In an opulent office building, two women that could be described as being at the peak of their feminine beauty sat facing eachother with different dispositions.
One, the black haired beauty amongst the two was seriously going through some paperwork while the other, the blonde haired beauty sat casually while waiting on the other lady.
"I still don't think this is a good idea, Peg." The blonde began. "There's something off about that Pierce guy. Making him director would be bad for the Organisation you've worked so hard to build to this Level."
The black haired beauty paused what she was doing and looked up from her work. "Hal, I love and respect you. You know that right?"
"Ugh." Hala groaned in her place as she already knew what was following that question.
"Seating in power for so long would be detrimental, rather than helpful to the organisation. The old must fall for new things to grow. That's what growth is all about."
"And you think I don't understand that simple fact?" Hala rolled her eyes at her best human friend. "It's not about growth or whatever, it's just my Gut instincts telling me he's no good."
Peggy merely shrugged and picked up her pen before returning to her work. "Then it just means that a new era would be upon the world. But not to worry." Taking a pause, she looked at Hala and added. "Don't I have you backing me up?"
"You…ugh! You're so unreasonable." Hala stood up and stomped her feet angrily.
"Did our forget that I still have to answer to the UN? Everything is under control." Peggy said and returned to her work and just then, Hala who was trying to come up with a way to make Peggy see reason suddenly froze.
"Oh no." She said as her face contorted in fear. "He's…here. But…how?"
"Hal?" Peggy, noticing the shift in Hala's disposition called out. "Are you okay?"
"..." Hala met Peggy's gaze but remained silent for a moment. "I'll be right back."
Saying that, she immediately unfurled her wings as a resplendent light envelope the entire office blinding Peggy for a moment, and just as the light died down, Hala was gone.
"Hal? Hala? Answer me! Hala!?" Peggy called out but was met with silence. "Tsk. A little heads-up would be great y'know?" Peggy clicked her tongue in annoyance and sat back down. 'Be careful, Hal.' she added internally.
She didn't know what was going on, but she could fathom that it had something to do with her. And if the look of horror on her face was anything to go by, then she was about to face something dangerous enough to be horror inducing.
…
Lucifer stepped out of what looked like a Portal, one infernal in appearance, the last traces of Hell's oppressive heat fading as the cool, pungent air of Earth embraced him. Behind him, Maze-Maikeen- emerged with her daggers still sheathed, her eyes scanning the alley they found themselves in.
The narrow passage was dimly lit by flickering lights from the nearby streets, casting distorted shadows on the walls. Lucifer took a long breath, savoring the taste of freedom, while Maze stood guard, her senses sharp.
"Well," Lucifer sighed, brushing some soot off his coat. "It's certainly... less dramatic than I envisioned for my grand return."
Maze gave the alley a cursory glance, her face twisted in disdain. "Where are we?" she asked, eyeing a pile of trash nearby.
Lucifer unbothered by his environment stepped toward the end of the alley, a smirk already pulling at his lips. "Let's find out, shall we?"
With a casual stride, he walked into the bustling night street with Maze following close behind. The moment they emerged, however, they noticed something strange, the humans on the sidewalk paused, casting curious and even weirded out glances their way.
Lucifer raised a brow, "Well, it seems our appearance is turning a few heads." He chuckled to himself. "Charming as always aren't I?"
Maze's eyes however, narrowed at the crowd, her fingers twitching at her side. "I could gouge out their eyes, make them stop staring," she said flatly, already shifting her body in anticipation.
Lucifer sighed, though there was amusement in his tone. "Maze, darling, there's no need. Let them stare. I understand you're being protective, but mutilating mortals is hardly subtle, don't you think?"
Maze shrugged, though the tension in her body didn't dissipate entirely. "Subtle isn't really my thing."
Lucifer chuckled softly, placing a hand on her shoulder. "And that's why I keep you around." He gave a final nod to the gawking humans before guiding her back into the alley. "Come along. We need to blend in."
The two stepped back into the shadows of the alley, and Lucifer turned to face Maze. He held out his right hand and snaped his fingers causing a soft glow of energy to gather around him. "Let's do something about our attire, shall we?"
With that simple snap of his fingers, Lucifer's ragged clothing shifted into a pristine three-piece suit, perfectly tailored, as if it had just been woven by the finest of hands. He admired his reflection in a dirty window, smirking. "Ah, yes. Much better."
Maze, however, found herself standing in what could only be described as an absurdly skimpy stripper outfit, complete with leather straps, high heels, and fishnets.
Her glare was deadly, and for a moment, the temperature seemed to drop. "Really?" she growled, her eyes promising pain.
Lucifer couldn't help himself. He laughed heartily, the sound echoing in the alley as he clapped his hands together. "Oh, Maze, you look absolutely delightful! Just like your mother, Lilith, I must say. You've certainly inherited her... figure."
Maze's glare intensified, her blade appearing in her hand in the blink of an eye. Lucifer waved a hand dismissively, still grinning. "Alright, alright, no need to threaten me. I was merely appreciating beauty where it's due."
He raised his hand to snap his fingers and change her outfit, but suddenly stopped mid-motion, his expression shifting to one of annoyance. A bright light began to form in front of him, and Lucifer clicked his tongue in disgust. "Oh, for Hell's sake."
Maze tensed, immediately stepping in front of him with her daggers drawn, her predatory instincts taking over. The light swirled and twisted, coalescing into the shape of a figure, Hala, radiant as ever, materialized before them.
Lucifer shielded his eyes, groaning. "Tsk, could you be any more dramatic?" He waved at the light as though trying to shoo it away, his expression irritable.
Maze, meanwhile, stood firm, ready for anything. "Lucifer, do you know her?"
Lucifer sighed, still annoyed. "Unfortunately." He eyed Hala with disdain, then smiled thinly. "And just when I thought the day couldn't get worse."
"You don't say." Hala replied as she landed a distance from him. "You are not supposed to be here."
Lucifer merely shrugged, a bored indifference lacing his reply. "And yet, here I stand." He turned from her without a second glance and snapped his fingers casually, transforming Maze's overly provocative attire into a more suitable tight-fitting leather jacket and pants.
Hala's eyes narrowed at his blatant disregard for her presence. With a flicker of resolve, she summoned her spear, its divine glow illuminating her face. "You're not welcome here, Lucifer. Return to whence you came."
Lucifer sighed in mock exhaustion, glancing over his shoulder. "Oh, come now, little sister. What exactly would we achieve by fighting? Do you truly believe you can best me?"
"I can certainly try," Hala scoffed and replied. "Elder brother Michael managed it. What makes you think I won't?" Saying that she brandished her spear threateningly.
"True," Lucifer conceded, his voice calm and almost amused, "but only with dear old dad's assistance." With a swift snap of his fingers, a ripple of energy surged outward, distorting the air around them.
Hala's eyes widened in shock as she instinctively tried to retreat, but despite her efforts, the distance between them remained unchanging.
"You…what have you done!?" Hala's voice trembled slightly, the horror dawning on her as she felt her connection to Heaven severed, her divine strength waning.
Lucifer turned, regarding her with cold amusement. "Did you imagine I spent the last few millennia in Hell merely idling away the time? Twiddling my thumbs, as it were?" He snapped his fingers once more, and the suffocating aura of the domain he had woven vanished into nothingness. "I come in peace."
Hala's eyes narrowed with suspicion. "You can't possibly expect anyone to take that seriously, can you?"
Lucifer laughed, a deep, resounding laughter that echoed through the alley. "Perhaps not, but it's the truth nonetheless."
Realizing that neither force nor persuasion would yield anything more from him, Hala lowered her spear, her frustration evident in the set of her jaw. "Father has assigned me dominion over this region. I will be watching you closely."
Lucifer waved a hand dismissively. "By all means, dear sister, do as you please. But surely, you didn't think our Father is unaware of my… vacation?"
Hala merely narrowed her eyes before unfurling her wings and disappearing in the same manner she appeared.
If she replied Yes, it would imply her doubt in God's omniscience, which would be a grave flaw in her faith.
If she replied No, it would suggest that she was questioning her role and authority by intervening despite God's awareness, which could be interpreted as overstepping her bounds.
Lucifer stood still for a moment, his eyes lingering on the spot where she had vanished before a small smirk tugged at his lips. "Always a pleasure," he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
Angels were always a delight to mess with. Set them between a rock and a hard place and they'll be on their heels.
This was the aspect of his father's kingdom that he loathed more than anything.
"That blasted bird!" Maze cried in rage seeing Hala disappear. "She didn't even acknowledge my presence."
"Let it not bother you. They're all like that." Lucifer said with a knowing smile. "Drunk on the power of heaven that they arrogantly think they are all powerful…because of Father."
"You…are you talking about yourself?" Maze said with a snicker as he put away her dagger.
"Perhaps. But I wouldn't have turned a portion of the Heavenly Hosts against Heaven if I was the only one with that mindset." Lucifer replied and shook his head. "Come…we have plans to make to make this Vacation more thrilling."
…
Peggy sat on her office chair busily going through some paperwork. This scene would make one wonder whether that was all she ever did. However, at the moment, anyone observant enough would notice the worried expression on her face as she went about her work.
Five minutes had passed since Hala left in a burst of light and Peggy understood she was going into battle. She'd afterall spent an entire decade with her in Ygdrassil so she knew that much.
She wasn't usually worried when Hala went into battle because she knew how powerful she was, however, the look of fear and horror on her face as she left this time let her know that the for wasn't an average Joe.
Right as she was still worrying while simultaneously going about her work, Hala returned in a burst of light. Her expression one of anger and dissatisfaction.
"You're back." Peggy said in relief.
"As you can see." Hala replied with a sarcastic tone.
"Is everything alright?" Peggy asked with a wry smile. 'She's doing that thing again.' she thought.
Hala glanced at her for an instant before shrugging. "What could possibly go wrong other than the Devil himself deciding to come to Earth for a vacation."
"..."
"..."
"Huh?" Peggy exclaimed in confusion. "The Devil, like the actual Devil?"
"Are there two types of Devil in this world?" Hala asked back with an annoyed expression.
"Well yeah. There's Satan from the Abrahamic religion, Iblis from Islam, Mara from Buddhism, Loki from Norse, Set from Egypt, Hades and Shiva from Greek and Hindu religion respectively." Peggy replied causing Hala to look at her weirdly.
"You know your stuff."
"Of course. I have a literal archangel as a friend. I gotta know about the others too so as not to be out of loop." Peggy said and crossed her hands in pride.
"Well, a few Gods you mentioned aren't really all that much. But as an angel, when I say The Devil, you should know who I'm referring to."
"Satan?"
"No.. well, yeah, but not really. I'm referring to Samael…or as he chose to be called after his fall…"
"Lucifer?"
"Exactly." Hala nodded and sat down. "Let me tell about who first seduced Heaven to do Evil." she began. "Samael, or Lucifer as he goes by now, to set Himself and his Glory, razed war in Heaven against the Throne and monarchy of God."
As she began, she looked out into the sky with a reminiscent expression as though vividly recalling the event that took place millennia ago.
"Charismatic as he was, he managed to rally a third of the Heavenly Hosts and went to battle against God." She said and sighed sadly. "It was a brutal scene. Watching the Very brothers and sisters you laughed and grew up with fall under your swords, spears and arrows…"
"You don't have to talk about It if you don't want to." Peggy, feeling the wave of sadness coming off of Hala said but the angel shook her head.
"It's alright. It happened so many years ago, before even Adam." Hala said with a smile and continued. "Defeated by the Archangel Micheal, this fallen angel was cast head long to the lower Realm by God's Verdict. Flaming as he fell through the Ethereal sky down to bottomless damnation. There to dwell in unbreakable chains and punishing fire."
"And now…he's on Earth."
"Now, he's on Earth."
There was a moment of silence between the two as they both allowed the weight of the situation to sink in.
"But…he's not as Evil as historical records made him out to be right?" Peggy asked to which Hala paused for a moment and then nodded.
"His pride wouldn't really allow him to stoop so low." Hala replied. "His…beef has always been with Father."
"Then we're good…right? I mean, you said it yourself. The Gods are just a different race of humanoid extraterrestrials, right?"
"...That's true, but still…" Hala paused as a look of pain flashed through her eyes. "Father hasn't withdrawn his punishment. Him being here is a violation of father's decree."
"Is God all knowing? Surely he knows, right?" Peggy asked.
Hala paused as she recalled Lucifer making the same insinuation. She also remembered the huge screen that displayed everything that took place on Earth were Leucadius always locked himself in whenever he wasn't busy…which was every single time.
He basically left the running of Heaven to Aspect and whiled away his time in his Private heaven.
Remembering all these, she could only sigh and say. "That right. Father knows best."
