Revenge

In a dimly lit, underground basement, I woke up to the sound of people hushing. I felt drowsy and light, my eyelids fluttering open as I realised my hands were bound.

"Hmm?" I frowned lightly before the memories of being electrocuted rushed back into my mind. My eyes turned cold as I glanced at the five figures standing in front of me—Raphael, dressed in dark black robes; Samuel, wearing a blue two-piece suit; and three others, two of whom I didn't recognize.

"What… is the meaning of this—Raphael!" My voice cracked.

"Isn't this what you wanted? Do you remember when, a year ago during the yearly competitions, you humiliated me in front of everyone as you pointed that glaive at my neck? You told me that I could never surpass you. Well... I dare you to say it now!" Raphael exclaimed, standing a dozen steps away from me, glaring with glowing eyes.

Raphael's pointy face distorted as he smiled eerily and spoke, "I still remember those eyes of yours, those eyes filled with fear even though you won that day."

Instinctively, I struggled to move, fear creeping in as I realized my worst thoughts might come true.

"I waited for two damn years!" His black eyes flashed with killing intent. "My two years of determination started to weaken as you kept improving. But then, God wasn't blind, and the news of you being unable to awaken your ancestral bloodline spread around the country."

Raphael stared down at me as I squirmed, desperately trying to free myself from the ropes. Silence consumed the small basement; none of the others seemed to have known about the depth of hatred between us. Raphael's once small figure seemed full of depth, his broad shoulders, classic black hair, and dead, black eyes giving him an unfathomable presence.

"It wasn't until two weeks ago that I found out about your illness..." Raphael continued.

"Raphael! My dad will find me soon; don't think he'll let you off if anything happens to me."

He ignored my warning and went on, "In the reports, they said you seem to have an obsession with blood, so much that you turn crazy for it. Aren't you just scared that once you consume or even touch blood, you'll turn into a bloodthirsty beast?"

The boys behind Raphael gulped, watching him act madly. They turned their heads towards a corner where a few heavy barrels sat.

My body started trembling as I fell, still tied to the chair. Not the blood!

Raphael, seeing my reaction, seemed sure the reports were true. He started walking toward me step by step, his intense gaze that of a hunter.

Standing in front of me, he kicked the chair, watching as the ropes pulled me back. The chair broke into pieces, finally allowing me to move properly. I crawled toward the exit, but a hand grabbed my ankle, lifting me and smashing me onto one of the barrels.

"Aahhh!!!" I screamed as the barrel broke, the blood inside covering my body. Raphael teleported beside me, bending down with a dagger pointed at my figure.

"P-p-please-save m-m-eee!!" I stuttered, turning towards the four boys behind Raphael, who kept their heads down, pretending they hadn't heard anything.

One of them even daringly shouted at me, "Shut up... Trash!" Raphael raised his hand to silence the boy who spoke. Hurriedly bowing his head, Samuel retreated to the group standing behind Raphael.

Locking eyes with me, Raphael slashed his dagger horizontally, just barely missing my vocal cords. Red liquid oozed from my neck as I desperately tried to stop the blood flow with my weakened hands. It hurt..My body was unable to work like I wanted it to.

"You talk too much. For a dead person, that is," Raphael said coldly.

My consciousness began to blur as I was about to faint when a bolt of lightning struck me again. My eyes protruded as tears washed away the blood on my face, my body convulsing repeatedly. Raphael took a few steps back, watching me with detached interest.

Walking back to the boys behind him, Raphael looked upon my sorry state and requested with an unfounded passion, "Now then, can you please turn into the beast you are?"

My screams grew louder as the seconds passed, and I fought to calm myself down. Why was he doing this?

"Is it safe to turn him into a beast? What if we can't stop him?" one of the boys asked nervously.

Raphael snorted and, with a swift motion, swung the dagger, cleanly cutting off the head of the boy who had just spoken.

Oslo and Samuel's hearts raced as they watched the gruesome scene. One of them even started vomiting at the sight.

Just then, my screams died down, and my body stopped shaking—it was as if I had died.

Raphael pointed to one of the boys, instructing him to check if I was finally dead. But instead, the blood covering my body started to move, as if being absorbed by my skin.

I raised my neck, which had miraculously healed, and stared at the four boys with lifeless eyes, my control over the body being lost. What was happening?

Unknown to the 4 or the world, this was the first step that would eventually lead to their destruction...
