Douma walked over to the counter after the person in front of him left. "I'll have chocolate and strawberry." The angel told the lady behind the cash register who got two pieces of the famous dessert that the man convinced him to try.
This dessert had a strong comforting aroma that reminded Douma of a buttery toast topped with roasted almonds.
After making payment, Douma took the bag of the two desserts handed over by the lady and stood behind one of the pillars along the path leading to other stalls and booths at the plaza. When he looked up at the sky, he was surprised that it was already nighttime and that he had been standing there for hours.
"It's night already? That's insane. Oh well." Douma held the chocolate bomboloni in his hands and bit down on it. A burst of the fragrance from the dough and creamy chocolate filling evoked a sense of joy in the blonde. The dessert was incredibly good, and he couldn't thank that man enough for recommending it.
"This is delicious!"
Wolfing down the chocolate bomboloni, Douma took out the strawberry one and stuffed a large chunk of it in his mouth. While he was enjoying the dessert, he heard loud music coming from the end of this central part of the plaza.
Curious, Douma wiped the crumbs and remains of the sugar coating and made his way towards the large gathering ahead.
He finished the two bombolonis in a short period of time and it made him wonder if he should explore the city more while he's still here. Maybe he'll stumble upon more desserts along the way.
There was a group of people performing on stage which was surrounded by a lot of people who were enjoying the classical music being played with a variety of colorful lights adding to the enthusiastic atmosphere. Douma found it relaxing, he stood among the crowd, watching the performers liven up the plaza with this wonderful melody.
Soon the performance ended, and the group of talented individuals thanked the crowd for their support and left the stage. Everybody cheered for them as they made their way down the stairs.
Douma among the crowd, waited for the next performance. This concert wasn't over yet and he could see the management handling all the equipment and escorting the other performers to their respective waiting areas.
A chair was placed in the center of the stage. Slowly walking up the stairs was a girl holding a Ukelele however, she wasn't alone. There were at least three people helping her up.
Turns out she was holding two stands for support, because she only had one leg. Douma watched her get on stage with the help of the three people with her who guided her to the chair in the center. The girl sat down and held her Ukelele close to her with a bright smile that could make people forget about her disability. A smile of hope.
The host introduced the little girl to the crowd and shared a few details about how she got here and this passion for music that she has.
Besides that, she also shared with everyone about the little girl's background. Unfortunately, she was struck with a disease that cost her one of her legs. Despite what happened, she still continued to push herself forward. The little girl knows the struggle of having to get by the obstacles in the way, sometimes the simplest ones that appear to be a challenge given the status of an individual, but she doesn't want anybody to be miserable because of that thought. Hence, she's here to give people the motivation they need.
"I want everyone to hear my song. If someone tells you that you're not capable of fulfilling your goals, don't listen to them! You can do it!" With a thumbs up, the little girl grinned as the audience cheered and clapped for her.
She's got that fighting spirit in her. That's remarkable. Douma was glad that she didn't let her doubts stop her from reaching out to her aspirations, performing on stage in front of the large crowd being one of them. Humans who know how to carry themselves despite what they were going through were great examples for others to learn from.
"Il nome della mia canzone è Deep Sea Dreams. The name of my song is Deep Sea Dreams."
Silence dawned over the audience. The little girl sat back and began strumming her fingers against the chord of her Ukelele, singing a tune followed by a set of lyrics.
The song mostly had a warm melody to it with very few lyrics. People could take their time to reflect since that's what the little girl's song was aiming for.
Standing beside the stage was the little girl's parents. They looked up at her, proud of their daughter who was singing to a large group of people about elegance and swimming in the sea of dreams. Her mother who was leaning against her husband, wiped a tear off her face. She smiled and watched her daughter enthusiastically strumming her Ukelele at a faster pace when she reached the chorus.
A few couples began embracing their partners. When Douma flitted his eyes to the rest of the crowd, he saw families talking to their children about achieving one's goals and never giving up no matter how tough the challenges may appear to be. The little girl on stage was an inspiration for many children out there who wish to experience this type of recognition and appreciation. The emotions from the song was accumulating in the hearts and minds of the crowd, bringing them closer to their loved ones.
"If she can do it, you can too." Was a common phrase that Douma heard among the tourists in the crowd.
In fact, the little girl was an inspiration for everyone regardless of how old they are. Which is why people could relate to her views, experiences, and decisions. They were included in her song.
To sum up this entire concert, it seems the performers had a story to tell and values to share with the audience. Douma didn't mind staying here a little longer even if it the performances went on for the rest of the night, he wanted to support them.
