Met With An Accident

After Kylie expressed her concerns, Darren responded calmly, "Don't worry, Kylie. I'm well aware of my physical condition. As I've already said, I'll teach Zara whatever she wants to learn from me," he said as he took a sip from the glass of flavored water.

He smiled at Kylie and added, "Besides, I've placed a bet with that grandfather–granddaughter duo that I'll take better care of myself and outlive your father-in-law when it comes to health."

Kylie chuckled at Darren's remark, and the two spent some time chatting about other things.

Following this conversation, the family decided not to place unnecessary stress on Grandpa Darren by asking him to travel frequently between the university, the mansion, and his home. As a result, it was agreed that Zara would attend two to three lessons each week at the Adam Mansion and spend another two to three days studying at Grandpa Darren's home.

Time passed, and Zara continued to attend her lessons diligently. Her family occasionally took her out for leisure to ensure she maintained a balanced lifestyle. They were concerned that if she focused solely on academics, she might become a bookworm—something none of them wanted.

In this way, another two years passed.

One day, Kylie planned to take her daughter shopping to get her some essentials. She informed the family and took Zara to the Oasis Mall located in the city center.

The Oasis was a luxurious shopping complex. Every store in the mall belonged to either international or widely known brands. It also featured several entertainment and adventure activities typically enjoyed by children. Many upper-class women and their kids frequented the mall for shopping or to spend their leisure time.

After finishing their shopping, Kylie and Zara walked down the steps at the mall entrance, heading toward their car parked nearby.

As they descended, Kylie heard someone call her name. She turned in the direction of the voice and spotted a woman approaching with a broad smile. This woman belonged to one of the families that had collaborated with them on a business venture.

Kylie and the woman exchanged pleasantries. The woman went on to compliment both Kylie and Zara, particularly praising Zara's discipline and manners.

Out of the corner of her eye, Kylie noticed Zara looking around distractedly, clearly bored and uninterested in engaging with strangers.

Understanding her daughter's feelings, Kylie gently patted Zara's hair and said, "Baby, why don't you wait for me in the car? I know you don't enjoy talking to strangers much. I'll be there soon."

Zara smiled and nodded before heading to the car. Once inside, she began using her iPad.

Suddenly, their vehicle was struck from behind by a truck, flipping it over and leaving it overturned.

Kylie froze in horror as she saw the crash unfold. Panic-stricken, she sprinted to the vehicle, gasping for breath. When she looked inside the overturned car, she saw her daughter unconscious and covered in blood.

The sight struck Kylie like a blow to the chest—so severe it took her breath away. She fainted beside the car, but the bodyguard accompanying her caught her just in time, preventing her from hitting the ground.

The security team that had been discreetly monitoring the mother and daughter quickly acted. They rushed Zara to the hospital and immediately informed the rest of the family.

The Adam family rushed to the hospital upon receiving the news. They gathered in front of the operating theater where Zara was being treated, their faces filled with anxiety and concern. The Daisen family soon arrived, deeply shaken by the accident.

Kylie, already in tears, clung tightly to her mother-in-law. Her eyes were swollen from crying. Andrew paced anxiously outside the ward, his hands tightly clasped together. The elders of the family stood praying silently for Zara's recovery.

Sofie and Alex, though equally worried about their niece, maintained composed expressions, understanding the importance of staying strong for the rest of the family. Sofie held Kylie gently and whispered, "Brother-in-law, Kylie, please try to calm down. Everyone knows that Lia is the lucky charm of our family. Nothing bad will happen to her."

"Don't worry," Alex said, though his face betrayed his concern.

"You know our Lia, Kylie. She fights for everything she wants with all her strength," Sofie added. "You'll see—she'll be back in a day or two, smiling and asking for one thing after another."

"If Lia comes back to us, that's all that matters," Kylie said through her tears. "She can have whatever she wants. I just want her to be safe and healthy."

After what felt like an eternity, the doors to the operating room finally opened, and Dr. Cooper walked out toward the Adam family.

Seeing him, the family members rushed forward before he could even reach them. Kylie, clinging to Andrew's hand, stood at the front, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Dr. Cooper, is my daughter safe? Can I go in and see her?" she asked anxiously, bombarding the doctor with questions before he had a chance to respond.

Dr. Cooper, the family's personal physician and also the chief doctor at Hope Hospital, glanced helplessly at Andrew in response to Kylie's frantic questioning.

Andrew gently embraced his wife and said, "Honey, calm down. Let the doctor speak."

Once the room quieted, Dr. Cooper addressed them respectfully and calmly. "Don't worry, Mr. and Mrs. Adam. Little Miss is out of danger. Thanks to the timely medical attention, she is now stable. There's no need for concern at this time."

"However," he continued, "she needs complete rest. She must remain in bed for at least a month."

Hearing this, the entire family exhaled in relief and thanked the doctor for his care and support.
