Ex-boyfriend

Ophelia was surprised to discover that she and Connor had quite a significant gap in cooking skills.

"It's simply not on the same level!" she sighed to herself.

After finishing their meal, Ophelia immediately started washing the dishes, preparing to head back to her room.

Coincidentally, Connor also headed towards the adjacent room.

Ophelia inadvertently glanced into that room.

Though it was just a brief glance, she immediately realized that the room wasn't a bedroom, but rather a study.

When Ophelia first arrived here and saw how spacious the living room, dining room, and kitchen were, she assumed both rooms were bedrooms. Therefore, without hesitation, she chose that room as her living quarters.

However, she had never expected the other room to be a study.

Ophelia suddenly understood why there were traces of the previous occupant in her room – because it had indeed been Connor's!

Yet, despite having the bedroom to himself, Connor chose to stay in the study... This surprised Ophelia.

She gazed at Connor, feeling that he must be someone trustworthy.

If he were a deceitful man, knowing there was another bedroom, he probably wouldn't have readily given it up and might even have tried to take advantage of the situation. However, from his behavior since the beginning, Connor seemed to be an honest gentleman.

That's right!

He wasn't exactly a saint; perhaps he just wasn't interested in women! Ophelia felt even more reassured at this moment.

Yet, she still felt a bit guilty; after all, she was occupying someone else's room.

Noticing Ophelia's uneasy expression, Connor didn't want to pressure her. He gently said, "I need to focus on some work tonight, so please don't disturb me."

Initially feeling guilty, Ophelia felt relieved after hearing Connor's indifferent tone. She realized he simply needed to work and naturally required the study, and she had been overly concerned, thinking he had deliberately given up the room for her.

Letting go of her guilt, she replied, "Alright, focus on your work then. I won't disturb you."

In the early morning, Ophelia left.

She had conducted detailed research on Robert beforehand, knowing his whereabouts. According to recent intelligence, he had been staying there all along.

After leaving, she headed straight to Robert's residence.

It was a very upscale neighborhood, belonging to the villa area, with each house being quite valuable.

Naturally, security in the neighborhood was quite tight, but Ophelia had her ways and easily entered the area.

Since her informant had said Robert was currently there, he must be returning to this residence. Ophelia intended to conduct surveillance in hopes of finding some clues.

However, Ophelia knew her thoughts were too idealistic. Robert was now a highly sought-after young idol, frequently tracked by journalists, yet no one had found any dirt on him so far. It was evident that he possessed certain capabilities in preventing journalists from tracking him.

But their magazine desperately needed a big story, and the only big story Ophelia could think of was Robert. For now, she could only conduct surveillance and see if she could stumble upon any clues.

Upon reaching Robert's residence, Ophelia sat in the nearby park, closely observing his place and monitoring the comings and goings of people.

However, from early morning until late evening, Ophelia didn't catch sight of Robert.

As darkness fell, there were no lights in the house, indicating that Robert wasn't home.

According to Ophelia's informant, Robert should have been there, and if he was, he would definitely return to this place. But why hadn't she seen him?

A sense of confusion lingered in Ophelia's mind. "Could he be engaged in other activities and hasn't returned?" she wondered.

These big celebrities had various events almost every day, and even if they were home, they might not have had time to return.

But it didn't matter; as long as he was there, he would surely come back when he needed rest. She would patiently wait here; she believed she would eventually find him.

After making up her mind, Ophelia glanced at the time. It was already nine in the evening, so it seemed she would have to come back earlier tomorrow.

With that, Ophelia stood up, preparing to leave the neighborhood.

As she walked along the neighborhood's streets, Ophelia couldn't help but rub her legs.

She had been monitoring from the park nearby, hardly moving her legs, and now they felt a bit numb from walking.

Just as Ophelia was rubbing her legs, a car came whizzing by.

Perhaps the driver was in a hurry and hadn't noticed Ophelia in the middle of the road. As the car approached her, it suddenly braked.

Startled, Ophelia instinctively stepped back, but ultimately tripped and fell.

The occupants of the car noticed the situation, and the person in the passenger seat immediately got out.

The person who stepped out was an attractive woman. Seeing Ophelia fall, she walked over to her with great concern and asked, "Are you okay, miss?"

Ophelia had only bruised her bottom and wasn't injured. She shook her head and said, "I'm fine."

However, the woman still seemed worried. "Are you sure you're okay? Do you need to go to the hospital for a check-up?"

Listening to the woman's sincere words, Ophelia thought she seemed quite responsible.

However, Ophelia really wasn't hurt. "It was just a fall on my own; your car didn't actually hit me," she explained.

As Ophelia spoke, another person got out of the car.

This man was refined and gentle in appearance, seeming like a particularly courteous gentleman.

Ophelia instinctively glanced at him, and when she saw his face, she froze. A mixture of surprise and excitement crept into her voice as she exclaimed, "Andrew?"

The person who got out of the car was none other than Andrew, Ophelia's childhood sweetheart.

Andrew wasn't just Ophelia's childhood friend; they had confirmed their relationship as a couple.

Andrew was Ophelia's ex-boyfriend! He was also the pain of Ophelia's life!

At the moment Ophelia saw Andrew, she tensed up completely.

After breaking up in their sophomore year, Ophelia had always avoided meeting him. Even when they did cross paths, she remained quite indifferent towards Andrew.

By their senior year, Andrew had reached out to her again, hoping to get back together, but she had been quite ruthless in her response, outright rejecting Andrew's plea for reconciliation.

Since then, they hadn't seen each other for over a year.

Yet unexpectedly, they had a chance encounter today.

Some of the excited emotions hidden in Ophelia's heart inadvertently surfaced...
