Amaya sat at the corner of the cold and dark room where she always hids herself from her mother whenever she was in the mood. She felt her body freezing as it rubbed itself on the cold floors and walls. Her body shivering from coldness and fear, seconds later she felt intensive dizziness and hiccups. Her symptoms were piling up and in less than a minute she would have surely fainted. Seconds past and Amaya's visions beomes blurry but could still see her mother slowly opening the door with her hand held up and holding her biggest enemy. She faints but she knew exactly what her mom would do to her.
.....
Fifteen years later
.....
Amaya Luz, 25 years old. The richest and only female CEO in country z. Well-known for hitting the fashion world with the best designs ever seen. She took over Luz Fashion lndustry when she was just 20 and dragged L.F.I from 18th of most successful businesses in country z to the 2nd. Her charisma caused a great stare anywhere she went. She always exudes an aura of wealth and power and has a piercing gaze and steely demeanor which conveys an intimidating sense of control. Most of her business tactics are well calculated and ruthless which reveals lack of empathy or compassion. Many when they looked at her only saw a heartless, successful, smart and a super rich woman . But no one knew how miserable she felt on the inside.
Amaya rolled over, her eyes barely opened. Her bed was completely messed up with most of the neatly arranged pillows fallen to the floor. She felt the right side of her head ache severely as she strugged to adjust herself to the left side of the bed to take the painkillers in her drawer. Her hands wondered inside for a while and when she couldn't find any she remembered she had taken the last one a week ago.
'Argh' she signed in pain. She had to go out to go get some. She took her car keys and phone from her desk in her room. She checked the time and it was exactly 8pm. She went straight to the driveway where her car was parked and drove herself of to the nearest drugstore. Amaya clutched her throbbing head as she parked her car outside the 24-hour drugstore. It was a quiet night, and she hoped the store wouldn't be too crowded. All she wanted was some relief from the relentless headache that had been tormenting her for hours.
Inside, the aisles were mostly empty, and she headed straight for the pharmacy counter, explaining her need for some strong headache medication. The pharmacist nodded and went to fetch the pills, leaving Amaya to find a nearby seat.
As she sat down, a man who sat a few seats away from her started to hiccup.
HICCUP HICCUP HICCUP HICCUP
HICCUP
Her eyes suddenly popped out and turned red with fear. She felt her body unable to move. Her chest tightening finding it had to breathe properly.
'Ma'am here are your medicines', the pharmacist from earlier said but Amaya couldn't hear a thing. Her gaze fixed on the man hiccuping.
HICCUP HICCUP HICCUP
The more he did the more she felt her symptoms piling up. The very next second she also started to hiccup. The memories from 15 years ago were coming back and she began to feel pain, anxiety, fear. A lady came close to her and suddenly panicked she moved forward to grab her but immediately backed out. Her body emitting heat but at the same time freezing cold when she is touched. She seemed to have gotten herself after that. Amaya's eyes widened in alarm. She had always had a strange reaction to the sound of hiccups—a bizarre quirk she could never explain. Suddenly she felt an overwhelming sense of panic.
With the strong urge to leave before the worst could happen, she stood up quickly and made her way towards the exit. The man's hiccups followed her, each one like a hammer striking her nerves. By the time she reached the parking lot, her vision was blurring, and she could hardly breathe.
Just a few steps from her car, the world tilted violently, and Amaya felt herself falling. She hit the ground hard, and the darkness swallowed her whole.
Adam Brooks the first son of the Brooks family. The Brooks family successful business contracts had earned them so much money making them number one amongst all businesses in country z. He had left home early mid day after a heated argument with his parents. They had become so overbearing that he had leave the house as they kept forcing him to take over the company. Coming out from an exclusive underground night club, he had gone out to the parking lot to take a puff when he saw a woman. Her walking seemed a little unsteady as she forced herself to move her body. She stopped in front of a car but when she tried opening she fell unconscious laying flat on the ground. Adam felt his heart skip a beat as he rashed quickly to the woman's side. As he was a few inches away from touching her he could feel extreme heat coming out of her body but upon touching her, her body was freezing. He looked around for help, but the lot was empty. Determined, he carefully lifted the woman, cradling her head and supporting her back. He didn't take his car out that day and felt instant relief because when he carried her up the car keys in her hands fell down. Despite her petite frame, the effort strained his muscles as he gently maneuvered her inside the car after unlocking it. Adam opened the back door with his foot and slowly eased the woman onto the back seat. He buckled her in, ensuring she was secure before running to the driver's seat and starting the engine. His mind raced with worry as he tired to figure out the nearest hospital. He looked around the car for a while and found her hospital ID on the passengers seat and luckily the hospital was about five to eight minutes away.
Amaya felt her head pound a little as she slowly her eyes. But the brightness in the room seemed too much for her eyes to bear so she quickly closed them again. After a few minutes she opens them again so they could adjust to the rooms brightness. She looked around and could tell exactly where she was. Just then a nurse entered and upon seeing that Amaya had woken up she rushed out again to the doctor's office.
'Doctor, Miss Amaya has woken up.
'What', the doctor said surprised. He rushed to her ward to confirm it. When he entered the room he stopped shocked to see that she had indeed woken up and was already seated on the hospital bed.
'You... You have woken up', Dr Martin said still surprised.
'Noo, I believe am still sleeping' Amaya said smiling trying to mock him.
'Why do you look so shocked. How many days has it been', Amaya said wondering why he looked so surprised to see her awake. How long has she slept. Maybe a month then he thought she had died.
'For ...4...' The doctor stammered he dazed.
' Four days...hmm.. that's normal, isn't it.'
'Noo Amaya. You've been out for four hours.
'What!!?' Amaya almost bellowed
'I would have to run some tests just to be sure to know what's going on. But I don't want you to get your hopes up again. Remember what happened the last time.' Dr. Martin spoke to her and then left, his concern evident. This was the second time it was happening. The first time, she had raised her hopes so high, only for them to be brutally shattered.
