The Kraken Princess

Sitting on the edge of my bed, I took a deep breath, steadying myself.

I closed my eyes, reaching deep into my mind.

There was something there—something that had always been there, just faint enough to be forgotten but strong enough to never disappear.

A thread.

An invisible link.

Sara.

The first bond I had ever made.

It had been three years since I last reached out to her. Three years since I was killed and forcefully drowned in that cold, dark ocean.

That was when I had first seen her.

An 'octopus' who had been struck by the powers of my mysterious bloodline.

She had been haughty, stubborn, and too full of herself for someone who had just been dragged into making a bond.

But she had also been my first connection—someone who had, in a way, kept me alive.
