Chapter 139

"This is a surprise. I didn't know Embargo opened another office in Tokyo." Lynn said, looking up at the building in front of them.

"Let's go." Ryo said as Douma and Lynn followed after him to the entrance of Embargo.

When they got to the counter, Ryo spoke to the receptionist while Douma looked around the waiting area. Lynn waited for Ryo, fighting the urge to take out her mirror or any items she had in her bag to check on her appearance.

A man in a suit approached them about a minute later, whom Douma assumed to be Mr Nagasaki. He smiled at the three of them and introduced himself as the head of Embargo's automation department.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr Oshiro and I have been discussing about the deployment of the new vehicles that we have in store for Atlas." Mr Nagaski gestured for the three of them to follow him to the meeting room.

Lynn stared at the walls surrounding as they waited for the elevator, engrossed by the sparkles in the walls to rid away the thought of having to drag her feet around the place for the net hour or so.

"This place is kinda pretty." She quietly said to herself and immediately diverted her attention when she heard the bell.

Once they got to the meeting room after walking down a few hallways, Mr Nagasaki smiled at them and opened the door to let them in.

Lynn immediately sat down, searching through her bag for something to keep her occupied while Douma and Ryo discuss with Mr Nagasaki about the automation business. The other two were put off by Lynn's disinterest in these important matters but they felt it was better not to interfere to maintain the professionalism that Mr Oshiro expected them to uphold.

"The vehicles are ready and have gone through several trials over the span of a month or two. I will have to confirm their preparations for use with the department in a bit. Now with regards to the maintenance and upgrades we've been doing to ensure the stability of the vehicle I will now move on to the fees and regulations which I assume Mr Oshiro is probably aware of by now after our recent discussion." Mr Nagasaki explained, looking over to Douma and Ryo to ensure they were on track with everything he had said.

"Can we see the vehicles Mr Nagasaki? Just to make sure." Douma asked to which Mr Nagasaki nodded.

"Of course by all means it's important that the correct autonomous vehicles are scheduled for delivery." Mr Nagasaki responded.

Ryo and Lynn sat there not saying a word. Douma didn't expect anything from Lynn, however he knew Ryo decided to just keep his mouth shut and let someone else in the team do the talking.

Furthermore, Ryo was more familiar with these internal activities in Atlas, he should at least open his mouth and speak up. Since the vehicles have been in the talks for a while, he'd know about them by now. Leaving Douma to do all the work for this mission was a sign of inferiority in his part. At least Shinobu, Yushiro, and Chachamaru were cooperative and understanding.

Douma could only give Ryo the 'You're a part of this too, don't just sit there' look which didn't seem to get to his thickhead until Lynn accidentally nudged him which startled Ryo who now felt embarrassed to put up such a ridiculous act.

"What are the fees? I've heard we've been offered a reasonable price." Ryo spoke, glancing at Lynn who accidentally nudged him again while looking at the mirror. When the girl realized this she gasped and sat up, listening to Ryo and Mr Nagasaki attentively. She had nothing else to add but was willing to be a listening ear for Ryo.

Mr Nagasaki took out the documents from his brief case and placed them on the table. He schemed through them, flipping over the pages. "In the thousands range-"

"Wait hold on. Is this per week or month? I thought we agreed for a compensation, Atlas has been utilizing Embargo's vehicles for years now. You can't just charge us a whole bunch just because of our active operations that require efficient transport from one place to another." Ryo said, Mr Nagasaki looked up with an unreadable expression that was bugging the dark-haired man.

"It depends, the deal hasn't been set yet. You still have time to adjust the measurements I suppose. The new details will be directed to Mr Oshiro and it'll be settled."

Ryo wasn't satisfied with this deal, he felt deceived and the blonde could understand why. This was a scummy move on Embargo's part.

"Shall we take a look at the vehicles we've prepared for this next mission? They're just right here." Mr Nagasaki got up after keeping all the documents in his briefcase.

Douma quickly got up and stopped Mr Nagasaki which left both him and Lynn confused.

"Wait hold on I think you might need this." Douma took something out of his pocket, Mr Nagasaki and Lynn squinted their eyes at the item the blonde was holding.

What could Mr Nagasaki need to show them the vehicles? Lynn couldn't comprehend this plan of Douma's it didn't make any sense. This was absurd, unless Mr Oshiro wanted the team to give Mr Nagasaki something? Lynn just watched but she was certain it was nothing impressive just a show to make things seem a lot more entertaining than they actually are.

There was a perfume bottle in Douma's hand, before Mr Nagasaki could ask what it was for, the blonde threw it at the spot right in front of him. The man flailed his hands backwards when it shattered on the floor, a whole cloud of fragrant mist covering the entire meeting room with a strong pungent scent that came along with it.

"Hey that's mine! You took it how dare you! It was on my desk! Ugh!" Lynn scowled, both she and Ryo got up from their seats looking around the misty surroundings of the meeting room.

The blonde stood there as the figures of Ryo and Lynn approached him. "Why would you-"

All of them noticed something odd, but Douma wasn't surprised by it at all.

"Wait where's Mr Nagasaki?" Lynn spun around, the man wasn't in the room anymore he had completely disappeared.

But something wasn't right and it had surfaced right after Douma threw the perfume bottle, the room became awfully quiet as if nobody was in the room with them in the first place.

Followed by the sound of laughter at the end of the room, a figure approaching them while flicking away the cloud of fragrance getting closer to him, covering his nose in the process. Whoever this was didn't ring a bell, he looked nothing like someone they'd expect to see in Embargo.

"Gotcha!" The person emerged from the clouds of fragrance with a wide smile on his face.

"What is happening? That's not Mr Nagasaki I don't remember him having a green mohawk." Lynn panicked, backing away when the man got closer to them.

"There's something sketchy going on don't you think? Embargo doesn't have an office in Tokyo so why would they hold a meeting here? I'm certain the address I received has already been confirmed." Mr Oshiro's words rang replayed in Douma's mind again as he watched this man who appeared to be some other worldly entity approach the team.

The lights in the room flickered and out of nowhere, flashes of distortions in the surroundings appeared in all corners. The meeting room slowly fading away revealing the actual place they were at, a street leading to a neighborhood.

"It's a disguise." Ryo said firmly, Lynn was shocked by this but she tried her best to remain calm.

"This will get all of you out of this trick. It's Lynn's perfume bottle I found it on her desk." The yellow perfume bottle was able to disperse illusions, Mr Oshiro handed it over to Douma after telling him everything about the plan.

"So how's the show? Are you guys enjoying it? Oh wait you're the actors without an audience I suppose." Nevirius activated the gears encased on each of his arms. "I shall delay your trip to Rome. It's fascinating how you guys managed to track our movements so quick. But Ryukushu himself doesn't really care, he'll finish you guys off anyway before he attains the three gladiators' weapons."

Douma got his golden fans ready. "The three gladiators' weapons? What's he up to now? Sounds like a crazy plan for this new world order he wants to enforce. We won't let that happen."

Nevirius cackled and grinned at Lynn who was displaying true fear in front of him. "Do you think Nevirius is telling you all this for treason? I might as well spill the beans since this is going to be the very last interaction the three of you will ever have. Not like Ryukushu is going to do anything about a bunch of twerps invading his space. They always end up getting slaughtered."

When Ryo was about to move out of the way with Lynn in his hold, Nevirius lunged at them, activating the gears on his arm to fire a blast at their direction.

Douma sprang up and blocked Nevirius with his fans. The entity pushed him towards the non-existent window that appeared to be shattered by the impact but instead faded it away like the rest of the building. Leaving all of them in the streets of the quiet neighborhood.

Both Ryo and Lynn watched the flashes of light clashing with each other in the night sky. "We have to catch up with them." Ryo told Lynn as she nodded and ran towards Douma whose fans were scraping against Nevirius' gears.

Lynn saw the bright wings of Douma's and gasped. "What? Are those wings? His wings?!"

"Yeah he's an angel." Ryo blurted out in a serious tone, the pink-haired girl was speechless but she decided to save questions for later.

"Enigmatic Spiral of the Depths." Nevirius unleashed a dark purplish spiral from the opening of the gear on his right arm. It traveled towards Douma who moved away from it, the spiral obliterating the walls and roofs of a few buildings they flew passed.

"Freezing Clouds!" Glacial frost spiraled towards Nevirius however, when Douma's accumulated blizzard landed on Nevirius, it disappeared like a raindrop falling into a puddle of water. Nevirius wasn't affected by his attack.

The embodiment of yin and yang grinned, he grabbed the collar of Douma's shirt and threw him to the ground.

"You can do better than that! Can't you? This battle isn't going to be fun if you continue putting up such a whimsical display! What are you concealing your potential for? Just let it out it's a battle! It doesn't matter who gets hurt or who doesn't! As long as there's a winner!" Nevirius sneered.
