CHAPTER 17

“Thanks,” she said.

“It’s nothing,” he said as he sat next to her.

Ruby had chosen a twin seat for her and him. They could watch the movie cozily, something he was dying for.

“What’s that?” she asked him as the lights went dark.

“It’s something I bought for you,” he said as he picked the bag from the floor.

“Umm, I love you more and more,” she confessed and he smiled.

“If I’m going to hear those words every time I buy something for you then I will do it every day,” he told her.

“Then I will surely compliment you,” she said.

“Close your eyes,” he said.

“Why?”

“Can you just listen to me for once, please?”

“Fine, I will close my eyes,” Ruby said.

Ruby wondered what he bought her this time. It was the second gift he was giving to her in one day. Wasn’t he pampering her too much?

She closed her eyes and waited to see what Harvey would be giving to her. She felt his fingers around her neck and she knew that it was a necklace. She rarely wore necklaces even when she had many of them. It’s not like she hated them but she just didn’t like wearing them.

“You can open your eyes now,” he said and she did.

The first thing she did was to look at the necklace that was hanging around her neck now. She had seen it earlier and liked it but never said a word. She was afraid that he would buy it and he did. It was simple white gold and had a ruby pendant in the middle.

“I love it, thank you,” she said looking at him in the dark as the movie began.

“As long as you are happy I will do anything for you. I’m glad that you like it,” he said taking her hand in his.

His hands were big and warm. She found peace in his touch.

“I love you,” Ruby said the words she had been holding on for days.

Harvey looked at her and she saw the tears in his eyes. She used her hand which he wasn’t holding and wiped those tears.

“I….”

“I know,” she said and laid her head on his shoulder.

She felt so happy and for the first time she didn’t care about others. Even if they see her, she didn’t care. All that mattered was this, what she was feeling at that moment and the person who was sitting by her side.

Harvey couldn’t talk when Ruby professed her love for him. It was the first time she said the words after they began to date each other. He was so happy that he didn’t concentrate on the movie but just on her.

Watching her eat those popcorns, drink her soda, smile and laugh at the scenes made his day. It was just fine seeing all that. The movie didn’t matter, only her mattered.

The movie finally came to an end and the group left the private room.

“It’s almost time, what should we do now?” Alex asked.

“I will call the drivers now and we do something while we wait for them to arrive,” Ruby said and they all agreed.

Harvey watched as Ruby made the call and he just couldn’t take his eyes off her.

“You really know how to melt the heart of a woman. I didn’t know you were such a player,” Brian said as he approached that.

“She brings out those sides of me,” Harvey answered back and saw a grin on Brian’s face.

“I’m really happy for you. Just make sure she won’t get mad. I’m scared of her when she is in that mood,” Brian said.

“She scares me too,” he said with a laugh.

Ruby returned to them with a smile on her face.

“They will be here in thirty,” Ruby said.

“That’s good.”

Harvey took Ruby’s hand and she looked at him with a questioning look.

“Just let me hold your hand, please,” he begged and she didn’t even flinch for a while.

“I hate you,” she said with a smile.

“I know,” he said smiling back at her.

“You guys, you are becoming a disease,” Nancy said shaking her head.

“You should have called your boyfriend too,” Ruby attacked and they all laughed.

After the movie they visited a café where they bought some cake to eat while they waited for their transport to arrive. Harvey picked the red velvet cake for Ruby since it was her favorite and brought it to her.

“If someone sees how lovely you two are acting, they might think that you have been dating for years,” Brian said.

“We have been for fifteen years,” Harvey answered and they all burst out laughing.

“That is a great point. They have been together for too long after all,” Owen said.

“Let’s leave these two and focus on something else. I didn’t come here for this,” Jack said and they laughed once again.
