By the time we arrived at the Urban zone, Bakugo and Kirishima had already defeated the villains dispatched to capture them, and seeing the state of their scorched and bruised appearances, it was clear neither had held back.
"Hm, if all villains are this weak, I'll become the no. 1 Hero in no time," Bakugo boasted as she rolled her shoulder.
In response, Yaoyorozu only shook her head, "Most likely, these villains are mercenaries hired at large for cheap. They're no threat individually and only pose a danger in mass numbers."
"I guess that makes sense. None of them could get past my hardening," Kirishima noted as his skin lost its rocky appearance and returned to normal, "But if we can handle them, then there's no way they could have taken down All Might."
"Maybe they're just delusional," Jiro muttered as she stared out of the high rise they had taken a temporary rest in, "Villains aren't the smartest bunch to begin with."
"That could be the case with these guys," I replied while thinking of Shigaraki, the living skeleton covered in dismembered hands, and his advisor Kurogiri, a living cloud of dark fog, "But the guy who teleported all of you and his partner...something tells me they aren't just grunts."
Yaoyorozu nodded in agreement, "Kenji's right. Infiltrating UA takes planning, coordination, and resources; if they came here intending to kill All Might, they had to be at least somewhat confident in being able to take him on."
"But all these villains are trash," Kaminari insisted, repeating their earlier point.
"They have something else up their sleeve then," Bakugo concluded with a scowl, "How about instead of camping out here and hiding, we bring the fight to them!"
"Are you crazy? If they have something strong enough to take out All Might, we don't stand a chance," Jiro interjected, staring at Bakugo in disbelief, "What we need to do is find the rest of our classmates and get the hell out of here!"
"What about Aizawa and Thirteen," Kirishima pointed out, "Are we just going to leave them behind."
"They're Pros, man; if they can't handle it, what do you expect us to do?" Kaminari exclaimed, his face anxious with cold sweat, "I agree with Jiro. We need to get out of here and get in contact with actual Heros!"
Kirishima took a step forward, balling his hand into a fist as a fire blazed to life in his eyes, "We might not be heroes yet, but all of us enrolled with the hopes of becoming the greatest. We can't just give up at the first sign of danger! "
"No one is giving up," Yaoyorozu replied calmly, trying to quell the rising tension, "But you can't expect us to throw caution to the wind. Not all of us are as strong in combat as you and Bakugo."
"Then let's come up with a plan!" Kirishima continued to insist, "Surely, if we combine all our abilities, we can come up with some way to even the odds."
Bakugo snorted as she pointed at herself with her thumb, "Fuck a plan. I'm going out there in a minute with or without you guys."
"Settle down, Firecracker, there's no need-" I cut off midsentence as a familiar trance ensnared my mind, and my quirk activated of its own volition as my eyes were drawn to the horizon in the direction of the central plaza.
"Kenji? You alright, man," Kaminari asked, but his voice sounded like it was coming through three feet of solid concrete, and it wasn't from my lingering hearing damage.
While I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, I could feel a shift in the atmosphere, a powerful presence growing by the second. It shone like a beacon that only I could see, and I realized I could resist its call.
"I need to go," I replied, my voice dissonate and monotone with flux surging across my body more active than ever before as if moving with a life of its own, "Find the others, get help, sorry I can't explain more."
Before anyone could respond, I ran towards the shattered windows and jumped into the open air. I only fell for a moment before extending my hand and casting out a tendril of flux. The strand latched onto the side of the building, pulling taught as I fell before snapping back into shape and slingshotting me through the air.
I couldn't help but think of a particular web-shooting hero as I moved through the urban zone, heading straight for the central plaza, with an unwavering gaze focused on the presence looming on the horizon.
"Hey, what the hell do you think you're doing!"
I briefly glanced over at Bakugo, who had caught up with me using her explosions, "I don't know, but something is happening in the plaza. Probably whatever made these guys so confident they could take on All Might."
"And so you decided to run straight for it?" Bakugo asked, showing a rare moment of concern only for it to fade a second later, "Idiot."
I ignored her as we reached the edge of the Urban zone, and with one final tendril, I pulled myself to the ground, rolling to absorb the blow before popping up to my feet and looking around.
My entrance had gone unnoticed, which wasn't that surprising, seeing as the plaza had devolved into a war zone. The unconscious bodies of villains were scattered about, along with the fallout from quirks being used without hesitation, tearing up the ground and leaving behind thrown projectiles ranging from bullets to horn-like spines.
But the chaos was secondary to the scene underway in the middle of the plaza. Shigaraki and Kurogiri stood over the defeated form of Aizawa, who was currently pinned to the floor. However, it was evident that neither of them was responsible for my teacher's defeat.
That honor belonged to the monstrosity looming over him, the source of the presence that had caught my attention from nearly three miles away.
I had never seen a creature like it standing nearly six feet tall at the shoulders; the wolf-like monster was covered in dark purple scales, each ending in a raised razor-sharp point with a metallic shine. But its tail was long and serpentine with serrated spines down its length, ending in a razor-sharp spike. Similarly, its four clawed feet were hooked like gutting knives, a set of which were buried into Aizawa's back, drawing blood with agonizing slowness.
Looking at the creature's face, its glowing red eyes possessed a sick pleasure at the blood coating its claws, and it leaned its muzzle down to lick at the crimson liquid, revealing a mouth full of backward-facing razor-sharp teeth and a thin forked tongue.

"What the hell is that," Bakugo asked in a harsh whisper, and for the first time, I heard fear and hesitation in her voice.
Perhaps I should have shared her caution and trepidation, but as I stared at the monster, I realized something startling: I was hungry.
'What's happening to me?' I thought my mind and body were separating as flux started to appear across my body in blotchy patches, writhing around with anticipation, looking toward the brewing conflict.
Before I could act on my urges, however, a green flash shot across the plaza, aiming directly at the monstrosity, as my eyes caught up, I realized that it was Midoriya, his right arm glowing with cyan lightning.
Neither the monster nor its tamers were able to react as Midoriya's fist landed against the side of its muzzle with a loud bang. But instead of shattering the creature's jaw, the punch barely managed to turn the monster's head, and I saw Midoriya's eyes widen with fright as its bloodthirsty eyes landed on him. With the crack of a whip, the monster's tail lashed out its serrated edge, threatening to cut Midoriya in half.
I was moving before I realized it. Gliding across the ground I threw my hand out, grabbed Midoriya with my flux, and pulled him away. Still, I wasn't fast enough as I watched a crimson line open up across his chest, though it was only a superficial wound.
Retreating out of the monster's reach, I frowned at having my element of surprise spoiled; I could barely be bothered to check on Midoriya as my entire being itched to fight the creature, "This better be the last time I have to rescue you like this."
"Kenji, where did you come from?! Where are the others?!" Midoriya exclaimed in a barrage of questions.
"It's just me and Bakugo," I replied, "We found Kaminari, Jiro, Kirishima, and Yaoyorozu. They should be gathering the others and going to get help. Where's Thirteen?"
Midoriya paused before grimacing, "I don't know, but that shadow villain turned back up saying he had 'dealt' with her."
My jaw clenched as I tried to stave off thinking of the worst-case scenario, but I was certain of one thing, 'These guys are going to pay.'
