Familiar

CHAPTER FORTY

"Are you okay?" Doni froze upon hearing the familiar voice behind him. It was light and beautiful, yet it struck him with anxiety. He raised his head slightly, his hand instinctively covering his left eye. "I saw you writhing in pain."

"Get away from me," Doni growled, pushing her away forcefully. He kept his face hidden, fearful of being exposed. Despite his efforts to distance himself, Rain followed him, her petite form blocking his path with determination. "Princess, please get away from me."

"You seem hurt," she observed, her voice tinged with concern. "I know you hate being close to me, but I can't just stand by and do nothing when you're in pain."
