Sad pasta

Bailey, upon hearing Ophelia call out Andrew's name and seeing her reaction, felt a bit puzzled. "Darling, do you know her?"

The slight excitement that had just risen in Ophelia quickly turned into confusion.

The woman referred to Andrew as darling, clearly indicating their relationship.

Was she Andrew's current girlfriend?

At the thought of this, a pang of pain shot through Ophelia's heart. If it weren't for certain reasons in the past, how could she have easily left Andrew? The woman who should have been standing by his side should have been her!

However, how could she easily change some established facts? Perhaps it was better to let go.

Ophelia looked at Bailey and explained, "We knew each other before, but we were just classmates..." She paused for a moment before continuing, "I have something to attend to at home, so I'll be leaving."

With that, Ophelia got up hastily and left.

After Ophelia left, Bailey was a bit puzzled. "So you knew each other from school, huh? You should find some time to ask her to make sure she's really okay."

Meanwhile, Andrew was feeling somewhat irritated. Upon hearing Bailey's words, he still maintained a gentle response. "Get in the car, I'll take you home." He paused for a moment before adding, "Also, as I've mentioned before, our engagement was arranged by our families, and I refuse to acknowledge such a marriage. So in the future, when you and I are together, please be mindful of what you say to avoid any misunderstandings about our relationship."

Bailey's emotions fluctuated slightly, but she maintained an incredibly innocent expression on her face. "I'm really sorry."

After Andrew finished speaking, he got into the car directly.

Bailey stood still, her expression slightly darkening, and glanced in the direction Ophelia had left, muttering under her breath, "Who is that woman!"

Clearly, Andrew had some special feelings towards that woman.

Bailey felt it necessary to investigate thoroughly; she didn't want any potential threats around her.

...

It was already past ten o'clock when Ophelia returned home.

Not seeing Connor when she entered, she assumed he might not be home.

Back in her room, she sat on her bed.

Thinking about the man who had once made solemn promises to her, now being with another woman, Ophelia's mood was as gloomy as thunderstorm, extremely uncomfortable.

But...

Did she have any right to complain?

It was all her fault!

Ophelia sat for a while, subconsciously placing a hand on her stomach.

After spending the whole day trailing around and forgetting to eat, she had originally planned to grab something to eat on the way back, but encountering Andrew had completely killed her appetite.

Despite feeling terrible now, Ophelia's appetite was strangely strong.

But she had nothing to eat here!

After hesitating for a while, Ophelia realized she could only go to Connor's place to mooch some food.

Although Connor's fridge was stocked with food, Ophelia, who couldn't cook, could only make some instant noodles...

After rummaging through the fridge, Ophelia found her favorite spaghetti. So, she grabbed a bag of spaghetti and headed to the kitchen to start bustling around.

Once done, Ophelia began eating at the dining table.

But as she ate, memories suddenly flooded back. Andrew knew she loved spaghetti and always took her to find delicious spaghetti restaurants.

Thoughts of the past overwhelmed her, and the grief Ophelia had been trying to suppress burst out uncontrollably, tears streaming down her face.

Connor, who was studying in the study, heard the sounds from outside and furrowed his brows slightly.

Why was someone crying outside?

He stepped out and saw Ophelia sobbing at the table.

Connor was taken aback. What had happened to the little girl?

He walked over to Ophelia, a hint of anger appearing on his face. "Who bullied you?" His tone was full of concern.

Hearing Connor's voice, Ophelia instinctively looked up.

She had thought Connor wasn't home, but he was in the study.

And now he had seen her in such a disheveled state... Ophelia felt a blush of embarrassment. Why did Connor always seem to witness her embarrassing moments these days?

Ophelia said nervously, "I... I made spaghetti... and it's not very good!"

Connor could tell it was a lie! She probably just didn't want to say the real reason.

Glancing at the bowl of spaghetti she made, Connor actually felt a bit repulsed. It was strange for something not to taste good.

Connor sighed. "You really have the potential to make pig food!" Then, he walked over to the fridge, grabbed some ingredients and two bags of spaghetti, and said to her, "I'm craving a midnight snack. Want to join me?"

Although Ophelia felt a bit rejected, she nodded silently when she saw Connor heading to the kitchen.

Before long, Connor brought out two bowls of spaghetti.

Connor's spaghetti, with its mix of meat and vegetables, especially the tomato base, looked particularly enticing.

With the first bite, Ophelia realized it tasted just as good as, if not better than, some of the spaghetti she had enjoyed at restaurants.

Glancing at Connor, Ophelia couldn't help but ask curiously, "Are you a chef?" How else could a big guy like him have such impressive culinary skills?

Connor found it somewhat amusing!

While others had bestowed upon him many titles, "chef" was a first!

Connor simply applied his meticulous approach to everything he did, including cooking.

Observing Connor's silence, Ophelia quietly continued eating her spaghetti.

But as she ate, memories of a restaurant Andrew had once taken her to flooded her mind. The taste of that spaghetti was eerily similar to Connor's.

That day, Andrew had confessed his feelings to her!

Suddenly, the delicious spaghetti transformed into a heart-wrenching reminder.

Unable to suppress the emotions she had pushed down earlier, tears began flowing uncontrollably from Ophelia's eyes once again. Eventually, she slumped onto the table, crying.

Connor had hoped that making something tasty for Ophelia would improve her mood, but why was she crying even harder now?

Setting down his chopsticks, Connor walked over to Ophelia's side. Seeing her crying like this, he couldn't help but feel heartbroken.

Instinctively, he pulled Ophelia into his arms. "Is it hurting a lot?"
