Chapter 225: Guardian of the East, Nightmare of the West
"Class Leader, I'm about to transform!"
Hearing this, Tang Zichen turned around and said, "Chen Ye, you'd better take off your clothes first. Don't waste them…"
This girl was so practical—she would definitely make a thrifty and resourceful wife in the future.
"Alright, as you say."
Chen Ye agreed.
Tang Zichen then heard the sound of clothes being removed behind her.
And then, the rumble of distant thunder echoed through the night.
Flashes of lightning suddenly lit up the sky, momentarily brightening the darkness.
Tang Zichen remembered that the night was supposed to be clear with moonlight. Where had these storm clouds and lightning come from?
At that moment, a powerful pressure descended upon her.
Even without turning around, Tang Zichen broke into a cold sweat, feeling as though a great and unfathomable being was staring directly at her.
"Class Leader, I'm ready!"
Chen Ye's voice came from behind her.
However, his voice had changed—it was now deep, resonant, and brimming with authority.
Tang Zichen took a deep breath and turned around…
Even though she had mentally prepared herself, seeing a massive dragon's head up close left her pale-faced and breathless.
Standing before the dragon, she felt utterly insignificant, as though one sneeze from this colossal creature could blow her away.
"Class Leader, it's me. Don't be scared!"
Chen Ye deliberately softened his voice, trying to make it less intimidating.
Hearing the familiar tone, Tang Zichen relaxed and replied meekly, "I'm not scared."
"Good. Can you pick up my clothes and pack them, then climb onto my back?"
Tang Zichen nodded and walked over to gather the clothes.
She initially planned to fold them neatly, but the first item she grabbed made her cheeks flush crimson—it was Chen Ye's undergarment.
Naturally, since it was the last item he removed, it was on top of the pile.
Flustered, she avoided looking any further, hurriedly grabbed all the clothes, and stuffed them into the bag.
Then, glowing with green light, she effortlessly flew onto Chen Ye's neck.
The dragon's neck was incredibly wide—at least ten meters across, like a large road. Sitting on it felt no different from sitting on flat ground.
"Hold on tight!"
The dragon's majestic voice echoed.
Hearing this, Tang Zichen immediately grabbed onto the thick hair on the dragon's neck.
The dragon's hair was as sturdy as a rope, giving her a firm grip.
The next moment, Tang Zichen felt herself soaring upward, as if riding the clouds.
In the blink of an eye, she could see the entirety of the city's dazzling nightscape below.
The ascent was rapid.
"Class Leader, we're heading west now. If you feel the wind resistance is too much, just let me know," Chen Ye's voice boomed over the rushing air as they ascended higher.
"Got it!" Tang Zichen shouted in response.
"Let's go!"
With a low growl, Chen Ye surged westward at incredible speed.
Meanwhile…
At a nearby military base, the radar room was filled with a frantic "beep, beep, beep."
The radar had detected something unusual, triggering an alert.
After two recent crises, the defensive capabilities of the city had improved significantly. Even the radar system now used was state-of-the-art.
"What's going on?"
A military officer shouted.
The technician monitoring the radar quickly replied, "A massive biological entity has suddenly appeared in the skies near the city."
"Is it a monster?" the officer asked urgently. "How many?"
"Only one!"
"Just one?" The officer immediately ordered, "Deploy a drone immediately to investigate!"
"It's too late."
The technician shook his head. "This creature isn't just massive—it's flying at extremely high speed. It's already heading toward the South China Sea and has surpassed Mach 2, with its speed still increasing…"
At that speed, a drone wouldn't be able to catch up.
The officer had a sinking feeling about what this creature could be.
Not daring to delay, he promptly reported the sighting to his superiors.
All Tang Zichen could hear now was the sound of the wind.
Even with her telekinetic shield, the relentless rush of air penetrated through, roaring in her ears.
Though Chen Ye's cloud-riding ability allowed him to exceed the speed of sound without causing a sonic boom, it couldn't entirely eliminate wind resistance.
At speeds exceeding Mach 2, even with much of the wind resistance mitigated, the remaining force was still immense and hard to bear.
Thankfully, there was a solution.
As long as Tang Zichen nestled into the dragon's thick neck hair, she could shield herself from most of the wind resistance.
At this moment, Tang Zichen was doing exactly as planned.
She wasn't Qin Muyin.
Currently, her mental strength was far below Qin Muyin's level.
Although her telekinetic shield didn't consume much energy, Tang Zichen couldn't maintain it for several hours straight.
Flying from the East to the West, even at Mach 2, would still take several hours.
And so, Chen Ye flew continuously for more than three hours.
The sky gradually began to brighten.
Based on Eastern time, it was still the early hours of the morning, the darkest part of the night.
The reason for the brightening sky was simple: Chen Ye, carrying Tang Zichen, had already reached the other side of the world.
Noticing that Chen Ye's speed had slightly decreased, Tang Zichen lifted her head and asked, "Chen Ye, are we almost there?"
"Yeah," Chen Ye replied. "The West Coast is now in sight."
Tang Zichen immediately sat up.
Sure enough, in the distance, beyond the horizon, she could see the outline of a landmass emerging from the sea.
Another half hour passed.
Chen Ye finally brought Tang Zichen to their first destination in the West: America.
This was their main target for the trip.
From above, Chen Ye noticed that, under the threat of monsters, America's coastlines were now fortified with thick walls, much like the defenses in Xia Kingdom.
The once-celebrated beaches, surfing spots, and lively crowds had disappeared entirely.
For a nation that loved leisure and entertainment, this lifestyle change must have been unbearable.
As soon as Chen Ye entered American airspace, it didn't take long for a response.
Two fighter jets quickly approached.
F-22 Raptors—the pride of America's air force, once hailed as the most advanced fighter jet of its time.
Even now, they remained a key part of the military's arsenal.
Chen Ye wasn't surprised that his presence had been detected.
Given his massive size, it was impossible to avoid radar detection.
He chose to ignore the jets entirely, boldly flying deeper into American territory.
The pilots of the two jets were stunned upon seeing the colossal creature.
"Oh my God! It's the Eastern dragon!"
"Jason, everything we saw online—it's real!"
"Why did all the media say it was a hoax?"
"Jason, remember, there are two kinds of people you should never believe: politicians and journalists."
"I can't believe the dragon actually came here... What should we do now?"
"Contact the base immediately and report this. A being like this is way out of our league!"
…
Moments later, the base issued new orders:
The pilots were instructed to "escort" the dragon to the nearest military base as a "guest."
Hearing this command, the two pilots erupted in frustration.
"Bullshit! Are they insane? They want us to die?!"
"Jaden, as long as we don't fire, it shouldn't get angry, right?"
"I don't know."
"Relax, Jaden. If it's a protector of humanity, it won't harm us. Watch me!"
"Jason, be careful."
The two F-22 Raptors flanked Chen Ye, flying closer to him.
Seeing this, Tang Zichen immediately ducked into Chen Ye's thick neck hair for better concealment.
Although her disguise was already effective enough to avoid recognition, she didn't want to take unnecessary risks.
The fighter jets then began performing various maneuvers, trying to signal Chen Ye to follow them.
Of course, Chen Ye had no intention of cooperating.
In his eyes, these fighter jets were nothing more than annoying flies.
One of the jets even had the audacity to block Chen Ye's path directly, attempting to force him to change course.
This was a suicidal move.
Chen Ye wouldn't tolerate such behavior. With a sudden burst of speed, he swiped at the jet with a massive claw.
"Boom!"
Under the sheer force of Chen Ye's strike, the fighter jet exploded instantly, breaking apart mid-air in a fiery burst of smoke and debris.
The pilot didn't even have time to scream, let alone eject. He was obliterated on the spot.
"Jason!!"
The other pilot screamed in rage and immediately pulled his jet away from Chen Ye, opening fire in retaliation.
"Rat-a-tat-tat…"
The fighter jet's large-caliber machine gun unleashed a barrage of bullets toward Chen Ye.
However, Chen Ye didn't even bother dodging.
The bullets struck his dragon scales with metallic clangs, sparking on impact, but bounced off harmlessly.
"Clang, clang, clang…"
The bullets were as ineffective as pebbles against steel, unable to penetrate the dragon's impenetrable armor.
Chen Ye sneered inwardly. To him, this was nothing more than a trivial nuisance.
Not a single bullet left a scratch on Chen Ye's scales.
Realizing their attacks were futile, the remaining fighter jet turned and attempted to flee.
Chen Ye, however, extended a massive claw mid-air.
Thanks to his mastery of the "Demon King's Fist Wind" technique, the skill carried over even in his dragon form.
Not only was it retained, but the technique's power had multiplied fivefold due to his immense strength. With this claw, the attack was devastating.
"Whoosh!"
The air itself was torn apart.
A massive cloud formation in the distance was instantly split into three segments, as if a divine blade had cleaved it apart.
As for the fleeing fighter jet, it let out a deafening roar before erupting into a ball of fire, completely obliterated.
The two Raptors, America's pride, were no more than fragile toys before Chen Ye, destroyed effortlessly.
Without stopping, Chen Ye carried Tang Zichen further into American airspace.
In a nearby military base, the radar room fell silent as the life signals of the two pilots disappeared from the screens.
Soldiers were still frantically calling through their radios, hoping for a response, but the higher-ups already knew—it was over for those two.
"F**K! Isn't this dragon supposed to be a protector of humanity? Why would it attack our planes?"
"Clearly, we miscalculated. It doesn't treat everyone with kindness!"
"What do we do now? Should we send more planes to intercept it?"
"No! That would only provoke it further. Notify the Black House immediately!"
The news was quickly escalated, alarming the highest levels of the American government.
That very day, the President had taken half the day off to celebrate his granddaughter's birthday.
The festive atmosphere of the grand party, held on the lush lawn of the President's estate, was suddenly disrupted as a helicopter descended, its rotors flattening the decorations.
The President, visibly annoyed, hadn't even started to vent his anger when his aide delivered the urgent news. His expression shifted from irritation to shock.
Ignoring his granddaughter's wails, the President boarded the helicopter and rushed to the Black House for an emergency meeting.
After entering the city, Chen Ye intentionally lowered his altitude, allowing the citizens below to get a clear view of him.
"Holy sh**… Guys, look up at the sky!"
"Oh my God! Oh my God! It's the Eastern dragon!"
"Didn't the media say the dragon was fake? Damn liars!"
"Quick, take pictures and post them online!"
"Is the dragon here to help us?"
"Haha, of course! God bless America! This dragon must have been sent by God to save us."
"Well said, buddy. We're the chosen ones!"
Chen Ye's immense form was impossible to ignore.
Simply by flying through the city, he attracted the attention of countless citizens.
Instead of panic, the people were ecstatic. According to reports from the East, this dragon was humanity's ally—a great protector.
Many white citizens believed that the dragon's presence here signified its intention to protect them.
Some Black citizens even shouted that the dragon should remain in America permanently and never return to the East.
People poured out of their homes, crowding the streets, smartphones in hand, capturing videos and shouting in an attempt to get the dragon's attention.
Listening to the chatter below, Chen Ye smirked coldly.
Following Tang Zichen's directions, he arrived at the top of a tall building.
"This is the CNN headquarters?"
"Yes," Tang Zichen confirmed. "Chen Ye, look at the sign on the left wall."
"I see it."
At that moment, flames erupted around Chen Ye's right claw as he assumed an attack posture aimed at the CNN building.
This sudden movement confused many citizens watching from below.
Wasn't the dragon supposed to be humanity's ally? What was it doing?
The next moment, Chen Ye swung his claw forcefully.
"Rip!"
The sound was like tearing a massive piece of fabric as the air itself seemed to split.
Chen Ye's immense strength created a whirlwind around his claws, generating three enormous flaming blades that descended from the sky.
"Boom!"
Like slicing through fruit, the once-glorious CNN headquarters, a towering and opulent structure, was effortlessly cut into three pieces.
Even the ground beneath the building cracked apart.
Then came a massive explosion.
"BOOM!!"
Flames shot skyward as the blast consumed the area.
Chen Ye's strike was far more devastating than a cruise missile.
Not only was the CNN headquarters obliterated, but the surrounding streets also turned into a raging inferno.
All the citizens who witnessed this were utterly stunned.
