Chapter 13 - No mercy

Everyone stiffened in shock as they weren't expecting him back so soon. Oliver looked over at the maid, Melody and she looked like she would cry.

"Damien…" Kelly called out in excitement ready to tell him everything that had happened while he was away. But little did she know that her confession would cause trouble for the others in the house.

She got up from her bed quickly, walking towards him. She felt wobbly and was about to fall when Damien caught her.

"Slow down…" Damien said…trying to remain as calm as he could from what he could see. He noticed her face looked pale and her usual pink alluring lips now looked purple. He knew something bad had happened and he was more than ready to punish the culprit till they screamed in pain and begged for mercy…

Kelly's pov

I felt really excited to see Damien so I rushed towards him to fill him in, so he could fire the maid who poisoned me. I suddenly felt dizzy and was about to fall when he caught me with one of his hands.

"Slow down, you'll hurt yourself" Damien said looking closely at me, his face mixed with different emotions I couldn't tell.

"What happened? Tell me everything"

He picked me up from the ground, leading me to the bed. I was stunned for a second but I regained myself when he put me on the bed.

I told him everything and when I finished, he got up.

"Where are you going?" I asked

"I'll be back… Oliver will be here to help you while I'm away" He said his back against me. The tone of his voice told me something wasn't right with him. Maybe he wanted to fire the maid? That would serve her right.

"If you need me, just call my name. I'll hear you" he said walking away.

Just as he left, Oliver walked in.

"What's happening? Where's he going?" I asked.

"Trust me, Miss Kelly, it's best if you do not know," Oliver said.

Damien watched silently as Ivy questioned the maid. They hadn't noticed him yet. He saw how lenient and hesitant she was being and that pissed him off.

"Are you done playing around?" He finally spoke, startling both Ivy and Lola.

"Your only job was to protect her and you failed"

"My lord, I…"

"...do you think I should let you live?"

"I'm sorry my lord. It won't happen again. Please spare me" Ivy said already on her knees. Damien looked at the maid whom Ivy seemed to have been torturing. To him, she was just playing around but he liked the water torture when the air is forced out of the victim's body and they're forced to struggle for air that they would normally have freely.

"Hmm…wait outside"

With a lowered head, Ivy walked outside, leaving Lola and Damien to their business.

"What should I do with you?"

Lola's body tensed and she trembled, unable to speak.

"Answer me," Damien said, his voice echoing across the room.

"Ple…please show mercy, my lord"

"I have the antidote. I'll cure her, please let me live," Lola said in tears.

Damien found what he wanted from her thoughts. She had her own personal reasons for wanting to kill Kelly. It was even because she was a hybrid. She had poisoned Kelly because she was jealous of her beauty, and because she was in love with him. She had seen them in the living room the other day when he leaned in really close to her and that made her really angry.

"I remember you…" he said walking towards her.

He could see the troubled look on her face.

"You tried to touch my hair after serving my food"

"It was a mi…mistake"

"Of course…and how do I treat mistakes?" Damien asked, looking into her eyes, making her tremble even more. Her fear gave him pleasure.

"My lord, please…"

"I won't try it next time. I'll run away as far as I can. Please..."

"Oh…no need, there won't be a next time"

While Ivy waited at the door, all she could hear were the screams of agony from Lola. Whatever was happening in there, was terrifying to the ears. Imagine having to watch it, it would be traumatic. She felt bad for the maid and hoped she wouldn't be next. And then there was silence. The door clicked open and Damien walked out.

"Find the theriac from the maid's quarters. Don't waste any time" Damien said to Ivy, walking past her in a hurry.

He had heard Kelly call his name and he was headed to her at the speed of lightning.

"My lord, she's not doing so well"

"Hey…" Damien said, holding her face with both his hands. Her usual warm temperatures were now burning hot. Damien knew he should have gotten the medicine himself but her voice sounded urgent and he had to answer her first. He didn't want to leave her now.

"Find the medicine…" he said sitting on the bed, holding the little smallish girl in his arms. Her body was shaking and clinging to him.

"Damien…"

"Shhh…save your strength" Damien replied calmly but he was getting really impatient with Ivy and Oliver.

"Damien…" she called again.

"Yes?" He replied, knowing how stubborn she was.

"Thank you for everything. No one's ever made me feel loved like you do…" her voice low and uneasy.

"I love you"

Damien stiffened up at those words. He knew she meant it in a friendly way but he couldn't help but wonder if she could be his.

He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard footsteps.

"Here it is…" Ivy handed the bottled medicine to Damien who immediately poured two drops of it into her mouth.

"Come on…" Damien said, shaking her lightly. He could hear her heart beating really slowly and then it slowly increased but she didn't open her eyes.

He sighed in relief, dismissing Ivy and Oliver. He stayed beside her, making sure she remained warm with his body heat.

For some reason, he seemed to be distracted staring into space. His eyes were blank but his heart contemplating on what she had said. He didn't know what was wrong with him but he wanted her to be his, to wake up by her side like this. She felt so soft and tiny in his arms. He tucked her black silky hair behind her ears, revealing her bare shoulders. Her scent drew him closer and he sniffed her hair. His eyes turned red, not in anger or rage but in something he hadn't felt in a very long time. He got up quickly, covered her up and left the room before he lost control of himself.
