"The weather must feel nicer with Rain out of the picture," Elias received her hands and brought it to his lips. "Isn't that so, my lady?"

Rebecca let out a nervous laugh.

"Why would I be happy that the young lady is missing?" She queried trying to sound offended. "I have raised that girl like my own, of course, I am saddened by her disappearance."

"You are saddened, yet you are dressed in brightly colored apparels and your eyes are coated with color," he leaned in. "Tell me the event, maybe I could celebrate with you."

"You're being too much, my Lord" she faked annoyance and turned away from him. "I have been dressed like this all day, in expectant of the lady."

"You were never expectant of the lady, you never sent the Ducal guards to welcome them, and you didn't raise any concern when they didn't arrive." He accused. "Why is that? Can I say the empress has gotten rusty with age?"
