Ch. 103 - Edna Mode

"Deal." With his confidence soaring high, Leo cast Edna a smirk while winking at the excited Syndrome.

"Hmph, be careful darling. Too much confidence will be your downfall. I've witnessed many people whose confidence killed them and their dreams." Edna sarcastically remarked upon seeing the arrogance in Leo's face

'That would be the case however I'm not one of those normal people.' Mentally, Leo was grinning but on the outside, his face was calm and he nodded his head like a good student willing to learn fully from his teacher.

"I understand."

"Well what are we waiting for? Justin my darling, postpone the meeting for hmm....next week." Edna casually said while exiting the elevator, following her was Leo and the jumpy Syndrome.

"Ugh! Again?!" Left inside the elevator, Justin, the poor assistant of Edna, clutched a handful of his hair and complained.

However as he was being paid handsomely, he was left with no choice but to heed Edna's order and announce the postponement of the meeting to next week.

"Hopefully, this'll be the last time, right?" Justin muttered to himself.

***

"Good morning, madam."

"Ah-hmm."

"Madam, good morning. Would you like me to bring you coffee?"

"No, darling. Coffee is bad for my diet."

As they made their way towards the Pack-A-Punch, several employees greeted Edna, who turns out to be the current owner of the Superhero Gym.

However hearing her conversation with her assistant, Justin earlier, Edna doesn't seem to like her position as the owner.

It was as if it was forced upon her.

At the same time, Leo was holding back his laugh as the scene of Edna's short height that barely reached his knees combined with her puffed chest in pride and funny way of walking made the scene look comical and funny.

Not to mention, the 'tall' employees bowing down their heads to respect her didn't make it less funnier.

"Awesome." Syndrome muttered to himself, his eyes twinkling upon the sight of Edna's dominance over everyone that walks past them.

Edna, with a keen sense of hearing, heard Syndrome's muttering and can't help but flash a satisfied smirk.

'Hmm, this kid is not that bad.' With a glint of interest, Edna decided to keep Syndrome in her mind.

Leo, seeing the look Edna was secretly giving Syndrome, can't help but cast a disdainful glance.

'Is she a pedo?'

Unfortunately, before he could fully immerse himself in this question, they finally arrived at a large room operated by tens of people in lab suits.

What attracted Leo's attention was the huge contraption in the middle of the room, standing with its full glory, even having its own spotlight.

The so called Pack-A-Punch's appearance looks like a huge red drum with countless wires and computer screens behind it, with a large screen on the top of it.

Leo even saw several names and numbers on the said screen.

[Pack-A-Punch Rankings:

1. Super Macho Man - 8999

2. One Fist Man - 8500

3. LongBeard - 7000

4....]

On the front, it doesn't look like anything that is technical, as it just looks like a red drum however you'd think otherwise upon seeing what's on the back.

"Is this the Pack-A-Punch?" Leo muttered to himself, scanning his eyes around, he also noticed several people in costumes, looking at the drum with confidence and a hint of challenge.

'Superheroes.' Leo muttered under his breath, knowing the status of those people in costumes.

"Tsk, so many people are trying out today, oh well. I already know the result of those familiar faces." Muttering to herself, Edna pushed the 'Superheroes', treating them as if they were a bunch of trash, before making her way towards the Pack-A-Punch.

"Who are they?" Noticing the duo that is following behind Edna, the onlookers grew curious at their identities, especially after hearing Edna's words.

"Now that they're out of the way, come on now. Punch it. And remember, no use of your suit! I know that it enhances your strength somehow." Edna said, squinting her eyes at him.

Leo dryly chuckled, he was just about to use his suit to easily finish this competition, however that doesn't mean Leo would allow himself to lose.

Even his suit does indeed increase his strength, his raw power is still powerful.

Combined with all of his templates along with his training in Kung-Fu and his body being also trained, Leo is confident in beating Super Macho Man's record.

"Is he really gonna try beating Macho Man's top record? No one has ever beaten it before!" A fellow superhero remarked, not believing Leo, an unknown someone they have never heard or seen before, would be able to beat Super Macho Man's record.

"Are you sure about that?"

"Anytime now." Crossing her arms, Edna confidently smirked at Leo. She can already imagine herself ripping the cape into pieces.

Leo gave her one last look and also to Syndrome who simply gave his thumbs up to him with a huge smile.

'Well, sometimes I gotta show off.' Leo whispered to himself, deciding to use chi this time to not only break Super Macho Man's record but also to make a record that is impossible to beat.

'Can he really do it?' Syndrome asked no one but himself.

"Hooohh~" Inhaling and exhaling, Leo's eyes turned sharp focus like an eagle.

In front of everyone's eyes including Edna, Leo's muscles tightened which is evident to his shirt.

They saw Leo closing his eyes, as if he was gathering his inner strength to deploy.

"Hisss~" With a sharp intake of breath, Leo's eyes shut open and his cocked fist suddenly found itself embedded on the red drum of the contraption.

"W-What just happened? I didn't see his arm move?!"

"How fast did he punch? Did anyone else see that?"

"Quick! What's the score?" Upon hearing the last guy's words, everyone immediately snapped back to reality and shifted their focus from Leo's embedded fist to the large screen on the top.

[1. [Blank] - 9999]

"I-It's over nine thousand!?"

"I think it's even beyond that! The Pack-A-Punch scoring system is programmed to have a limit of only 9,999!" One of the scientists working on the Pack-A-Punch can't help but marvel at the score, commenting the fact that Leo's score might even beyond the current if it wasn't for the limit set as a program.

"That's amazing. He managed to beat Super Macho Man's score!"

*Clap!*

Soon enough, one can recognize the strength of the other party, so they didn't hesitate to clap their hands in unison, congratulating Leo for beating the top score.

"S-So cool!" Syndrome's eyes twinkled, his nostrils flaring up upon the scene of Leo's majestic figure after punching the Pack-A-Punch.

He never expected this kind of day today. Normally, he was expecting to meet up with a normal customer who might've illegally entered the country however it turns out, this customer was anything but normal!

Saving a bank robber.

Defeating bank robbers.

And now, beating Super Macho Man's top record and even going behind the machine's scoring limit!

Mind you, Super Macho Man is the number one Superhero of Metroville.

"....Sigh, what am I even doing with my life. I should've stayed home and designed costumes." Edna rolled her eyes and sighed, easily accepting defeat.

This is not the first time she experienced defeat after all.

Before becoming who she is now, she used to be like the others. She used her own intellect and IQ to climb herself through the ranks despite being looked down upon due to her short stature.

*Clap!*

"Congratulations darling. I wasn't expecting such a performance." Clapping her hands, Edna climbed on a chair and stood on it, meeting Leo's eye level.

"Now as I promised earlier. I'll be your personal costume designer. Now hand it over." After speaking, Edna stretched her short arm and demanded.

"Hmm?" Leo confusedly tilted his head, making Edna roll her eyes again and repeat.

"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know I was speaking to a monkey. I was referring to your black colored suit with a disgusting cape!"

"Ohh...."

Nodding his head for finally understanding, Leo didn't hesitate to hand his panther habit necklace over to Edna's small hands.

As for why he's giving it so casually?

There are actually many reasons for it.

First, he's been wanting to change the appearance of the black panther suit, which is also the reason why he needed to complete Jimmy Neutron's Quests as soon as possible so he could finally change it.

Second, he knows Edna's character especially in the two films, Edna is anything but a costume thief. She might even as well kill herself rather than stealing someone else's costume or design.

Third, his panther habit is impossible to be replicated. After all, in this world, only he has Vibranium.

Last but not the least, the panther habit has a function of disabling all of its functions.

In short, if it didn't recognize Leo's print, the suit would only serve as a simple sleek costume and that's it. No kinetic energy absorber, no enhancing of strength nor anything else.

In short, Edna would only be able to wear it for its appearance but wouldn't be able to use its main functions.

Leo doesn't even know why does the suit even bother changing into a fully clothed panther habit instead of just staying into its necklace form once it doesn't recognize the user.

"Good. I'll tell you when it's done." Without hesitation, Edna rudely snatched the necklace and started walking away with small steps.

"How do I call you?" Leo yelled, watching the departing back of the short costume designer.

"You don't. I'll be the one to call you. So do whatever you want and wait for my call "

"How? I didn't even give you my number."

"Oh darling. I don't need a phone number to call someone. I have many ways if I want to call someone!"
