Whoever marries you will be in trouble

Ophelia was a bit stunned. What did it mean that he wasn't interested in her?

Though she didn't consider herself a top-tier beauty, surely a man wouldn't feel nothing upon seeing her?

Moreover, if a man wasn't interested in women... did that mean he had some kind of orientation issue?

Ophelia glanced at Connor's restrained yet handsome appearance, and she was certain, he must have some kind of orientation issue!

A man with his looks should have women throwing themselves at him, why would he need to find someone to pretend to be his partner to cover something up?

He probably needed a same-sex partner now to conceal some of his private matters.

Ophelia put on a knowing look, "Well, not being interested is the best for both of us. From now on, we'll each have our own lives." Then another thought occurred to her, "But don't worry, I won't stay here for free. I'll pay you the rent on time." She blushed a bit, "But my financial situation definitely isn't as good as yours, so the rent might be a bit less."

Ophelia really didn't have much money!

But with such good living conditions here, under normal circumstances, the rent would probably be around five thousand.

The house she previously shared only cost a thousand a month, which she could barely afford.

She couldn't really afford the rent here, so she wanted to make her situation clear to Connor in advance.

Connor didn't mind though, "We're allies anyway, I don't need your rent."

Ophelia also realized, after all, with such a nice house here, why would he care about her rent?

Ophelia didn't beat around the bush and asked directly, "Which of these two rooms do I sleep in?"

Moving was indeed tiring, and it was getting late. She really wanted to rest now.

Connor pointed to the room on the left, "You can sleep over there."

Ophelia moved her luggage to that room.

The decoration of this room was also classical in style, simple yet elegant, obviously suitable for a guy to live in.

After putting down her luggage, Ophelia looked around the room and found it a bit strange because some of the items in the room were clearly for a guy, and it looked like someone had lived here before.

A mischievous thought crossed her mind—could Connor's partner have lived here before?

If that were the case, it would feel a bit strange for her to stay here.

But then she thought, if she were to rent elsewhere, the previous tenant might have been a man as well. In that case, she didn't really have any grounds to make demands.

After putting down her luggage, Ophelia couldn't help but rub her stomach.

She had been busy moving since getting off work, and she hadn't even had time to eat. Now she was feeling a bit hungry.

But looking at the time, it was already past ten, and she probably wouldn't find anything to eat outside.

Ophelia hesitated for a moment, but eventually, she walked out of the room.

Coincidentally, as she stepped out, Connor was in the living room. Ophelia blushed a bit, "Is there anything to eat here?"

Connor glanced at Ophelia and then remembered she hadn't eaten anything yet, so she must be hungry now.

But seeing her somewhat shy demeanor, Connor thought she might be embarrassed to ask for food.

So, he deliberately said indifferently, "I'm hungry too. Could you make something for me as well?"

Ophelia had felt a bit embarrassed when she came out to look for food, but hearing Connor's instructions, she couldn't help but think, how could he be so demanding? Asking her to cook for him?

Although Ophelia was soft-spoken, she still walked over to the refrigerator and found a box of steaks inside. After picking it up, she glanced at Connor, "I'll fry a steak for you."

Ophelia went to the kitchen and began preparing.

She found a pan and put some oil in it, ready to cook the steak.

Seeing her doing this, Connor couldn't help but frown, "Shouldn't you clean the steak and remove the blood before putting it in?"

Ophelia blushed when she heard this and muttered, "You're a grown man, how would you know how to cook steak? I'll cook it my way, and you'll eat it."

What's the big deal? Just put it in the water and wait for it to cook, right? Why was this man making such a fuss?

Following her own method, Ophelia soon finished cooking the steak.

But when she took it out of the pan, she noticed something odd about the steak's appearance.

Ophelia felt a bit embarrassed for a moment.

Both sides were completely burnt. How could this happen? This wasn't supposed to be!

Seeing the steak Ophelia cooked, Connor shook his head and brought another box of steaks, "Let me do it!"

Ophelia felt a bit embarrassed. "It must be the quality of the steak." She had cooked steaks like this before, but she had never encountered such a disastrous situation.

Connor didn't want to say much. He put some oil in the pan again and started frying the steak. Soon, he finished frying the steak, plated it, and then prepared some vegetables and eggs as simple side dishes.

Connor glanced at the slightly stunned Ophelia and said calmly, "Let's sit in the dining area."

Ophelia felt like she had been completely defeated. "You can cook!" Then why did you make me do it earlier?

Connor glanced at Ophelia, "I thought all women knew how to cook." He deliberately paused for a moment. "I guess I overestimated you."

Ophelia felt like crying. She had hardly ever cooked in her life.

Being looked down upon by a man like this really annoyed her.

"What era are we in now? Do women have to know how to cook? You're biased against women, you know? Besides, I think men should be the ones who know how to cook. Have you ever heard of a female head chef in any hotel? Have you?"

Connor, seeing Ophelia's sharp tongue, didn't say much more. "It would really be troublesome for anyone who marries you."

Ophelia looked at Connor and couldn't help but retort, "Well, then I apologize, but you'll have to be busy."

Since she wasn't planning to marry anyone, and now Connor was her fake husband, he could deal with the consequences!

But after saying this, Ophelia felt a bit strange. How could she blurt out such shameless words subconsciously?

Feeling awkward, Ophelia cautiously walked to the dining area and broke the silence, "I'm starving. Come join me for a meal!"
