming home." She explains to Elle.

"Sounds good. You're not mad, are you?" Elle asks.

"Of course not. I know you did your part caring for him and that's all that matters. You're a real pal for helping me out." Kim says.

                                     "Oh yeah?" Elle says, chuckling.

Kim nodded her head over the phone.

"Yeah, but I have to go. Thanks for letting me know about everything. Give Isaiah kisses for me and tell him I will be home soon." Kim says.

                                     "You got it." Elle responds.

                                     "Okay, bye." Kim says.

                                     "Bye." Elle replies.

After hanging up the phone, she glances down at the board game she still holds. After a few seconds of Elle looking at the game, Isaiah unexpectedly comes out of Colby's room, leaving the door open and causing Elle to jump. She takes a deep breath.

"Are you ready to go?" she asked.

Isaiah nods his head to Elle as he walks past her. He wipes his tears while holding his stuff in his arms. He goes downstairs to the front door. Seconds later, she enters Colby's room after she watches Isaiah walk downstairs. Colby is sitting on his bed, upset. His arms are crossed.

"I'll be back." She tells Colby.

He looks up at her, seeing the game is still in her possession. He gets even more upset, lowering his head back down. She then closes his bedroom door behind her, leaving Colby upset in his room.
