Josephine raised a fist to the door and knocked sharply. She didn't wait for a response. Instead, she grasped the doorknob, turned it, and stepped inside. The past few hours had been a whirlwind—making sure the guests from Rhodes had arrived safely, ensuring they were settled, and, most importantly, confirming they were at the church. She had wanted to spend more time with Lucia, to be by her side on such an important day, but she had lost track of time. By the time she realised it, she had barely managed to clean herself up before rushing back.

As the door swung open, her breath caught.

Lucia stood by the window, bathed in golden sunlight, a halo forming around her silhouette. For a moment, she looked ethereal—like an angel.
