CHAPTER 8

Harvey knew exactly what his friend was talking about. Only if they knew how friendly, lovely and cute she was, they would never say this about her.

“I will ask her when the classes are over. You know how she hates being disturbed,” he said.

“We wouldn’t want to face her wrath,” Brian said.

The girls returned to their seats as the professor walked in and the lecture began.

Ruby went through her assignment one more time and saved it. There was still about a week before it was due. She printed the essay, stapled it and took it to her professor’s office. When she arrived her professor was in so he let her in.

“Good morning sir,” she said as she entered in the office.

“Good morning Ruby. What did you bring for me this morning?” he asked her.

“I came to submit my assignment,” she said as she placed the file on the table.

“But it is not yet due. Why are you submitting it early?”

“I will be accompanying the second years tomorrow so I won’t be able to submit it then. I would rather do it now than later,” she said.

“That’s very considerate of you. I will take this file and I hope you have fun,” he said.

“Thank you, sir. I have class so I will take my leave,” she said.

“Sure.”

Ruby left the man’s office and began to make her way back to her office. She didn’t have any class in the morning but she just hated being around professors for a long time. On her way to her office she bumped into another student who was a senior like her.

“Well, it’s Ruby. What are you doing this side?” he asked her and she stopped and looked at him.

“Last time I checked, I was the student council president. That question isn’t really necessary to ask me right?”

“How can you never change? I thought you will be less aggressive to me by now.”

“Then you should have made sure I didn’t see you so early in the morning. You know exactly how capable you are that you make my blood boil with so much anger,” she told him with a poker face.

“You are still mad?”

“Not mad exactly. What I feel I just can’t describe it, so ex-boyfriend of mine, please don’t make me angry now,” she warned.

“I said I was sorry.”

“I know how sorry you are which is why you are still intact by now. I have things to do. Take care of yourself Tom,” Ruby said and walked away.

Tom was her last boyfriend. She thought she would settle and just love him but that ungrateful donkey continuously cheated on her with these other girls. She was tired of fighting, so she simply broke up with him and ended it without a fight.

For the first time she didn’t even confront the girls, she left them alone but they knew that they shouldn’t play with fire. Sometimes she wondered if what she did was the right thing. It was the best decision ever to leave Tom however but forgiving him was what she regretted.

Ruby returned to her office and hoped that by the time the day ends she will be done with something. She wanted to relax and have fun during the trip she was going to clash with her friends.

***

Ruby had denied the fact that seniors will be joining them on their trip and he believed her. She was even so nice that she escorted him to the airport where all the juniors were.

To be honest he was so sad that he was leaving her. She kissed him on his cheeks and bided him farewell. He boarded the plane and took his seat alongside his friends. The plane was full with students. The plane finally departed and he knew he had to start counting down the days until he returns back home.

The flight took twelve hours and by the time they arrived he was tired. They went straight to the hotel where they had made their reservations. He checked into his room and the first thing he did was to take a nice hot shower and went to bed.

Before he slept he called Ruby to tell her that he had arrived. He even sent her a picture to show that he was really there. Harvey video called her for about thirty minutes before she told him to sleep. Wherever she was, she was always bossy.

He had many days ahead of him and right now all he wanted was his good night sleep.

When he woke up the next day he had his shower, put on some fresh clothes and went to the restaurant for his breakfast. When he arrived the others were already there and also his friends. He served his plate from the breakfast buffet and went to sit down when he overheard the girls talking on the other table.

“I heard that seniors really joined out trip.”

“Stop lying, we shouldn’t listen to rumors.”

“I heard someone saying she saw Ruby. You know no one can mistake her for anyone.”

“Who did you say you saw?” Harvey asked the girl who lastly spoke.

“Your sister is here, so I have heard. Didn’t you know about it?” she asked him.
